since it s just OVA, i wouldnt mind watching it AFTER i m done with season 2 but since some of u guys mentioned it then i want to see the general opinion here

I honestly forget when it takes place, but there is a 4-5 episode long OVA in between seasons 1/2 that’s worth watching I’d say

So when it comes to the Slime Diaries it is best to watch it after the first half of season 2. (Episode 36). the reason being is that there are some things in the later half of slime diaries that are pertinent to season 2 more than season 1. (Some characters and some themes). otherwise I would watch the OVA before beginning season 2 as there is some character development that takes place. especially episodes 3-5.

I think the best way to watch slime is by release date. Because the timeline is all over the place. Season 1 OVA Season 1 Season 2 part 1 Slime Diaries Season 2 part 2

OAD 1-2 (Hey! Butts!/Tragedy of M): Often considered filler or "extra scenes". OAD 3-5 (Rimuru's Glamorous Life as a Teacher): Widely accepted as canon. Coleus' Dream (3-episode ONA): Canon, set between Seasons 1 and 2. Scarlet Bond Movie: Considered "side-story canon" (happens in the universe, doesn't impact the main plot). Slime Diaries: Considered canon side-content. maybe this helps a bit too

You could not write it better. I also watched them before I started second season including a movie. It's better that way for sure depending content of each OVA of course. Best is to watch them as they were released. OVA and movies are mostly considered filler or fan service in most anime so I mostly do not watch them if they are not interesting or part of the story but with slime I did watch them before second season and I'm glad for it. I wanted to write basicaly same thing like you did but I would rather enforce your comment then repeate it myself.

Hmm... to be honest I really want you to jump into season 2 already because there's a lot of juicy stuff that happened in that season that I can't wait for you to watch, but either way is fine. Not that there's not a lot going on in season 3, but the season 2 is just ... you'll know when you finally get to it. Anyways, before the Slime Diaries, you should watch the 5-episode OVAs first, or at least the last 3 episodes entitled "Rimuru's Glamorous Life as a Teacher", BEFORE season 2. You'll know why. Then you decide whether to watch the Slime Diaries before season 2. You should also watch the 3-episode ONAs entitled "Visions of Coleus" and the Scarlet Bond movie after season 2 (definitely DON'T watch them before starting the second season). Go to season 3 then watch the 2nd movie that just got released (Tears of the Azure Sea) before starting the 4th season. Someone mentioned to watch the Tensura releases based on their date of release and I think that works fine as well. If you deside to follow such suggestion, the order is Season 1 >> 5-episode OVAs >> Season 2 part 1 >> Slime Diaries >> Season 2 part 2 >> Scarlet Bond movie >> Visions of Coleus ONAs >> Season 3 >> Tears of the Azure Sea movie >> Season 4.
