Extra Side Story - Valentine's Day Special (Vikashi AU) [Part 1] (Patreon)
Content
Hey guys 👋 So, I decide to write a Valentine's Day Special side story. I planned it to be released on the 15th, but the story turns out far longer than I first expected. The story features Viktor x Takashi in the Vikashi AU and is a sweet and wholesome side story 😊
Just like the Luka & Yvette's Extra Side Story, this will be released a week early for Patrons and then this story will be available to the public as well. The side story is 6.2K words long in total and because of this huge word count, I'll divide the story post into two parts. I hope you guys enjoy it! 🥰
* * * * *
It’s another one of those movie nights and you’re currently seated on the sofa with Ash and Rin. They are bickering about something but you don’t really pay any attention. Right now, you’re watching the adults working in the kitchen.
Aunt Cara is pulling out seven empty mugs and preparing to make hot chocolate. She makes the best hot chocolate—after your dad, of course. Uncle Luka, on the other hand, has been relegated to the task of simply making the popcorn because it’s a supposedly foolproof process. “Just follow the instructions on the box step by step,” your father told him. And true enough, you see Uncle Luka pulling out a package from the box and is reading the texts behind it intently for a few seconds before shrugging and walking over to the microwave.
But the two that are currently your focus is your dad and Rin’s dad. Your dad is washing the dishes from tonight’s dinner while Takashi is helping him dry the clean plate with a towel. Your dad is talking to him about something lightheartedly while Takashi is trying his best to keep his nervousness hidden behind his awkward and lopsided grin, his cheeks lightly flushed. You catch your father glancing at Takashi every once in a while, a soft and even, dare you say, shy smile gracing his lips. One time, their hands touched when your dad passed a plate to Takashi, and your dad actually blushed a bit. You’ve never seen him acting like that before! Hmm…
Rin and Ash pop up to your left and right respectively, following your lead by leaning and settling their chins on the back of the sofa. “What’re you looking at, Sasha? What’s wrong?” Ash asks quietly as they follow your line of sight and Rin does the same as well.
“Look, look at my dad and Rin’s,” you tell both of them urgently. “Are you seeing what I’m seeing?”
There’s a minute of silence as they observe. “Hmm… I see. I’ve had this suspicion recently, but it’s good to know that I’m not the only one who’s seeing it,” Rin hums beside you and you nod in agreement.
“I don’t get it!” Ash frowns. “They’re washing dishes. Is there something wrong with that?”
Rin rolls their eyes. “You’re too young to understand it.”
“What?” Ash says in disbelief. “I’m older than you by three years!”
“Alright, alright. Stop it, you two,” you cut them both off. “Clearly both of them have feelings for each other and they seem to be too shy to actually tell the other. We need to do something or else they won’t ever get together. So, are you guys in or what?”
“I’m in,” Ash chirps without hesitation.
“Rin?” you ask.
After a few seconds, they finally sigh, “Fine, I’m in.”
“Great!” You pump your little fist in enthusiasm. “Project… Uh… Project Cupid—Yes!—Is now live.”
“So, what’s our plan here exactly?” Ash asks eagerly.
You rub your chin thoughtfully. “Well, Valentine’s day is coming tomorrow. So, maybe, we can arrange some sort of date?” you suggest.
“And how are you gonna do it?” Rin asks.
“I’ve been thinking about this plan for the last 20 minutes. This is the part where you come in, Rin,” you say, turning to them. “I’ll pretend to take you out on a romantic dinner date here for Valentine’s day, arranging a literal play date. But once the time comes, bam! It’ll be both of our dads’ romantic dinner date instead!”
“Huh… Actually not a bad plan at all,” Rin praises quietly. “Except for the dinner part. How do you think we’re going to be able to cook meals when you and I can’t even reach above the kitchen counters that well.”
“Well, I can help!” Ash interjects confidently. “Let me help you guys cook. You guys don’t need to worry about me getting hurt because I’m fireproof!”
