When I went to the first talking Simpsons live show, my hotel was a block away from Soda Popinskis. I remember thinking "Oh it's that awesome arcade bar all the IGN people keep gushing about". The I walked passed and noticed it could only fit like 10 people in it and the "gaming" part was 2 tvs with consoles hooked up to them. I didn't even bother going in. Why they would gush about that when they have the Emporium which is basically just like quarterworld(movie theater retrofitted into an arcade bar) is beyond me. It also has the added bonus of being Full House house adjacent!

I'm a toy boy so the Super7 announcement got me all kinds of excited. I've been hoping they would go after The Simpsons because it always felt like something they would enjoy doing. I think this is the first proper Simpsons line since the NECA one celebrating the 25th anniversary. That was an extension of the World of Springfield line from Playmates and it was mostly celebrity characters and Kid Rock. This will be a super-articulated line and I have a bunch of Super7 stuff already as I'm a big TMNT collector. Their prices are high, but it's because their stuff is made-to-order and it's usually small production runs. They have a one month preorder window for their lines and whatever gets ordered gets made. As a toy collector nearing 40, I'm happy to pay a surcharge to not have to run around stores looking for the product I want or camp out on a website looking to get a preorder that will sell-out in a minute. Super7 is a very visible company though and podcast friendly so if you wanted to talk to anyone there I bet they'd do it. There's already one on The Simpsons out on YouTube through the Fwoosh channel where one of the designers shows off the unpainted test shots and goes into the thought process for the first wave. It's basically the culmination of a decade of office references and jokes so it's safe to say there are a lot of Simpsons fans at the company.

RE: NECA toys, unfortunately they have... quality control issues, to put it lightly. Stories of brittle joints that break easily (sometimes right as you take them out of the package!) are not uncommon, as least from what I've heard. It's especially a shame since they have really unique licenses, like Back to the Future. If you buy it, best to just keep it in its box. Also, thank you for responding to my bit about Disney's restorations! I remember a time when that information was on like these specific niche forums, so it's been nice in more recent years seeing more widespread talk about this.

Possible correction or maybe I'm missing something but every source I've seen says that Ed Asner DOES play Cosgrove in that Teen Titans Go episode. Listening to the clip it does sound quite a bit different but it could just be the fact that he was 90 reprising a role from 25 years prior. Maybe somebody involved has said definitively but I wasn't able to dig up anything in a cursory search

Around the time that Kotaku got the rights to Game center cx, that was when I was going real hard in the paint for that show. I can't believe Nina had a role to play in all of that! To be annoying for a second, how do you watch the show? It was a lot easier six or so years ago. Is Nina just a torrent hound? They've gotten very litigious 😅

For me, another great Ed Asner role and another case of Andrea Romano being an amazing casting director was having Ed as Granny Goodness in various Justice League productions.

Tavern style pizza (read: thin crust) is the real galaxy brain pizza maneuver in Chicago

Kind of strange that there hasn't been a TMNT What a Cartoon or Cartoon Movie. I've liked the Retronauts eps about the games.

Gentlemen I’m loving the action figure talk!!

Bob, I don’t know how you managed to pronounce my name correctly (no one ever does), but you did. I am very impressed. Also this episode is how I learned Gavin Macleod died. (And yes, I did say this to my husband in the exact cadence of “HEY, DENG XIAO-PING DIED.”)

Speaking to Muppet things that scared me as a kid, the big one for me was this VHS release from Golden Books based on the book “Wanted: The Great Cookie Thief”. https://youtu.be/OPUUG4L63ws The interstitials scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid, giving me nightmares and making me shiver all over. What made them so scary is how well they were animated compared to the rest of it which is mostly still images. Plus the menacing music and the fact that Cookie Monster is drawn as a black shadow moving menacingly don’t help in the least

I used to also have a buffer seat between me and my male friends when we saw movies in high school, with most of us being obese big boys the extra space was nice.
