This week we present the live podcast we did on January 14, 2020, the exact thirtieth anniversary of the first regular episode of The Simpsons! And we were joined for the occasion by the amazing live guest Jordan Morris from the podcast Jordan, Jesse, Go!

We look back on everything that's changed, some of the best and worst animation in the show, some forgotten trivia, and so much more! And we close with an amazing tribute to lost characters that you should watch for yourself here:  https://www.patreon.com/posts/33349733

Henry is correct that the mambo used is the theme to Real Sex aka Perfidia. This is the instrumental version performed by Mambo All-Stars that was specifically used for that late night series. Link is SFW https://youtu.be/ceuDD1JGpGE

In the vein of season 1 characters changing race, Judge Snyder has flip flopped from white (yellow), to black, back to white, and back to black. Canonically, he's black, and is drawn as such for most appearances, there's just a couple episodes in early seasons where he's white.

It’s certainly forgettable, but I do know that I used to watch Wait Till Your Father Gets Home. I primarily watched it as a cartoon-addicted kid who watched anything animated regardless of content. It aired on Boomerang late at night (as did any Hanna-Barbera drek Warner owned). Unfortunately, though the only things about it I really can recall are the intro where the father is driving over the title of the show, and the family’s conspiracy-theorist neighbor who hated the Japanese. Boy, what a classic character he is. Overall, I couldn’t really stand it because it was just a slower, sleepier version of other sitcoms that Hannah-Barbera had already made. The Flintstones can be rough to sit through now, but I guarantee I’d enjoy a rewatch of that more than Wait Till Your Father Gets Home

In the season 15 episode "Bart-Mangled Banner," there's a joke about the Simpsons being renamed the Simps when they become immigrants (it's a weird episode). I always thought it was just a joke about how foreign-language names were sometimes simplified at Ellis Island, but maybe it's a reference to the first season credits too.

I think my opinion on season one has definitely softened a bit upon revisiting it too - it's fun and weird to see again, even with all its problems and without any of my all-time favourite episodes. I'm very much anticipating getting to Krusty Gets Busted (and even Some Enchanted Evening)
