Night City Legend Chapter 27 (Patreon)

The actual production of the Super-Carrier was going to take at least three weeks, even with a literal army of androids and production drones. But I was only going to be able to make the one Super-Carrier for a good while.
Not only because Mar's and the Mass-Launcher's were becoming farther and farther away with each day. But once the Super-Carrier was completed, there simply wasn't nearly enough YoRHa Androids to properly control and guard such a massive ship.
I had... ZERO doubts that the mega corporation wouldn't try to attack the giant ship. None at all. It was only the fact that anyone who went to a space station or one of the lunar colonies would be killed on sight if they had as much as a fucking butter knife that kept them under control.
All those colonies had a sorta universal 'don't touch' deal going on between the mega corporations. Because they were very fragile, and the moment one company decided to destroy another.
Everyone would just throw their hands up, and within a couple of days there woudn't be any of those lunar colonies or space stations!
But those treaties and rules didn't account for massive star ships that could double up as colony ships themselves... Especially ones that had artificial gravity fields.
[Jake, I have an urgent report.] Commander White came online to me with a frown.
I perked up from my deep thoughts while buried within the fine as hell tits of Devola, and I sent her a question mark.
[We lost almost all contact and visuals with the NUSA, Chinese, Russian, and all other submarines. They seem to be have been taken over by escaped Ai's from beyond the Blackwall.]
And that was it. I felt my ass pucker at the thought of the insane war and corrupted ai's that were locked beyond the wall getting access to ALL the fucking nuclear weapons.
Not to mention the special systems used to allow certain special ships and mega corps to actually cross the ocean and not get destroyed by the rogue ai war machine horrors that filled the bottom of the ocean.
"We are so fucked... Alrighty! White, arm ALL of the fucking laser systems on the Bunker right now! Any missiles, any 'satellites,' even if they have credentials or whatever are to be turned into slag!" I cursed out as I got up with with Devola and Popola jumping with my clear anxiety.
I didn't want to live in Fallout! I fucking refused to eat fried cockroaches!
'Wait actually, radroach might actually be more filling than the pseudo-meat people normally get here in Night City.' I thought helplessly.
I turned to check the time and my gaze locked onto the date right next to it on the clock.
"October 21 2077... This can't be a fucking coincidence." I said with a heavy heart.
And, to say nothing of Fallout and Mass Effect's alien issues. Or Resident Evil's massive bioweapon plague craze with every tin-pot dictator wanting to wipe out his enemies with a legion of monsters.
I was very, very much aware that Fallout had some eldritch god bullshit going on in the background.
But this was the most I could as I had my best friend in David and his mom safely here. So with a sigh, I said. "Alright, so nukes might be hitting... Everywhere, is that all White?"
The call went silent before she spoke blankly. "That is the most pressing news. But Umbrella is lashing out at Militech and Vaultech after they raided one of their labs in Chicago. Chicago as of two hours ago, is on full lockdown and quarantine after a new bioweapon escaped containment."
I brushed a hand across my face as I threw on some clean clothes and said tiredly. "What is it? Some airborne T-Virus strain? Still turn's people into zombies and animals into monsters right?"
White's voice was clinical as she said bluntly.
"No, it's not a virus but a waterborne parasite capable of withstanding mild water treatment procedures. The worm's hijack their host's and form a sort of hive mind within the living body and can rapidly integrate other forms of biomass to the host body while still altering it."
'What the fuck bioweapon is that? I don't remember that from the Resident Evil games?' I mused to myself before I asked the pressing point.
"Weakness? Is it just the norm to do a headshot to kill the zombie?"
An info file was sent to me, and seeing a mass of hundreds of human bodies stuck together to form a goliath fifteen meters tall, roaring as it threw a car through a building to grab more victims. I paused at the sight.
Because it didn't make sense. It wasn't a mass of biomass. It WAS a mass of human bodies that were clearly fused together with finger-thick strands connecting them.
"That... Is unusual." I said dryly before White sent another message.
"While this bioweapon's lethality if much higher then even a Tyrant. And it has the added bonus of being immune to cranium destruction with the worms controlling the biomass themselves as a hive mind."
"The worms have a crippling weakness to the cold, acid or highly toxic compounds being introduced to them. Fire, and of course extreme physical trauma that can penetrate into the host body?"
To show me that, she sent another info file, a video of something I actually recognized sorta! It was that sound wave gun from Fallout New Vegas. From the Big Mt DLC. A single shot of the wide-range setting of the gun made another giant of flesh just collapse dead.
I took in all that information and then my face twitched as White then said helplessly. "Jake there is another possible problem. With this corporate war kicking off, it's only a very, very small amount of time until Arasaka decides to join in as well."
And when Arasaka decides to join this pissing contest... That meant that the war would be brought in it's most brutal form to Night City. And by extention my own territory as I was built only a ways outside of Night City itself.
A brutal Corpo War would be the perfect excuse for some Mega Corp to decide to 'inherit' my space station.
