Spiders Forever (Patreon)

Finally, after many years, I took a day to be a dance art video music human and finish Spiders Forever, just in time for Halloween weekend.

One of my hobbies, when waiting in line or bored somewhere or hanging out somewhere where there's music, is doing tiny dances. Dances that use just one finger or toe or knee or whatever, or then multiple tiny rhythms and practicing getting them going together. Before we had cell phones we had to make up our own pocket-sized games. It's the same aesthetic as doodling in math class, even if it comes out in the form of weird spider videos...

Thank you supporters, and especially those who signed on to extra support the weird stuff :D

I'm planning on spending most of November getting a "normal" Vi Hart video done for the main channel, so look forward to that if that's your jam.

I know this music---what is it?? You do know you are an artist, right? I've stolen so many of your Youtubes I'm glad you joined Patreon. This is going to be great for you. So I'm a Tau level patron. At first I thought you meant Tao as in Taoism which gives me peace, but I just learned what Tau is---so you are a good teacher too. My 8 year old loves you as much as I do. Of course you create way over my daughter's mind, still she likes to imitate you with her spiral composition book and markers. She even talks while she is drawing or writing--she tries to a/w. And of course I don't show her all your creations. Sometimes I will explain to her what you are doing. I'm glad you will get the attention you deserve to make more and more videos more often again. I've missed you.

Hi Vi Hart. My name is Chloe Rowe. I'm Ten years old, not 8. Dad goofed up. My brother is 8 and is in no way interested in math. I'm not old enough to write you notes on Patreon, but I wanted to let you know that i think you are real cool too! Do you know of any way I can slow down some of your videos? My goal is to one day be as quick as you are--but for now--i just start and stop your videos a lot. So don't slow them down and make them longer for me, I will catch up with you one day. I made a 93 on my math bench mark test this week. Oh--and your Fibonacci Youtube video was really great. Dad helped me with the parts I did not understand. Dad says you are a wonderful teacher who makes some great interesting quirky art and I totally agree with him. K-----he will do the commenting from now on. (I'm happy you are on Patreon making money now each month. I bet a lot more people will support you each month. You deserve it)

I just reread the original text that accompanied the vid and realized that the first time through I missed the bit about the finger dancing -- I remember that from one other vid at least! And it struck me as true dance! Nice to learn the backstory on that -- I thought that got thrown in at random.

Hi Chloe, thanks for writing, and congrats on your maths! In fact, there IS a way to slow down any video on YouTube: click the settings button on the bottom right of the video (it looks like a 6-toothed gear) and there's an option for "speed". Click on that, and you can set the video to play at 3/4 speed, or 1/2 speed, or 1/4 speed. I sound a little weird, but then again, when don't I?
