It's here! The definitive guide for how to make a hexaflexagon, with all the little tricks one picks up along the way. As I worked on this video I realized there's a lot of assumed knowledge in simple things like folding paper.

Really, though, it was an excuse to make a joke about fidget spinners. I spent SO many hours trying to get the fidget spinner hexaflexagons right and I STILL messed up the pattern a little... I gotta put some time into learning how to photoshop/illustrator better. But I think they're pretty cool and they amuse me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I am excited to be doing this whole endeavor with you all, and thankful that it seems to be working out. Today as I finished filming and editing in some last shots, I was very thankful for my new sharpies and glue sticks and paper and printer and lights and socks and shirt and power and recording equipment and a pile of other things. And I'm beginning to see a future where I don't ditch my family to work 12 hours straight every day even on holidays... but today is not that day!

Happy Thanksgiving, Vi ! We can still go back down to the previous video and click on those websites, right? ...to get the patterns and the one to order the shirts. Your focus and edits and then voice over these veejos--it takes a lot of time i'M sure. I'm just making sure you don't think I ever take what you do for granted. I don't mean to be a wanker fan-man but I do want to tell you I go through these exercises and my hexaflexagon turned out crappy. But I never give up because you make it so interesting. I'm grateful for you. And I am grateful for the joy of learning that you have given to my little Chloe.

I have occasionally wondered, but never paused to find out... ...are there any higher order flexagons _beyond_ the hexahexaflexagon? Like hexahexahexa- etc... I intuitively feel at some point there won't be any more, e.g. because paper would have to pass through itself in a way that cannot happen in three dimensions, but I don't actually know.

I quite like the bright colors and bright lighting!

Now I understand more clearly when i got the message right after after pledge "Thank you for doing capitalism to my existence' . hehehe. Earlier( that notoriously longgggg message i wrote ) it was too sudden and different for me to handle what i perceived as 'the changing dynamics of Y(vihart)' from 'They became what they beheld' video. But now, I am in for the ride. Excited to see how the variable 'y' will play out. Whats next. As far as this video is concerned, seeing your hands create something out of nothing has always been therapeutic for me :) keep doodling (and also capitalizing) .Love.

I used to fold lots of those too! I suppose I should have mentioned the 60-degree angle trick... I just can't bring myself to lessen the structural integrity of the hexaflexagon by adding extra creases. But for those struggling, it's probably worth it!

Holy cow, did you just freehand-draw fractals on this video?

vihart

I have A LOT of practice.

This is a nifty video!