“Okay, that’s one little problem solved. But do you know how to cook?” Rin counters.
“W—Well, that’s what recipes are for, right?” Ash stammers. “How hard could it be to follow the instructions?”
“I don’t know, Ash…” you hesitate. “Maybe we need the help of some adults.”
Suddenly, a gentle blast of air hits your back as Uncle Luka blinks in with a bowl of popcorn in one hand. “What are you three scheming about now?” he says and the three of you turn around to face him and sit on the sofa properly. “I know that look. You’re up to something.” He squints his eyes slightly.
Speaking of the devil… “Uncle Luka! Perfect timing! We need both your and Aunt Cara’s help. For… something,” you tell him.
He cocks an eyebrow. “And what’s this ‘something’?”
You turn around and try to calculate whether your dads will be out of earshot. But it seems you won’t need to because you hear Aunt Cara calling your dad. “Vitya, you run out of milk. We don’t have enough to make even three mugs.”
“Oh! Yeah, I’ve been planning to go buy some milk but I haven’t had the time,” your dad says as he dries his hand. “Let me go buy one real quick. There’s a corner store just right across the street. I need to get some bread too, anyway. You guys want anything else?” He asks as he walks over to the entrance.
“W—Wait!” Takashi says, quickly catching up to your dad. “Let me go with you.”
“No need, Takashi. It’s just a short walk.” Your dad puts on an overcoat and slips on his boots. You think he sounds unsure despite his words, though.
“Still, let me accompany you,” Takashi replies, awkwardly rubbing the back of his neck. “I think I need some fresh air too,” he adds.
Your dad smiles. “Alright. Let’s go then.” Takashi beams as he quickly puts on his own coat and shoes. “Behave kids, okay?” your dad says, and somehow, you feel like he’s saying it mostly to you. You’ve always been a good kid!
“Okay, Dad,” you answer cheerfully, waving at him and Takashi happily.
As soon as they step out of the apartment, Luka calls out to Aunt Cara. “Cara, can you come over here? The kids are up to something and they need our help…”
She walks over with two mugs of hot chocolate and hands them to you and Rin before turning to Ash. “Yours gotta wait after Uncle Viktor comes back with the milk, okay?” she tells Ash, patting their head affectionately as they nod obediently. “So… What’s this something you need help with, kids?”
And so, you start laying out the plans you’ve talked about with Rin and Ash to both Uncle Luka and Aunt Cara. “So, yeah, I think we need to help them get together or else they’ll end up like Lucio and Anita from the telenovela that Aunt Cara usually watched when she’s bored,” you conclude your presentation.
“W—Wha—” Aunt Cara sputters in embarrassment while Uncle Luka barks out a laugh.
“Caught red-handed by the kids, huh?” Uncle Luka teases. “Really, a telenovela? I’m trying so hard not to judge you right now.”
“I—I don’t follow the story, okay? I just tune in randomly when I’m bored because they’re stupidly cheesy,” she lies and you know she is lying because you’ve heard her cursing at the TV—or more like the characters whenever they did something she thought was stupid. She sounded invested enough then.
Before Aunt Cara and Uncle Luka bicker, you quickly divert the topic of conversation back to the mission. “So, would you be able to help us? Please?”
Both of them turn to look at each other, mischievous grins mirroring on their faces. It’s a sight that sends chills down your spine. “Of course, Sasha!” Aunt Cara answers sweetly at the same time as Uncle Luka says, “Oh, count me in.”
Ten minutes later, your dad and Takashi return home. They’re laughing and chatting with each other about something, which makes you, Ash, Rin, Uncle Luka, and Aunt Cara send each other knowing looks. Uncle Luka offers to help put away the groceries in the kitchen as Aunt Cara continues making more hot chocolate.
Your dad and Takashi’s dad join your little group on the big sofa. You think this is a good chance to start the first step of your plan. “Dad.” You tug on his shirt.
“Hm? What’s wrong, baby?” he asks, looking down at you.
