Hello Traxians!

UPDATE July 22nd: The Stranger Things Live event is happening tonight! 

In just a handful of hours, at 5:30 pm Pacific Time (8:30 pm Eastern / 7:30 pm Central) visit our Scener Theater at https://scener.com/rifftrax. Click the button that appears there, and you'll be in! (You may need to log into your Netflix account if you haven't already.)

Let’s not mince words (you read the title of this post): on July 22nd at 5:30PM PT Mike, Kevin and Bill will be riffing the first episode of Stranger Things LIVE and for FREE! 

We wanted to do this as a way of saying thank you to the Traxians, our fans, and the whole RiffTrax community for continuing to support us through these difficult times. While circumstances have prevented us from performing RiffTrax Live in theaters yet, it won’t stop RiffTrax Live!

Now for the details. How is this happening? It’s all made possible by our friends at Scener. They’ve crafted a Google Chrome extension which lets you watch Netflix (along with other streaming services) with your friends in perfect sync! So here’s all you’ll need to enjoy RiffTrax Live: Stranger Things:

That’s it! Head on over to RiffTrax.com/scener to learn more, and to get a reminder before showtime.

I saw the date and immediately thought this was being done in concurrence with rhe Virtual San Diego Comic Con (which Rifftrax has done live before). However it is not... would be cool (but is probably too late) to do some cross marketing on it!

Darn. Of course it's not that simple. Scener is installed, but even though I access Netflix from the same computer, when I launched Scener, just to try it out, it opened a whole new Chrome window, and it wants me to "Start or join a theater." ??? There's a side panel, on the right, for video chat, I guess, but it's asking me to log in. "Create a theater" "OR" "Enter your theater code." ??? This was supposed to be a happy moment. I have no idea if this thing is going to work with Netflix, on the 22nd. :/

Unfortunately, I don't have a PC at the moment. But I'm glad you guys are at least doing this, considering the circumstances. Can't wait for when I can watch RT at theaters again! :)

This was a lot of fun, technical difficulties and all. If not for the technical difficulties, Mike wouldn't have taken it upon himself to find as many synonyms as possible to "Stranger Things," some of which made me giggle quite a bit (Stranger Fling being a stand-out). Great stuff, Mike!
