zynjams

it took the opening scene to think, I love this one

Rob Nichols

Jameson of course is played by Kevin McCarthy from Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Almost done with season one, lots more awesome Zones to come.

Ian

Twilight zone with rod and Jen now that's a duo we can all get behind 🔥

Gary Cameron

Trying to classify Twilight Zone is SO HARD. Psychological-fantasy-mystery-thriller-scifi? Whatever it is, I love Jen's reactions!

Gary Cameron

Jen, imagine if you were just sitting at home watching TV - AND THERE WERE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WATCHING YOU WATCH TV!!!! Ahhhhhh!

zynjams

always loved the guy turning into dust.

Drew

The amazing thing about the second episode is that the themes kind of played out in real life. The main actors all lived to an unusually old age given when they were born. (e.g., Estelle Winwood lived to 101, and both Kevin McCarthy and Dody Heath lived to 96). Kevin often noted that his life seemed to mirror the episode as he remained in good health and continued to act for more than 50 years after this aired. Ironically, the episode's writer, Charles Beaumont, died at only 38 from early-onset Alzheimer's disease.

Keith Goodnight

At the time Twilight Zone was first broadcast, 34-36 episodes was a typical season length for a network show, so that's why you've got this longer-than-today season. Richard Matheson is a great writer, I have a collection of all his short stories and novels. He could be considered the Stephen King of his day, writing horror stories set in the middle of modern life rather than in spooky Transylvanian mansions.

Christopher Lamont Harris

It was funny in the first episode when you were saying whether Jerry had a choice to go to jail or in the car with his wife and you made that reaction, I couldn't stop laughing

Barry Hammock

I so look forward to these :) Ha, that's interesting. I didn't know that Nora in "A World Of Difference" was Sean Penn's mom.

John W Foster

Jen - "I love that the twist in this one came right at the beginning." Rod Serling - "Hold my beer."

Ian

Two good episodes so a tough one to chose a winner , but I'm going for the second one purely because I like the actor Kevin McCarthy who you have seen as the lead in invasion of the body snatchers Jen 👌 anyone not checked out Jen's reaction to that one I highly recommend doing so 🔥

Mr. Writhms

What IS this?? For years I thought I've seen every Twilight Zone episode! And now this one about the guy not knowing his life is a movie set... what? [Cue theme music] I've never see this one! Rod Serling narrates: "A man so confident he's seen every episode, now watches Jen's reaction... in the Twilight Zone." 😱

Kevin Sommerfield

Two great reactions! I agree about the teaser giving too much away for the second episode. When I was watching these in reruns as a kid, the teasers were omitted, and I think I am glad about that. You might want to consider skipping the teasers just in case. Either way, thanks for the reactions!

Rod I

Love rewatching Twilight Zone with you. If you liked "Long Live Walter Jameson" you should watch the movie "Man From Earth"

Darryl Low

Rod did kind of spill the tea on Walter Jamieson with his sneak peek. Would have been interesting to see how different you would have felt about the episode if this week's two Zones had been swapped, and you'd forgotten about what Rod said about it last week 🤔 I wonder how the TV guide of the day described the episode. Van Cleave's score for the first episode was genuinely unsettling. Thanks for another 2 awesome Zone reactions today Jen 😊

Over50Gamer

That would have freaked anyone out before the advent of the internet as we know it.

TGrimace

I'm not sure you should've started with a 10 on your goosebump scale. This is the twilight zone. With that scale, you're going to be hitting numbers in the 20s probably before even the first season ends :)

HeWhoLooksSkyward

He looks a lot like Walter Donovan in "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"... and shares the same fate. :)

Dean

It would be pretty funny if Jen’s version of holding a Bender doll or wearing a Starfleet uniform for Twilight Zone was just smoking a pipe or, in true Rod Serling fashion, chain smoking cigarettes through the entire reaction

Muggy

The first one is definitely a jab at Ronald Reagan, who ditched his Hollywood life and was pretending to be a normal family man with his new wife, Nancy. Reagan had participated in the blackalling of many friends of the writer. Rod himself was caught up in the scandal, barely escaped.

Adam R

Episode 24 reminded me of Highlander 😆

Thadman

Rod described it as fantasy. It just encompasses all those different genres as settings.

Thadman

I gotta look for that collection 'cause I do really like the things I've seen written by him.

Thadman

I always thought, for the 1st episode, that both realities were real. Arthur just crossed over to another reality where his life was fiction and his office seemed to be the soft spot between the realities. When his wife came in at the end and he heard the voices in the studio, I yelled, "LEAVE NOW! You don't wanna get stuck in that OTHER reality!"

Keith Goodnight

It's an easy title to remember for a search: "Richard Matheson Collected Stories." There's 3 volumes. That covers his short stories; as for his novels I've bought them one at a time over the years.

Thadman

I think the 2000 yr thing wasn't a spoiler, necessarily, because that wasn't "the mystery" or the point of that story.

Flames Cagney

Goosebumps???? You've only just started Twilght Zone specializes in Goosebumps.

Flames Cagney

Next week. You get to see Susan Oliver. A lovely very popular actress from the period. Shows used her for episodes when want boost the ratings.

The Irish Buddhist

My pick would be ep 23 as for a couple of reasons. 1) It oddly reminds me of an episode of TNG were Riker participates in that play in which the reality of it keeps morphing on him... one min he is the performer and the next his world is no longer the reality/no longer just a man in a play. 2) There is yet another actor from Bewitched in this episode who had quite legendary back then : David White (Brinkley)

seven tessipates

if you liked the story of Long Live Walter Jameson, go check out Star Trek TOS s3 Requiem for Methuselah, and see if you can track down the movie The Man From Earth, which are Jerome Bixby stories about a very similar concept

seven tessipates

the 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers is really a fun watch because of his performance, and his cameo in the 1978 version is not to be missed!!
