Hello, everyone!
Before we dive into the juicy details of this update, I want to share a quick update on what’s coming next. Moving forward, my main focus is going to shift toward shipping brand-new modules and tools that I've been brainstorming and designing.
However, before diving headfirst into those new projects, there was one major update I absolutely had to deliver. Following the big v1.0 release of SessionFlow, I wanted to bring the Mortal Needs widget fully on par with the rest of the ecosystem.
So, here it is: Mortal Needs v2.3.1 is officially live, packed with incredible quality-of-life improvements and a completely rebuilt SessionFlow widget. Let’s look at what’s new!
New Features
Secret GM-Only Needs: You can now mark specific needs as GM-only. This is perfect for secret curses, hidden illnesses, regional sanity pressures, or private threats you aren't ready to show your players yet.
Hidden Until Active: Needs can now remain completely invisible on visual panels until their value rises above zero. This keeps temporary or situational needs from cluttering up your UI.
Inverted Needs: You can now flip the math! This makes it incredibly easy to track resources that start full and become dangerous as they empty - like Morale, Supplies, Oxygen, Warmth, or Magical Protection.
General Improvements & UI Enhancements
Character Search Box: The main Mortal Needs panel now features a search bar. Scanning through large parties, NPC groups, pets, and retainers is now instant.
Reworked Tracking Manager: The "Add Actors" dialog now pulls double duty. You can add new characters and remove currently tracked ones all from the exact same list.
Global Reset Button: GMs can now wipe and reset every tracked character's needs simultaneously from the main panel with a single, confirmed action.
Customization & Order: You can now reorder your Needs in the configuration window and assign a custom color to each one for effortless scanning.
New Display Modes: To support different screen setups and table sizes, the main panel now features four distinct view modes: Normal, Compact, Focus, and Categories.
The Rebuilt SessionFlow Widget
The SessionFlow widget has been completely overhauled to act as a compact GM Cockpit, giving you absolute control during live sessions without taking over your screen.
The GM Cockpit: Enjoy a tighter interface featuring crisis metrics, a "worst-need" focus area, faster actor controls, and immediate shortcuts for batch stress and relief.
Flawless Scaling & Safeguards: No more overlapping text or broken layouts! The widget now intelligently adapts to smaller sizes. It introduces safe minimum dimensions, non-shrinking actor cards, and compact drawers to ensure vertical or radial meters never bleed into neighboring elements.
Independent Actor Drawers: You can now open detailed actor drawers for multiple characters simultaneously. Compare stats on the fly while the main widget continues to scroll cleanly.
Instant Shortcuts: The Stress All and Relief All dialogs now pop up directly above the SessionFlow panel when triggered from the widget, keeping your flow smooth and immediate.
🛠️ Bug Fixes
PF2E Condition Fix: Pathfinder 2e users rejoice! Mortal Needs now correctly reads the Foundry v14 condition list. Editing "Apply Condition" consequences works flawlessly, and conditions apply or recover with much higher reliability.
As always, a massive thank you for your incredible support. This module wouldn't be what it is without your feedback. Update your copies, try out the new cockpit, and let me know how it plays at your table!
Happy gaming, Gabú
