We're already a month into 2022 and there's no stopping the Talking Simpsons Network from plugging along! In fact, all our podcasts are so far ahead we're already looking towards March! That's because, in addition to all our regular releases like Talking Simpsons, What A Cartoon, Talking Futurama, or TalKing of the Hill, we plan to end the third month of the year with another of our  $10 premium podcasts, and we'll need your help to decide what we'll be covering in March 2022.

For those of you who are new to the Talking Simpsons Patreon, WELCOME. Also, you should know that once a month we release the What A Cartoon Movie! podcast, an extra-long discussion about an animated feature film, exclusively for our $10+ Patreon subscribers. And when we open up the voting for each month's subject, we want all the $5 subscribers to also have a chance to be heard too, so those subscribers can help pick episodes they might enjoy down the line!

Our next 2022 poll has us covering a part of animation history we haven't touched much: Walt Disney's theatrical golden age. Yes, we're laying out four different options for you among Disney's original theatrical releases, all of which were huge moments for the genre of animation worldwide!

So here are the four Disney Classics you'll be voting on:

Bambi (1942) - As the seasons change we all grow together with the prince of the forest in this naturalistic tale of a young prince that greatly advanced animation technology!

Dumbo (1941) - You may have seen a lot of things, but rarely have you seen an elephant fly, let alone see that same elephant get drunk or cry his eyes out as he's separated from his mother!

Pinocchio (1940) - The little wooden Italian boy with no strings who taught the world to fear lying, actors, showbiz, and smoking cigars with redheads!

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) - The one that started it all, proving that a full-length animation feature wasn't just possible, but also very popular!

So please, make your choice known before the poll closes on the night of February 7! And thanks as always for your continued support of our podcasts—we couldn't keep doing all our super-deep movie podcasts without you!

I’m voting Snow White because it’s the first one and I’ve always wanted to watch it. Despite how big of a cultural force Disney is, these 2D Features are a huge blind spot for me

Cody C.

How-a come you-a don’t speak-a with your accent no-more?

Lydia Patti

I’ll never forget being a little kid visiting Italy and receiving a storybook of the original ‘Chio tale. Very Confusing.

Kewl0210

We'll get that Fox and the Hound podcast someday... someday...

Boyd Adkins IV

The only reason I picked Dumbo is because I want to hear you guys roast the crows longer than the actual runtime of the movie.

mavrick

voting Dumbo so I can hear their experience with the Elephants On Parade scene

Dylan (batmanboy11) Freitag

I know I've seen all of these as a kid on VHS, but for the life of me have no strong memories of any of them, really, beyond osmosis of their stories and iconic images. I guess I'll throw my hat in for Dumbo cause elephants never forget if you cross 'em

Frank Grimes

Dumbo, for historical purposes

Chris K

While I'd personally prefer Pinocchio, for purely historical reasons Snow White as the first full-length animated movie ever will offer a lot to talk about.

ThePich

As an Italian is my national duty to vote for Pinocchio (even if Disney changed the aesthetic to Germany grumble grumble)

Melissa Van Pelt

Oh I’m so torn — such great choices!! I almost went Bambi because I love the music from that one sooo much but in the end had to go with the one that started it all

Blake R.

i think from a production and plot standpoint Pinocchio is one of the most interesting. IMDB trivia is a goldmine. Particularly loved that Geppetto was voiced by a Hitler-sympathizer (well...I don't love that part) but during the recording of the boat in Monstro shaking they physically rocked him back and forth with intentional roughness as payback for his being a horrible old crank

ToonJay723

Nice seeing Pinocchio neck and neck with Snow White. I thought the latter would lead by a big margin since it's the first one. I voted for Pinocchio since it's one of my top 10 Disney animated films.

Tanner Methven

Yes! Glad this topic is finally being covered. Of these choices, Bambi is easily my favorite but Snow White or Pinocchio is probably the more interesting conversation.

To Boldly Joe... Moore

Voting for the earliest entry (Snow White) makes the most sense to me. You need the history anyway so why not go in depth/all out? ^_^ Looking forward to whatever wins.

PurpleComet

It would be amazing if Jeffrey Katzenberg still managed to be part of the history segment somehow

ShyRanger

Come on guys, we gotta vote for Snow White so we can see all our favorite characters, like Sleepy, Dopey, Surly, and Romorseful

marathedemon

I rewatched all of these when disney plus launched, and Dumbo is a masterpiece, the others are cool of course, but nothing matches the sheer fever dream surrealness and brightly colored nightmare of Dumbo, also its like only an hour long

SilkiePJ

I'm disheartened by how few votes Bambi is getting because it's so damn good and far more than just the movie with the sad mom death. The animation, the score, the evolution of the characters, it's so good!

Patrick Risolo

Really hoping Snow White is picked for the historical significance and personally because it’s one of my favorite Disney movies.

Kiefer Fulsom

Snow White it’s home for me in that when I was a boy I had it on VHS and it was my favorite film to watch….until it burned in a fire along with my house, then for the longest time I didn’t see it because of A.) Disney Vault, and B.) when it finally did get a rerelease I was in middle school and thought I was too old for those films. So I didn’t get it until the Diamond Edition blu-ray (also my first Blu-Ray.) it’s also interesting in that my favorite scenes where when Snow White gets lost in the first and you had all those Scary faces in the trees, and the shot of the Queen descending her stairs in one scene. I don’t know why those 2 imprinted on me at such an early age but it’s a testament to how good the animation and art is. Also I wouldn’t say no to Pinocchio either, also a fun film I didn’t get until (actually the same time as Snow White on Blu-ray as well.)

Jordan Peters

I would absolutely love a Pinocchio episode! I like the other movies too, but I didn't watch them nearly as much.

Mikey Cox

By coincidence I just watched these all for the first time like a month ago. They’re all good but Pinocchio was the pinnacle for me, such a strange but incredible film, very Ghibli-like in places.

Harry Thornton

I’m all for a Pinocchio episode. Already mentioned the Pleasure Island scene in the comments before, but the Monstro scene is also a spectacular example of what the Disney studio could do at the time. It’s intense, visceral, and fast in a way a live-action film could never be at the time.

Mario Molina

I’m going with Pinocchio. Never seen it in its entirety so this will be like watching it go the first time.

KaiserBeamz

Gotta go with Pinocchio because, while Snow White did set the foundation for the feature-length animated movie, it was Pinocchio that perfected it.

Michael Branson

Alright Pinocchio. That snes game is also one of the best looking games on there!!

Bennett Billard

Given that a whopping 4 versions are on the way, the time seems right for Pinocchio.

D Krom

I voted for Bambi but I hope Pinocchio wins so I can hear Henry and Bob talk about the very dark original story.

Seth

Wow, people really hate Bambi
