Hey everyone! I am beyond excited to finally drop Mortal Needs v2.0.

Honestly, calling this an "update" feels like a massive understatement. I’ve done a complete ground-up rewrite. We’re talking new architecture, a sleek new UI, and a level of versatility that makes the old version look like a prototype. It’s finally the tool I always envisioned for GMs who want survival and drama to feel visceral without the bookkeeping headache.

The Showstopper: SessionFlow Integration

If you use SessionFlow, this is going to change your life. Mortal Needs now has a dedicated Widget that lives right on your canvas.

  • Complete Control Center: No more digging through panels. Add actors, toggle needs, and adjust values with quick +/- controls directly from the widget.

  • Cinematic "Flash": Want to make your players sweat? Hit the Flash button to send a dramatic, pulsing overlay to everyone’s screen. It’s perfect for that "you've been trekking through the desert for days and the thirst is finally hitting" moment.

  • Persistent HUD: Broadcast current needs to a draggable HUD on your players' screens. It updates in real-time, keeping the tension high without breaking the flow of the game.

Truly System Agnostic (For Real!)

One of my biggest goals was to break free from the "D&D-only" mold. Version 2.0 is truly agnostic.

  • Whether you are using Foundry Actors for your favorite indie game or managing characters via Exalted Scenes, it just works.

  • It features dedicated adapters for PF2e, SWADE, and Warhammer 4e, plus a generic fallback that handles Active Effects and Status Conditions for any system. It’s versatile, easy, and feels native no matter what you’re playing.

A Modern Interface

The old panel is gone. In its place is a dark, modern UI with smooth animations and color-coded severity bars.

  • Choose between Horizontal, Vertical, or Radial (circular) bars.

  • The whole panel scales from 80% to 200%, so it fits your screen perfectly.

  • 312 Unique Flavor Strings: Your thirsty fighter won't get the same narrative message as your freezing wizard. It’s all about immersion.

Deep Customization & Logic

From 13 pre-configured needs (Hunger, Sanity, Corruption, Radiation...) to 5 built-in presets (Horror, Sci-Fi, Dark Fantasy...), you can set this up in seconds or spend hours tweaking custom macros and triggers.

  • Automatic Time Decay: Works with Simple Calendar.

  • Dynamic Consequences: Automate condition application, attribute changes, or custom JS callbacks when a need hits a threshold.

This version was a massive effort to make the module feel "delicious" to use - fast, responsive, and visually stunning. If you’re coming from v1, don’t worry: the migration is fully automatic.

I can’t wait to hear how this changes your campaigns. This has been a true labor of love!

Insane work as always! Keeping track of hunger is one of the biggest challenges, as it is the easiest to forget about as well for me :( But this just brings it to life and adds depth to providing agency to player survival and choices. Love the work, Gabú! One of the best module creators out there today.

Really neat stuff. Extra points for the slick UI.
