This week, we've got a story that's almost too big for TV (actually, it is) as would-be Futurama villain Mom causes the world's population of robots to revolt! Along the way, we learn all about the baffling life of a robot made of wax, Fry's Boy Scout ranking, and the proper way to play pelvic pinochle. Will a session of hot, dry sex save the world? Find out by listening to this week's podcast, you pus-dripping sack of double-smoked butt jerky!

Mom is a great heel for Futurama. It’s really so much more of a smarter show to it’s detriment sometimes. The card that bender got was good for a laugh. You can tell this was a boomer written show based on the three stooges references for Mom’s sons (seriously does anyone under 30 Know that the three stooges are?). Futurama continues to have a strong second season even though it’s wallowing in being delayed due to baseball aka boring ball, I wonder if the blearnsball references in later seasons was intentional.

Garbage disposal is the generic term, and Disposall is a registered trademark of GE specifically. InSinkErator is another fun garbage disposal trademarked name; the garbage disposal I have in my house is a Waste King. I don’t know why this industry has so many fun names, but it does.

It's not in this episode but my favorite nonsensically profane Mom line is "jam a bastard in it you crap!". Also, Moe, Curly and Shemp we're all related both in and out of character, it was Larry that was the odd man out.

I am loving these TF episodes on Fridays -- they're wonderful for listening to as I work from home. Great stuff.

The "Blank 2: Electric Boogaloo" meme has also sadly been coopted as the name of the "Boogaloo Boys", a right-wing militia movement all about preparing for a second american civil war who have caused quite a lot of trouble in recent years.

There are only TWO positive traits to Go-Bots. One is that they were cheaper priced than Transformers, which is probably why you got them Henry. The other is that they were actually made of sturdier material and thus could last longer than Transformers. Still that second point was probably the reason for the OTHER reason Go-Bots sucked that wasn't mentioned, their transformations were much worse. Just take a look online for who the Jeep robot has the tire just sticking on his chest, or how the Copter robot has the propeller just sticking out of his back.

I always reconciled Farnsworth's flip from cute creations to atomic monsters as just him being a very purpose-driven and uncompromising scientist. If he's hired to make something cute, he'll make something cute and accept no challenges to its cuteness. On his own time though he's going to make dooms day devices and the like, especially because I bet those can come with a government contract. And it's a sort of a cheat since it's from a later season, but we do know that there is a criminal justice system for robots since Bender gets sentenced to "death" when he's mistaken for Santa.

A viagra joke would be funny if it was in the form of a suppository. "Why Must I Be a Crustacean in Love" was on Comedy Central this morning, and Zoidberg tricks Amy into removing the rubber bands from his claws eight times. I guess they were still figuring out Amy's character in season two.

I cannot stand by and watch this Butch Cassidy erasure. 1. It made over $100,000,000 at the box office in *1969* (around $700 million in 2020 dollars). 2. It is a heavily referenced film, well beyond Duffless, the Singing in the Rain scene is an example, but the iconic shot is the two initiating their suicide run into a freeze frame at the end of the movie. 3. It is a damn fine movie, it is on Hulu, so if you haven't seen it yet, you should fix that!

I fucking love this episode! While I can certainly agree it would've made for an amazing (and better than the ones we got) movie, I still think it's one of the best episodes of the show. Billy and Tress are both ON FIRE in this episode and the animation all looks so damn good for the insane amount of things they have to do in the ~22 minutes they have. In particular, Farnsworth's delivery of "oh yes" once Fry enters the cabin and finds him and Mom very nude on the bed has infected my normal delivery of those words to this day. -- To be honest I didn't even know that the use of Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head was a reference to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - I always associate it not even with this episode but with Spider-Man 2's montage of Peter trying to just be Peter after "Spider-Man no more." Knowing Raimi, that is 100% the kind of movie he'd be referencing with the song use, it's just something I never picked up on, having not seen that original movie.

Webelos is actually a rank in Cub Scouts, when you join BSA the lowest rank is Scout. I also got a laugh out of the idea that kids in scouts aren't nerds, what do you think we talked about all weekend when we would go camping? We'd play DnD, Magic the Gathering, and talk about SNES games all night. I even brought a Gameboy with pokemon red with me on one hiking trip and got all of the kids in my troop interested in it.

A few thoughts on this episode: -Ok, so I swear I heard them say once that the whole "show us the wheel" thing was something they planned from the very beginning. They also said within hours of this episode airing a fan pointed out multiple instances of the wheel appearing. I relistened to the commentary but didn't hear any mention of it. Is it on a different commentary or did I Mandela effect this thing? -On gotfuturama, com this episode's user rating is much lower than episodes that preceded or followed it. I've never understood why, it's a top-notch episode.

I would NEVER wear something skin-tight without some support underneath.

what instrument did you say Ting uses? a booban? or something like that? anyone know what this is?

Billion Backs is by far the worst - literal fan fiction. Thanks again. I say this every time, but Talking Futurama gives me life.

Kiefer Fulsom

So on the subject of Professor working at MOM's in earlier episodes, it IS mentioned briefly during the the video of the professors life towards the opening

Even if you had come up with a good joke soup, I don't think it would have toped the comedy of listening to you two try live on air.
