The Monster Dueling Club wasn't hard to find. After all, it did have its own large arena, so finding it wasn't the issue. There was just one minor issue in relation to getting started.
"Muahaha! Bring me to the meat! My blades thirst for the blood of-" The loudly shouting young man wearing a stuffed boars head was brutally punched in his bare stomach. Silencing his cries.
The person who punched Innosuke Hashibara was a very beautiful woman I also recognized as Esdeath... That Esdeath, the fact that she was the club leader for a club whose entire purpose was the slaughter of monsters who didn't submit to their summoners, made all too much sense.
"The cries of the weak shoudn't fill the ears of the strong. Quit your yammering and sign your release forms, and I will see what kind of strength you have." Esdeath spoke with a bland, bored tone.
Though this Esdeath wasn't the one I saw being all lovey-dovey with that Kratos... That Esdeath was very visibly pregnant and having 'settled' down, as it were.
This one was bored, wanting to kill something, and did I mention bored and bloodthirsty?
Besides Innosuke, who was at the front of the line, I also had two more people in front of me. A figure wearing Ultra Marine power armor, obviously a Space Marine. And the second one was Maki Zenin from JJK. Burn marks and all.
Esdeath took one look at Maki with the burns crossing her body, the large sword resting partly on her shoulders. And with a small nod of appreciation said bluntly. "You have the heart of a survivor; you're in." Without even needing a name or anything.
Then, as the Space Marine stepped forward, I paused as his thick voice rang out. "Malum Caedo, Veteran and First Born of my legion's First Company."
Esdeath gave him an overlook before grinning and saying. "Yeah... I can see how you climbed past countless corpses. Welcome to the club."
Then it was my turn; I walked up, and Esdeath took one look before she sighed and said. "I am not to fond of civvies. Have you even killed a deer or something while hunting?"
I nodded and said bluntly. "I am being sent to a world where monsters are everywhere. I do not want to die there, so I am here for practical combat training against monsters."
Esdeath's bored expression took on a bit of life before she nodded and smiled. "See, that's what I wanted to hear. I always hear about some idiot wanting to get strong, impress some girl who broke on some monster's dick... Or worse, girls coming here to fall back down into monster cock sleeves."
Esdeath shook her head before tapping the release form in front of me. "Go ahead and sign your release form. This is the monster dueling club, not combat training classes, so you need to understand we won't hold your hand."
I nodded and signed the forms, then I was waved into the large building that had a couple dozen massive arenas split between three different floors.
The event to go and kill those oversized toads, the Chatacabra was set to take place on the upper-level arenas, as these monsters obviously weren't so powerful. Nor having any particular special abilities.
Once I got up to the top level at the low security level. I walked towards the staff member in charge and asked how this actually worked.
And the man who looked like he walked out of a Conan comic explained in a gruff but patient tone. "Them lads over in the summoning clubs and classes inevitably mess up their summoning somehow. Whether it be in controlling the beastly things or summoning the wrong thing altogether."
"When such problems occur, those monsters get shunted over here via the classes built in teleportation methods. And once they are here, they are our problem. And as you can see, there are already a couple dozen of them Chatacabra, stuck in those arenas."
The staff member then looked back to me from the arena we were standing above on a catwalk to ask. "Did you want to fight one alone? Or do you want a teammate or two to help with taking down the beastie?"
I thoughtfully hummed before I said honestly. "This is literally my first fight to the death with a monster. So yeah, having a teammate would probably be the smart play."
The staff member pulled out a tablet and said. "Name, please? I will put you into an arena with a teammate."
He then waved me towards arena three and as I walked towards the entry pad. I was suddenly teleported into the massive arena. And as I took in the large Chatacabra angrily pacing around the rough stone platform we shared.
A loud cry rang out, and my eye's snapped towards a pink-haired figure with a bladed guitar that was crying out as she took in her surroundings. "Wait wait, wait! I wasn't ready yet!? I didn't even tune my guitar, I am going to die here, and my family is going to look at my grave with nothing but disappointment!"
'Wait, is that Hitori Gotoh/Boochi the Rock?' I wondered as I couldn't help but wonder if she joined this club entirely on accident... And why the hell was she in my arena?!
I was supposed to be the newbie having a senior to carry me on my first fight!?
The Chatacabra's pacing turned towards Gotoh, who had turned her back to the monster to start muttering to herself. And with a loud roar, the oversized giant toad began charging at Gotoh.
"I don't like giant toads! Leave me alooooone!" Gotoh cried out as she ran away from the Chatacabra with surprising speed. Was this the power of an extreme introvert running away from people trying to be social?
I looked down at my keyblade, and I muttered to myself. "Did I get put with an iron tier noob with no combat ability on my first fight? For fucking real? I would have been happy with Innosuke as he can at least gather aggro."
With a sigh, I then started running forward as I cried out. "Keep running! i will try to take out its legs!"
And as I finished yelling that... I realized something. I was a newbie trying to stop a giant toad monster from eating my companion. I was literally partly living out our dear lord Kazuma's life over in Konosuba.
