On the Darkstrider, the crew was preparing for a long stretch of R&R after the whole media circus they just endured. A couple of them were preparing for some gaming time, a couple of them were going to hit the weights, while others were just going to zonk out. They all figured that they should take the time while they had it, as no matter where they went, trouble always seemed to find them. But before such relaxation could occur, everyone was getting checked out at the medbay on the ship.

“Seriously, mama? A checkup on all of us, right now?” Natalya grumbled.

“Yes, now, young lady! I need to get some basic physical workups on all of us done before we arrive at our next destination! Plus, getting some additional blood from all of you would be a prudent thing right now, considering all the scrapes we’ve been getting into,” Korsa replied in an admonishing tone.

“Your mother is right, you know. Consider what happened to me when we were back on Prodosia. We got lucky that you were all able to help me the way that you could,” Zuzanna stated in agreement.

“Not to mention that we were in a friendly place that was amenable to helping us out in seeing you make it. Should there be a next time where any of us are critically wounded like that, we might not be so lucky!” Inari nodded.

“Ugh! Fine! But can we do the blood stockpile donation after we’re done with our workout?” Natalya asked.

“Very well. The five of us will put that off until after, but the rest of you? Sleeves up and arms out, if you please!” Korsa told everyone.

Everyone did ass they were instructed, as there were now two doctors aboard the ship who were responsible for their physical and emotional wellbeing. They got to work, making sure to do basic scans, workups, bloodwork, and anything else that needed addressing. It didn’t take too long for it to be done, but Matthias and Gloria needed a few more scans before Korsa was done with them.

“Why do you need to scan us like this?” Matthias asked.

“Because I need to get an idea of what needs fixing in your bodies. Living in the wastelands of Prodosia could not have been good for your health. So, I aim to fix any such problems you have. Now, hold still!” Korsa told the man.

Matthias did as he was told, standing as still as he could manage while Korsa scanned his body. Using his peripheral vision, he saw Zuzanna was scanning Gloria with a similar device and looking over the results. Once they were done, both women came together and started chatting, talking shop as they compared notes on their scans.

“Ummm… are we done?” Matthias questioned.

“We are. You two can head on off to do whatever it is you like now,” Korsa told him with a wave of her hand.

“So, what will you be up to, young man?” Gloria asked her son in a mirthful tone as they walked out of the medbay.

“Going to be up in the lounge, introducing some games to Aesha and Luminia. Might do some reading too, as there’s a lot of good stuff out there on the web,” Matthias told his mother.

“Good boy! Taking the time to learn about the kind of women they are is always a good step,” Gloria said to him in an approving tone.

“What about you ma? What are you going to be doing?” Matthias enquired.

“Oh, nothing much. Inari and Priya did invite me to join them in watching some movies. Old sappy chick flicks, with some snacks and wine,” Gloria told him.

“Have fun!” Matthias said as the pair parted ways.

“Wait, wait, wait! You’re saying that you went and recreated the entire Grid on a personal server of yours?” Taal’ani questioned, her eyes wide in excitement.

“Yes, I did. I took the time to sit down and watch some of those old Earth films you talk about so much and found some of them to be quite delightful!” Jaesa replied to her friend.

“Can I come and have a look around? Please, please, please?!” Taal’ani asked, almost begging as she wanted to go so bad.

“Of course! You and anyone you bring with you are more than welcome in such places!” Jaesa told the cat-girl.

“Awesome! Let me get Tahral set up, because he is just going to enjoy this!” Taal’ani gushed.
