Jason stepped forward, his voice low but commanding. “Velithra—take your people and get behind Eva and the Fairies. Now. I’ll handle this.”

Velithra hesitated only a heartbeat before snapping a sharp gesture to her ragged band. They stumbled back toward Eva and the hovering Fairies, forming a thin, trembling line of defense. Gretch threw back his head and let out a wild, cackling laugh. His hunting party erupted into hoots and hollers, stomping their feet and banging weapons together in fevered anticipation.

“Finally! Some proper sport!” Gretch howled, his sharp teeth glinting. “Been too long since I split open a humie’s belly!”

Jason ignored them, stepping further into the clearing’s center. His eyes locked onto Gretch’s, steady and unflinching as the change began. The air shifted first—what had been warm and lazy with the scents of sunlit grass now grew heavy, charged. As if a storm crouched just out of sight and the ground itself seemed to hum a low, thrumming pulse beneath their feet.

The goblins laughed still, oblivious, waiting for Gretch’s signal to strike. But then Gretch’s triumphant grin faltered. His sharp eyes locked on Jason, confusion creeping across his features.

Jason’s body convulsed once, a deep, guttural growl tearing from his throat as the change ripped through him. His shoulders broadened with a sickening pop of shifting bone, muscles swelling and thickening beneath his skin. The big man’s arms lengthened, sinew twisting into raw, brutal strength as his fingers stretched into clawed hands, each talon gleaming like curved daggers.

His chest expanded, ribs flaring outward to house a larger, more powerful frame. The remnants of his shirt tore apart and fell away in shreds, unable to contain the sheer mass of his growing form. His legs thickened, bent slightly at the knees with the poised strength of a born hunter, and his back rippled with corded muscle beneath the rapidly spreading coat of dark, bristling fur.

Jason’s head tilted back as the transformation overtook him, his jaw cracking loudly as bone and muscle reshaped beneath his skin. His face elongated, the smooth lines of his human features pushed forward into a powerful, lupine snout lined with razor-sharp fangs. Coarse, dark fur spread rapidly across his cheeks and jaw, his nose flattening and darkening into a leathery black. His ears stretched upward, sharpening into high, alert points atop his head, twitching instinctively as they caught every sound in the clearing.

Where a man had stood moments before, now loomed the unmistakable head of a predator—fierce, primal, and fully awakened. Jason stood taller now—much taller—towering over the goblins, his form monstrous and powerful. This was no fairy tale werewolf, but something older and far more primal… a force of nature made flesh. Gretch’s eyes bulged, his mouth working uselessly for a moment before he managed a strangled breath.

“Y-You… you have… big magic?!”

Jason’s eyes gleamed like molten gold as he took one slow, menacing step forward. His voice rolled across the clearing, deeper and rougher than before, every word dripping with raw power.

“The big magic… of the Earth Mother.”

With a roar that shook the very trees, Jason lunged.
