The process of writing On the Same Page has been... interesting. Very different than my usual writing process, I'll be honest.
As you know, it started as a novella. So, I had ~40k of it written, to the point that it was "complete" months ago. But, though I loved the characters and the bones of the story I'd come up with, I wasn't happy with it and couldn't handle having other people (aside from Monica) read it in a form that I was so dissatisfied with.
It was then that, though the novella was "due" out to you, that I realized the only way I could be happy with it, was by turning it into the full-length novel I knew it could be.
I really only had time to start truly tackling the majority of my re-writes when I quit my job 2 months ago.
A fun fact about me as a writer is this: re-working and revising a novella to expand on scenes and add in the missing links takes more time for me to do than it does to write brand new scenes.
I have dedicated most of the summer to re-working, revising, and writing On the Same Page into the novel I'm proud of and want you to read, and had the last three weeks to finish the back end of those revisions.
However.
Since the end of July, my partner and favorite person has been dealing with very serious and very difficult updates regarding her mother's health. It's not my place to share them, especially given that so many of you know Monica. But we have been back in her home town for a while, dealing with some big real life issues.
I know this story is already very, very late, which is why I refused to miss this deadline, no matter what. And while I have the second half of this novel written, I did not have the time to fix it up and revise everything I needed to revise.
It means a lot for me to let you all know that I do not take your patronage or financial support here lightly or for granted. It's what has allowed me a transition to writing full time and actually manage to get writing done this summer, for you. Because of that, and for how patient and supportive you have all been to me, it was very important to me to use some of the financial support given to me here to give something back to you. I ordered a couple pieces of merch for all of you in these top tiers - so for everyone who has filled out the form I sent out a link to, keep your eyes on the mail in the next few weeks for the first of two little tokens of my appreciation :) (the second will be sent out to you for Cassmas in December!)
Part 2 of On the Same Page will be released Friday, September 8, and I will of course put both halves together in a download, as well. Bonus content that I've been writing parallel to the novel (Gianna's point of view) will be released Friday, September 22.
If you switched to a higher tier this month for the OtSP release and intended to switch back in September, I completely understand and want you to have access for what you paid for, for the month of August. For that reason, if you switch back to $5, I will make the part 2 post available on Sept. 8 to all tiers until Sept. 9, before I switch it back to top 3 tiers. So make sure you check your email/come to patreon to grab the download on that day!
