Movies not chosen doesn't mean they will never be watched. They are still on my to-watch list so make sure you go upvote them on MOVIE REQUEST SITE

If having issues voting - open the actual poll post, sometimes you can't vote just on the feed. If issues voting on mobile app-- try desktop!

*Note: By placing these picks on a poll in October that does not mean I'm declaring them "horror movies". These are just movies I am under the impression it is semi-reasonable to watch during this season and/or I am personally interested in watching them now

Reanimator! See Weyoun like you've never seen him before...

Lemurian Jones

I think you'd like Gremlins 2. It's goofy and it knows it.

Helly R

Omg, Jen watching Re-Animator would be something.

mikethemotormouth

A lot of Stephen King in this poll. The one that caught my eye the most is Maximum Overdrive. It's only horrendous or terrifying in how perfectly bad it is. Definitely worth seeing in that "so bad it's good" kind of way, I just don't think it's a great fit for the season

Darryl Low

So many creepy cool movies Jen. You'll definitely have a blast with Gremlins 2. It's so wacky ๐Ÿ˜†

Arthur 'Two Sheds' Jackson

Gotta watch Re-Animator!! Cinebinge with watched Gremlins 2 last week... The Craft is also pretty good or The Descent, but has to be the Director's Cut ๐Ÿค“

Adam Harris

If you ever watch The Descent, make sure it is the original British director's cut and not the US edited one that changed the ending.

Summer

Great pumpkin charlie brown and Garfields Halloween

Ian

Will watch any on the list apart from the Blair witch project and the descent, you couldn't pay me to watch those so fingers crossed for anything but ๐Ÿคž

Rob Nichols

So many here I've been hoping for ever since I found your channel, over four years ago. But I still don't see Bud and Lou Meet Frankie, it's a perfect Halloween movie.

Nick of Time

No one will ever watch Prince of Darkness. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคฃ

fallingupdownthere

I liked the Descent. Blair Witch is on my worst movies ever list.

Ian

Yeah Blair witch is not good at all , the descent is a no cuz I don't do caves and shit

Tyler Foster

Don't know how well it will do among these options but FYI: the version of Dawn of the Dead (1978) that is on Amazon Prime is NOT THE THEATRICAL VERSION but a rougher workprint version called the "Cannes Cut" because it played there before being honed down into the finished theatrical version, which is also Romero's director's cut. Correct theatrical cut runs 2h7m, and will not be available to stream in the United States. Amazon Prime version is 2h19m and the third cut, the "Argento Cut", runs 1h59m. I do not recommend watching the "Cannes Cut" because it has a really negative impact on the pacing and overall impact of the film.

TC Green

Casper is why Christina Ricci was my first crush

Bryan Tuck

Agreed. After years and years of not being available in North America, when it finally shows up again, it's the not-quite-finished version. But in any version, I'm afraid it's going to give Jen some nightmares. :)

Bryan Tuck

Death Becomes Her and The Frighteners would make a fun Halloween double bill. :)

Bryan Tuck

And he's also in The Frighteners :)

Jason Pratt

After you watch Gremlins 2 you have to (should) watch the Key and Peele skit

Torcano42

Re-Animator, Jen!! This will be your last Halloween season to watch it while youโ€™re still on Deep Space Nine timeโ€ฆ itโ€™s got Weyoun!!

Kinokind

I just want to give a little love to The Blair Witch project. Ultra-low budget, and many are put off by the shaky hand-held camera, but one of the scariest movies I ever saw in the theater. At the end, the whole audience sat silent, then slowly got up and filed out.

Kirk G Longuski

There are so many better movies on the list, but Van Helsing (2004) is the only movie that has ever been made

DrJonasVenture

Re-Animator is a really great one. One of the perfect combinations of horror with black comedy

ellis

Wow lots of bangers on this list Glad people are here for G2 - one of the all time great sequels, masterpiece imo, Joe Dante (The 'Burbs director) was cooking at this time. More people need to get on board with Prince of Darkness though

Jason Scade

Excellent varied poll. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Voted for many. Great to see Dr. Lecter make an appearance. ๐Ÿ‘

Jason Scade

It's the bloodiest of messes.

Andrew

I don't know if Jen would survive The Descent but I want to find out. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Don Carroll

For Frankenstein, get uncensored version please.

Amarant Coral

Gremlins 2 has been annointed. I hope she does 2nd place again. We gotta get at least one scary horror movie in there for October. In for Dawn of the Dead, Frankenstein, and The Descent. Will add a vote for a spooky tie breaker if need be for 2nd.

D.A.V.E.

Great list, I voted for seven of the movies. Ringu 1998 would have been my choice instead of The Ring. If you're looking for international horror I can recommend Guillermo del Toro's - Devils Backbone it's a really good Ghost Story. ๐Ÿ‘ป

Byrd N. Hand

It's been like 2 years now since you've finished a franchise that's been of any interest to me (the original "Mad Max" trilogy, I believe), so it'll be nice to see you finally finish off the "Gremlins" duology, assuming it holds this already big lead. ๐Ÿ‘ (Though apprently a third movie is due out next November. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ)

Banes

I had to look that up - as far as I can tell, any dvd set pretty much should have the full version. Not sure about streaming!

