"Wasting all that money is like buying a haircut for Saddam Hussein! And I hate Saddam Hussein! I like his haircut, but that's it." - Hank Hill

When Hank's barber loses his mind, Bill offers to lend his expertise to his pal's surprisingly complicated scalp. But thanks to the wonders of government overspending, this haircut comes at a very steep price that could tear their friendship apart.

Oh man, Kathy Lee Gifford. Well, despite the fact I was born before her son, it was often asked of my mother if she named me because Kathy Lee did. It was the late 80s/early 90s and it was Cody-mania along with the turtles and Bart, and yet now almost no one names their child Cody any longer. And so with this I have created the international council of Codys. We don’t have a telepathic link, but we do feel each others pain, and our backs now hurt. Love the show.

Another note, as someone who started going bald in my 20s (hell, I remember a girl in high school telling me I’d be bald when I was older- ouch!) I would say to not neglect the period before true baldness which I’m in now. Before going completely skin smooth, you can still go to a barber for a nice blended buzz. I’m in the UK, but my neighbourhood barber does a bang-up job for £11 every 5-6 weeks or so, and it’s just something nice to do for myself. Yes I can take it in all the way, but I’m not ready for that, though the gray on my temples is suitably reed richards enough to tempt me. Still, at least I’ve aged passed the point where people thought I was a skinhead! That sucked.

one of the few positives in my life to come out of the pandemic was it got me to begin cutting my own hair, which I've been doing now for going on six years. I do not like being shaggy or having to constantly move hair away from my forehead, so it got to a point in April 2020 where I said "Damn it all" and bought a cheap hair trimming kit online. I really had to learn just how hair worked, the way it grows, and the length I ultimately liked keeping it at. I obviously did not get it right immediately, but society being forced indoors was an easy out for me not having to risk public humiliation. I also was very bad at the barber/customer relationship as I would constantly say "looks good!" for final results that did not, in fact, look good to me. I much prefer a life where I can just grab my own scissors and electric razor when it's time for a touch up.

Its because they needed a live action actor for the Dutchman in the new SpongeBob film.

Comparing the actual, real-life haircuts of Roger Staubach throughout his playing days: Rookie Staubach was a straight military crew cut, while for his mid career he let the top grow out more and sideburns get longer. By the late 70's it's almost like bouffant! At a certain point I think Roger Staubach's hair would be TOO shaggy and "hippie-ish" for Hank!

Huh, I had a spiky haircut with frosted tips in 2000. I *was* a 20 year old lesbian at the time 🤣 IT ALL TRACKS

Pardon my pedantry, but a Hail Mary isnt a "bad" play but it is a desperate play. It essentially means its the last play of a football game and your team is down. Your only hope is to throw the ball as far as possible (ideally into the endzone) and pray that one of your receivers catches it. The opposing defense will usually run an alternative scheme with extra defensive backs that are much further back from the line of scrimmage in order to break up a potential catch by the offense.

Dyed hair, anime club, early 2000s? Sounds a lot like what I went through as well. I have naturally dark brown hair but I bleached it blonde when I went to university. Twas the style at the time. Sugar Ray had such a grip on me at the time and I copied their hair style to the best of my ability. When I got to Uni I was two years older than half the new anime club members because I had gone to community college prior. They needed a secretary to take minutes per the college rules for all clubs so I volunteered and had some of the best two years of my life.

I grew up in a home haircut household because my mom got a beautician's license to pay her way thru grad school back when such a thing was possible. This lead to me learning to cut my own hair, tho I mostly had Bobby adjacent haircuts until I discovered hair care products in my mid 20s. The only haircut I paid for was on my wedding day. As I gained confidence I built up to a sort of messy pompador then transitioned to the mohawk I've had for many years now. The real trick to it is having mirrors that you can angle to see the back of your head and not using office scissors. The talent saved me plenty during my Top Ramen years and I was the only member of my family not looking shabby on zoom during the covid lockdowns.

Post COVID, I had to find a new place to get my haircut and let me tell you, it's not a fun thing to search for. I tried a new barber in my town and whoa boy was that a bad decision. A customer of color entered while I was in the chair and the racist remarks started flying. The all-white staff claimed it was all in good fun and that the guy was a regular, but all I saw was a bunch of white men eager to have free reign to say some pretty messed up stuff. And the haircut was expensive. I ended up at a different place owned by a lone woman barber and it's so much more my speed. She's by appointment only and is always a pleasant chat. Plus she usually has her dog with her which is a bonus.