“Can Rin come over for a play date tomorrow? I promised them a romantic dinner date to celebrate Valentine's Day,” you tell him, putting on your puppy eyes.
“Uh… Well, it depends on what time tomorrow and whether Rin and their dad are free…” he trails off, glancing up at Takashi, who is sitting beside Rin.
“We’re free tomorrow, right, Dad?” Rin asks.
Takashi laughs awkwardly. “Yeah… Sure, why not. I don’t have anything to do tomorrow, anyway.” He shrugs.
Your dad nods. “Alright… But I need to attend this gig tomorrow from 11:30 to 5:30, so just to be safe, the date would have to start at around 6, okay?”
More time to prepare! You’ll take it! “Okay!” You send him a wink and a thumbs-up. Your dad smiles and messes your hair affectionately, making you gasp, “Dad!” He only chuckles in response.
Your uncle and Aunt Cara walk over, bringing four mugs of steaming hot chocolate and handing them to Ash, Takashi, and your dad before taking one for themselves.
“Luka, Cara, are you guys busy tomorrow? I’m hoping either of you can help watch over Sasha for a few hours. From around 11 to 6 maybe?” your dad asks.
“Sure!” Aunt Cara chirps happily. “I’m really free tomorrow. Ash and I will come over to watch Sasha, right?” She elbows Ash who is nodding enthusiastically, a big grin on their face.
“I can come too,” Uncle Luka says. “I love spending time with my niblings.”
Your dad beams, “Perfect! I’ll leave Sasha under both of your care then.”
With the whole thing settled, the seven of you all get comfortable as Uncle Luka presses play on the DVD player’s remote.
The next day…
It’s 11 AM and Ash, Aunt Cara, and Uncle Luka are already here to help with the mission, but of course, your dad doesn’t know that. All he knows is that they’re here to watch over and hang out with you.
Your dad is currently buttoning up his beige-colored shirt while you’re browsing his wardrobe, more exactly, in the suits section. They all kinda look the same to you… Wait… What’s that? You see a glimpse of red in the seas of boring black, grey, and brown. Tip-toeing, you try to reach and grab the suit, but you can’t reach it and you make a noise of frustration.
“What’s wrong, Sasha?” your dad asks you as he walks over.
“Dad! Can you grab the red suit, please?” you pant as you get off your tip-toes.
He grabs it and pulls it out. It looks perfect! It’s a pretty dark red, which reminds you of the color of wine you’ve seen the adults drink before, with black lapels. Inside the suit, you can see a crisp white shirt and a black tie draped over the coat hanger. You think your dad will look dapper in this outfit!
“Dad, can you wear it for tonight? For the dinner date?” you ask.
“Sasha… I don’t know whether I’ll have time to dress up,” he starts. “It’s your date, so you should dress up instead of me.”
“B—But, Dad! You need to dress up nicely too!” you whine before sending another puppy eyes. “Pleasee? Maybe you can bring the outfit with you and change into it before you got home?”
He looks at your pleading face and then at the suit before sighing, “Alright, Sasha. For you.” He bends down and kisses the top of your head which makes you giggle. “You’re just too cute for your own good,” he mumbles fondly.
The two of you walk out of his bedroom into the living room where Ash is already waiting. You quickly run up to them and plop down on the sofa next to them before starting to talk with them about the movie all of you had just watched last night.
“Really, Vitya? You’re going to sacrifice time hanging out with Sasha for some engagement party gig that pays like what—2000 bucks?” you hear Uncle Luka speak to your dad.
“1500,” your dad sighs, correcting him.
“That’s even worse!” Uncle Luka exclaims. “Vitya… Just come back. You don’t need to do this kind of stuff anymore. You can spend way more time with Sasha.”
“Yeah, listen to Luka,” Aunt Cara says softly. “Kids like Sasha and Ash. They grow up so quickly.”
“I… I know,” your dad whispers hoarsely. “I’ll think about it, okay? I gotta go now.”
