Yeah. The arcade games had plots. You’d learn a little about the tournament and each fighter during the attract screens. And if you completed the game as a character you’d learn more about that character and find out what they did when they won.(Or with Mortal Kombat II you’d give up after wasting a mountain of quarters and look at pictures of the endings in a strategy guide.) The developers made sure the first movie followed the lore pretty closely. The second film, not as much.
