I am pretty sure "The Agency" that kidnapped Asaka-san is a parody of the SCP Foundation, which is just awesome. Also, since The Agency is a rival group to the Institute Yogiri was locked in, they would have even less info on him than the Institute researchers, who also didn't know he could kill them without seeing them.

I don’t think they gave him the power. They just don’t seem capable of it. Not to mention in ep 6 when Aoi looks at him she literally sees what he is An eldritch horror in human form, the very personification of the end in the flesh He is the ultimate end , the end of everything At least that’s my take.

The anime subtitles are not entirely accurate in describing him. In the light novel, the wording is a bit different to point out how different Yogiri is. (The subtitles may be different to extend his identity, though, but yea. The End)

Yogiri also mentions he was called Lord Okakushi before coming to the lab, so that more or less confirms he had his abilities before being experimented on.

The anime didn’t really do a good job at explaining that tbh. He gets called Lord oka-whatever and they keep showing him being locked in a lab and his name is alpha omega. Anyone that hasn’t read the light novel would assume he was made in the lab. I m still at ep 9 with 3 eps left so hopefully they show a flashback or something to tell me what Lord oka-whatever name means