“Okay,” Aunt Cara says as she walks your dad over to the door. “Don’t forget the date tonight. 6 PM!”
You hear your dad’s faint “yeah” as he briskly strides toward the elevator. As soon as the door is closed, the four of you convene, speaking hushedly as if your dad could still hear you.
“So, what are we going to cook for tonight, Aunt Cara?” you ask.
“I’ve been thinking last night, and I think steaks and some green beans and french fries as the side dishes are perfect,” she answers.
“Some red wine would be good too,” Uncle Luka adds and Aunt Cara nods in agreement.
“Wait, what will Sasha, Rin, and I do while Uncle Viktor and Mr. Takashi have their date?” Ash chirps. That’s actually a good question that you haven’t thought about. What you know is that your dad and Rin’s gotta be left alone in this apartment.
“Uh… We can go have dinner outside and then watch a movie after?” Uncle Luka suggests.
“Yay!” you cheer. You love watching movies.
“Okay, that settles it then,” Aunt Cara chuckles. “Now, we gotta go to the grocery store real quick. And maybe have some quick lunch.”
Ten minutes later and the four of you are sitting in Uncle Luka’s BMW. The streets are not too congested at these hours and it doesn’t take long for you guys to arrive at the nearest local grocery store, Urban Organic Market. To maximize time, Uncle Luka is going to the liquor store to buy the wine and to the cinema to buy the tickets before picking you three up. You wanna accompany him because you don’t want him to feel lonely but he declines, saying that he’s not going to bring a little kid to the liquor store with him. “What would people say?” he adds.
As you, Ash, and Aunt Cara step into the grocery store, you are quickly sidetracked by the bakery section where there are various Valentine themed goods on display. You and Ash manage to convince Aunt Cara to grab a box of red velvet cupcakes, saying that they would be great as the dessert.
After that, the two of you trail behind her as she quickly makes her way to the meat and poultry section. Not interested in the talk about meat cut between Aunt Cara and the butcher, you and Ash wander over to the frozen area nearby. A big mistake because the two of you end up returning to Aunt Cara with hands full of ice-cream and frozen nuggets and fries.
Aunt Cara just sighs in defeat as she lets you drop them into the shopping cart. “I’ll need to ask Luka for more pocket money. You two are running me dry!” she jokes. The rest of the shopping trip goes by uneventfully and thankfully, the three of you don’t need to wait long for Uncle Luka to arrive.
“So, where are we going for lunch?” he asks as he drives out of the grocery store’s parking lot.
“Well, we’ll need to go somewhere that serves food quickly,” Aunt Cara hums.
You and Ash look at each other before chanting together, “WacDonald, WacDonald, WacDonald!”
“Alright, alright. Settle down you two,” Uncle Luka sighs. “What do you guys want to order?”
“I want chicken nuggies!” you squeal. “And fries!”
“Big Wac!” Ash exclaims.
Fifteen minutes later, you pull out of WacDonald’s drive through with your steaming orders. You and Ash can’t really wait until you get home to dig into your hot food, so the two of you start eating in the car.
“Hey, be careful back there. Try not to make too much of a mess, okay?” Uncle Luka calls out as he glances at you and Ash from the rearview mirror.
“Okay!” you answer, mouth full.
You look over at Ash who’s munching away their burger. The burger looks good too. “Hey, Ash, can I try a bite of your burger? I’ll trade you with one of my nuggets!”
“U—Uh, sure, here,” Ash stammers as they hand their burger to you and you drop a piece of nugget on their empty hand.
You take a big chomp and savor it. “It’s good!” you tell them and you notice they’re staring at the huge bite mark, cheeks reddening slightly. Oh, maybe you’ve taken too much? “Um… Sorry. Here, have some of my fries!” You dump a fistful of fries on top of the nugget on her hand before holding out their burger back towards them.
They finally snap out of their stupor and take the burger. “W—What are you sorry for? And this is too much!”
“Just take it!” you tell them cheerfully, focusing your attention back on your meal.
