New video! New video!

Hello good humans,

I could not help but try this bundt cake scutoid experiment based on figure 1 c in the original scutoid paper: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-018-05376-1

Of course, this had to be in a video, and I tried to make things easy on myself by mostly copying the format of the previous video in the series. But I wanted to have a bit more of a conclusion about why to care about any of this, and of course I need to always be trying new things, and so the dogget steals the show! The ending pleases me greatly.

It also reflects the evolution of my own attitude on scutoids. When I first heard about them, I thought it was fun but didn't think they were that unexpected. But after learning more about cells and what people know about cell arrangements and how cells communicate and form structures, I better appreciate the value in having a name, and understanding, of different kinds of cell shapes. Plus now I can visualize it as a network topology problem!

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. Say hello to your cells for me, I appreciate the real cool math bits they are doing to make the being that is You :D

P.S. Yeah, so that egg was in there for over two months. Everything turned out fine.

Genius. I’m now thinking of making a more suitable mould.

That is so cool, to think that scutoids may be one of the ways that cells understand what is going on! Hey, I'm a tube, maybe I should be carrying blood somewhere!

Marek

Also, the talking dog. Nice!

It's been great watching your interest in scutoids grow, and I think scutoids themselves appreciate how great you make them look, but seeing Dogget break her vow of silence to wax ontological over them--OK, now I know we are onto something! And to think I ever questioned their thinghood!! Go, scutoids, go!

Thanks, Vi. I really enjoyed this. I’m going to see if my local donut shop will make me some glazed cinnamon scutoids. Also, Genius Pup.

All video will now be done with Dogmation, tia.

@VI - Hi Vi - do not want to pressurize you - but it has been a year - nearly - since you announced your papercraft version of a scutoid - am in desperate need of being able to build one - do not possess or have access to a 3d printer - do you have - it posted somewhere here on patreon? - am a r e a l l y really big fan of yours ....thanks for all the great work and inspiration - on of my preferred ones is the trump election video about - rural versus city and younger versus older folks in these functionally geographic regions....thanks thax thx thax ....
