Hey folks,

We've mentioned it offhandedly more than a few times on our podcasts, but here's a little post to make everything official. Starting with the first Talking Simpsons episode in March, we'll be alternating between seasons 13 and 3. This means we'll kick off next month with season 13's Treehouse of Horror XII, jump back to season 3's Stark Raving Dad the following week, and so on. (And, of course, push these dates forward one week in time if you're not a patron.)

Since the beginning of 2020, we've had a blast giving these early episodes the time and attention we couldn't give them when we were doing Talking Simpsons after our day jobs, and having recorded a few of these already, I can tell you it's definitely been worthwhile. Thanks again for all of your support, and get ready for our thorough examination of season 13, and our thorough re-examination of season 3!

Always love when you do this it shakes it up, syndicated Simpsons on my fox affiliate fox 5 would run Simpsons daily from 7-8 then from 11-12

Great to hear the re pods of the early seasons have so much more discussion and you guys have different perspectives on some of the same topics you discussed 5 years ago

Love this look back at the early episodes!

Stark Raving Dad? Is this some kind of lost episode or something? I don't see it in Disney+???? Help??? All kidding aside, I'm actually really happy you are sticking with alternating between old and new seasons. Especially looking forward to the 2+ hour long s3 eps jam packed with factoids.

Swaggypeepaw

Happy to have the TS crew none of my homies fuck with lazers

I’m happy to hear about this, I actually subscribed to this podcast I think about whenever you had just first gotten to the end of season 3 and boy has it been a ride.

All in favor of this. I imagine it helps in getting great guests too which benefits all of us.

Adam Esat

Means you’ll be doing one of my favourite episodes ever! Homer at the Bat! :D

DareBear

So glad y’all are continuing revisiting the older seasons! This approach is perfect.

[man with a 42 axle car voice] Yay!

Glad you did this! Now I am just waiting for the 3 hour special for “Who Shot Mr. Burns” to come in 2025.

I’m probably alone on this but I would prefer if you guys just stuck to newer seasons. I’m more interested in the underlying cultural context of later seasons, plus I haven’t seen them as much so gives me excuse to go back to them. I also think you underrate your previous work as while they might not be thorough they’re still perfectly fine. Saying that, I understand from a marketing and guest perspective why older seasons are preferable for you, so feel free to stick my comments into the “does anyone care what this guy thinks?” folder.

David

I like it!

I think this is going to be pretty illuminating since both seasons are the formal start of an Al Jean era, even if one has lasted a lot longer than the other.

Woo hoo! Season 3’s my all-time favorite, I’m glad it’s getting another look.

as predicted, I am ecstatic at this news. Long live the Talking Simpsons family of audio files

PurpleComet

On the one hand, I feel like you did a good job covering season 3 the first time around. On the other, season 13 is pretty rough and this would break up the drudgery of that. Plus I haven't watched season 3 since you guys originally covered it.

Re-watching classic episodes of The Simpsons over and over again...? Sounds like something I'd do! ^_^

One of my most wonderful, happy memories was listening to your "Homer at the Bat" episode while I was on a long run in the summertime with my (now) husband. I think it was right after we first moved in together, which was pretty soon in our relationship, back when we lived in rural Pennsylvania. It was really just a perfect day. The idea of listening to an even better version as I go for a run with him here in Los Angeles, where we now reside (both of us had dreamed of living here since childhood) brings just the biggest smile to my face. I can't wait!

I'm really enjoying the alternating format, the show has evolved and matured quite a bit since you started. I was initially skeptical of the idea of revisiting the old seasons but I'm delighted to have been proven wrong.

Where can I watch Stark Raving Dad ? I don't own the DVDs and it's not streaming or for purchase anywhere

Eyal Shachar

Thx Bob I'll look at my library

I found it on a reddit link !