Jen is a dedicated franchise watcher - I think she would...and I predict she will...watch at least some of the classic Monster movies first.

Banes

...Maybe not this year, but eventually. She's a fan of vintage movies too, so she'll probably dig them!

Jesse Lee

Even if 10 Cloverfield Lane loses, do it anyway ๐Ÿ˜…

Bryan Tuck

Yeah, I think the censored version has been banished to older formats :) Pretty much anything from the initial DVD onwards is going to be uncensored (including digital/streaming releases).

Jason Scade

Great shout. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I was on board with 'Prince of Darkness' in 1987. Then 'They Live', the following year.

Don Carroll

Good to know. Recently saw a reactor with censored version. Thanks.

Colin Simpson

Of all the picks I think Jen would enjoy Van Helsing most

Bryan Tuck

Were they watching it on VHS or something? Not sure why that would even still be in circulation.

Michael Knight

The Frighteners 1996, which I didn't realize till finding a random streaming site, has an extended director's cut edition lasting an additional shy of 15 mins longer which most of it being deleted seems that does slightly deepen the dark story tone of the movie and some character development. Just FYI, when or if you eventually decide to react to and watch.๐Ÿ‘ Another great dark comedy horror from Peter Jackson and Produced by Robert Zemeckis, which also has a really good score effort by Danny Elfman,๐ŸŽถ thinking when I was little that it was composed by Alan Silvestri, who mostly composes with most of Robert Zemeckis film.

ellis

Definitely. Carpenter is one of my favourite guys - his whole run from '74 to '94 is kind of unparalleled

Henchman Twenty1

And our favorite Ferengi Commerce Authority agent, Liquidator Brunt!

Marcus Hicks

Pretty much all of these are bangers that I would watch in a heartbeat....and happily voted for. Yet I most want Frighteners to win this poll ๐Ÿ™‚.

Jason Scade

'74 for Dark Star. '94 for 'In the Mouth of Madness', huh? (of course) Friends & myself went to see that in the cinema when it was newly released, which made it especially surreal.

Marcus Hicks

Yeah, it definitely fits into the "so bad its good" category. To be fair, the original short story its based on was very bare bones, so kind of amazed they managed to turn it into a full-length film.

mikethemotormouth

That's part of the reason why I've been pushing for It(1990)

Bryan Tuck

I would actually recommend the theatrical cut of The Frighteners for a first-time watch. It's been a while since I saw the director's cut, but I remember feeling the extra scenes don't do much but drag the pace down. :)

The_Truth

Paranormal Activity, The Conjuring, Insidious, Hereditary

Tyrone Tyrone

1. The Dead Zone (1983) 2. The Craft (1996) 3. Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Adam Harris

Agreed, the original Japanese version of the Ring is way better than the American remake. There's something about it being set in Japan that adds to the unsettling atmosphere.

Budsfan67

You should watch the Scary Movie series since you're not a huge fan of the pure horror genre.

Jason Scade

Yes! Horrific and hilarious. Not an easy combo to pull off. Same goes for The Return of the Living Dead. Frig me, it's bleak!

Joseph Krider

If you like Haunted Houses, either 1973's "The Legend of Hell House" (not the remake). And if you want a two-fer, Steven King's "Rose Red" from 2002.

Jenna

omg you would love Death becomes her. It's amazing

Kane

I know that Jen (and reactors in general) like to go in blind and it's usually the right call but if Gremlins 2 wins, i actually think a little bit of back story makes it a much more enjoyable watch.

KP

while making Creepshow, makeup artist Tom Savini said he drove to go get makeup suppies, and King was walking down the middle of the road, drinking from a bottle of champagne!

Patrick Turman

I voted for none of the above because when it comes to horror movies, I'm a wimp. I'm STILL traumatized from being taken to see the Shining back in the day. And I was in my 40s.

Adam Harris

Some of these aren't horror films. They fit the Halloween mood, but they aren't scary. Gremlins 2 is really more of a comedy, and Casper is a kids movie.

Ian

Jen has seen the first movie it's on her channel , what other backstory does she need ???

Dean

+1 for any Jeffrey Combs movies!!

Kane

Well Gremlins obviously takes itself much more seriously, and the studio was literally the only party involved that wanted to make a sequel and basically everyone passed on it at least once. When Joe Dante finally agreed to make it, it was solely for the purpose of making an absurd parity of the first movie, and of hollywood sequels in general. When you understand all of that the movie goes from being inexplicably confusing and different in every way from the first one to one of the most enjoyably goofy movies ever made.

Adam Harris

I don't think you need to know any of that to enjoy it. The movie sets the tone quite well, just like The 'Burbs (from the same director). Jen loved that, so I don't think she'll be confused.

jon bolton

Dawn of the Dead, Return of the Living Dead, Prince of Darkness, The Fog, Death Becomes Her, The Craft, Creepshow, Van Helsing, Red Dragon, Re-Animator, and The Descent get my vote.

Samuel Simpson

Death Becomes Her and Prince of Darkness.
