Trek Saturday with lady J that's awesome, always look forward to your DS9 uploads Jen , they are always an instant watch . Engage 🔥🖖

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

Moogie was played by Cecily Adams, the daughter of the legendary Don Adams (Get Smart, the voice of Inspector Gadget). You should really check out a few episodes of Get Smart, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of the show and will want to watch the complete series 😂🤓

Ian

I never tire of complementing you on your thumbnails Jen they are so friggin great and always a 10/10 even the dominion would be impressed 🙂✨

Ian

Just been over on Jen's request site and upvoted about 10 new entries, be sure to head over there yourselves and add your picks and upvote all you like www.jenmurrayxo.com

I'll be honest. Im not the biggest fan of these Ferengi episodes (apart from one or two where they really shine bright). But I really admire their dedication. The actors who played the Ferengi actually used to hang out at Armin Shimerman’s (Quark) house on weekends to run their lines together and build that awesome, hilarious family chemistry before filming.

Rob Nichols

Yes! I've suggested Get Smart a number of times, it's a perfect Jen show.

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

The good thing is that ever single episode is stand alone so she could just watch the first ones and not a whole season 🤓😄

Summer

Great episodes things are gearing up

HeWhoLooksSkyward

That last scene with Kira standing in front of the graves of her two fathers always gets to me. And seeing Jeffrey Combs in back-to-back episodes as Weyoun 5 and Brunt of the FCA is always a hoot. :)

Kristin

Why is Stargate the movie, and then SG-1 not voted higher? Jen would love this. It's so fun and up.

Ian

Well Stargate the movie is already on Jen's channel as for the series I can't answer that I myself voted for it

Sean Ellingham

It's not spoken outright, but the implication (which IIRC has been confirmed by someone involved in the episode) is that Kira buried Ghemor next to her father

WinkNudgeNudge

Now you've seen two episodes back to back with Jeffrey Combs playing two different characters! Brunt and Weyoun! Also, Marauder Mo was from TNG Episode 1 before they (somewhat) overhauled the Ferengi. Remember they had that shock whip or lasso? That was Marauder Mo.

WinkNudgeNudge

Missed it by that much! I agree, Get Smart was fantastic fun.

Nate Gavin

Wow. After all these years, I never knew Weyoun and Liquidator Brunt were played by the same actor!

Desmond

Ah, the return of Weyoun. One of Jeffrey Combs' greatest roles.

Opti_Frog

Double dose of Jeffrey Combs this week. ❤️

Dean

I want to start a tradition among my friends and family of passing on secrets before they pass so their enemies can be destroyed.

Geoff S.

The Weyoun character proved so interesting that they wrote him back into the series after his death.

Dean

Weyoun is back, baby! Woooooooooo!!!

Desmond

And yeah, you're not wrong that they are treading water with certain episodes, but keep in mind these seasons were 26 episodes. Some of them are gonna be time fillers. Not a terrible Ferengi episode, IMO. There are definitely worse ones.

Dean

Need to bump up the numbers for Andor, folks. It is only 24 episodes. I suggest Jen knock that out before diving into a really long running series like Voyager or X-Files.

Preaching to the Horse's Mouth

I'm always a little surprised that NV doesn't have a larger filmography to her credit, she really is a wonderful actress. Not just the dramatic scenes, although of course those as well, but the big beaming smiles, the sarcastic smirks, etc. We really do have quite the the array of big names and acting powerhouses on this show. Speaking of wry smiles and micro expressions, have I ever mentioned how much I live for J's patented "pfffft" 😉 Top tier stuff

TC Green

He was also that pervy alien in the earlier episode who wanted quark to make him a holodeck program with Kira in it

I’ve seen that a lot of reactors are getting comments about not applying human morality to alien species in the show, but that’s like the whole point of the franchise. Especially in the TNG era, Roddenberry’s whole thing was creating a vision of an evolved humanity that had abolished capitalism and created a classless egalitarian society and then viewing humanity’s problems of the time through the lens of that enlightened outsider using aliens as an allegory. Even if the conclusion is sometimes “this situation is clearly an injustice but we can’t interfere either for political reasons or because sometimes you just have to remove the training wheels and let the kid figure out how not to crash the bike.” DS9 ratchets that up intentionally, the Maquis and DMZ conflict are a direct allegory of Israel-Palestine (in addition to the Maquis literally being the name of a WW2-era French antifascist resistance cell), the episode Past Tense was written after the LA Times wrote an article about a proposal from the LA mayor to make dedicated “zones” for homeless people in the city. And the show even deals with the problems and delicacy of said egalitarian and classless society via the Maquis and episodes like Homefront and Paradise Lost. The Ferengi are actually the perfect example. They were written specifically to be the main antagonists of TNG originally because they were the inverse of the Federation, being hyper-capitalist and hyper-patriarchal. They were essentially the writers’ extrapolation of Reagan- and Thatcher-era neoliberal ideology. You were specifically supposed to be judging them for how they treat women and how they only care about profit, it was the writers’ way of saying that the trajectory of politics of the time led to a place that most people wouldn’t actually like. And unfortunately not enough people seemed to get that message considering the state of the world we now inhabit, which without getting into spoilers is why the modern era shows can often get much more explicit in their commentary. Like, consider this episode where we see most of the major Ferengi characters in the show all grappling with exactly to what degree their society sucks and needs reforms, and specifically Federation-style reforms as Quark notes. Well, other than Brunt, the one “true Ferengi,” and everybody hates him! And consider the other Ferengi we’ve seen in the show: Nog, who is currently in Starfleet, the Ferengi female from “Rules of Acquisition” who lives as a man to get rights, and the other Ferengi employees of Quark’s bar who all join a union and strike after hearing Rom quote Karl Marx one time. Like, if I’m not supposed to be applying human and Federation values to the Ferengi, then this is the worst-written show in history. So go ahead and apply your values to the aliens, Jen. That’s the point, Trek is not hard sci-fi. Even if sometimes there’s a conflict, you don’t always have to agree, but you are supposed to consider the argument that the writers are putting forward. And you’ll have a lot more fun.

Last week I said I didn't mind the romance episodes..... until this one. I tend to forget this one because I skip it on rewatch. I did watch it this time so Bev's ghost sex is the only reaction vid I haven't watched yet.

The_Truth

Lawrence Pressman (Tekeny Ghemor) was also the fake ambassador that was really a changeling in the Season 3 episode "The Adversary"

Brian Straight

Oohh. Can't wait for Children of Time. Fantastic episode, a top in the franchise for me."

Brian Straight

That's what my impression always was. The whole episode about her equating her relationship with her father to her relationship with Ghemor.

Kristin

The rest of this season has some knock out episodes. Can hardly for next week!

Kristin

We are not fans of anything to do with the Nagus or Moogie. When they go to Ferenginar, we skip the episodes.

Senzu Bean

Don't tell Jen, she will quote the rules of acquisition to us: Rule 31: 'never make fun of a Ferengi's mother.'

Brent Justice

Kira buried the Cardassian next to her real Father, it's the same burial place, that was her father next to him at the end. And Dukat wasn't wondering around the station, he had a full federation security detail around him at all times, escorting him, you could see them positioned when he came in Kira's room, and at the bar, they were all around him on the edges.
