The Annual Pi Day Video, 2020! (Patreon)

Hello Good Humans!

It's Pi Day (or almost, depending on your time zone), and the annual Pi Day video is now live!

I haven't been charging y'all for the past few months, but since I made a "real" vihart video this month I'm going to turn it back on for the April 1 charge, and then turn it off again. I figure we can do kind of like "pay per video" except on the 1st of the next month so your charges get bundled with your other Patreon charges and avoids excessive fees. Does that make sense? I might not be up to date on all the Patreon things.

Pi Day Video and Coronavirus:

I was originally going to do a quick and simple video for Pi Day, but I ended up deciding it was important to do what I can to slow 🐌 the spread of the new Coronavirus by sneaking some PSA information into a fun and entertaining traditional vihart-brand video, which hopefully will reach some folks who wouldn't click on a more traditional Coronavirus PSA.

It's been a year since I made this style of video and it was kind of nice to get back in the saddle! But it's also hard to take the time and energy when I've got so much interesting work going on at my dayjob. Nothing like important world events to make me want to push, though!

Pi Day Rant 2020

They were thinking of canceling Pi Day due to the new Coronavirus?? NOPE WE GOT THIS. Stay home, Pi! This year we're doing Pi Day as a purely online event. Please feel empowered to eat a pie by yourself. We're not saying you won't get coronavirus or give it to someone else, but how often do you get the opportunity to save lives by procrastinating and delaying the inevitable? If you switch your Patreon to a per-video model, people will still be billed only on the first of the month. So if someone pledged $1 per video and you make 3 videos in a month, they'll get billed $3 on the first of the next month. Hope that makes sense!

My favorite Vi Hart video EVER! At least, in the last year. And I wish everyone in the world would see it and understand the REAL issue with Coronavirus ... but they'd just laugh and go to a bar and tell their friends about how great Vi's new video was and then they'd all go to the hospital and the world will end.

This is lovely. My workplace cancelled their usual pi-day pie party because of the coronavirus business, and the current contingency plan is to have 2x as much pie on tau day, 6/28. Maybe we can promote tau day from emergency back-up to actual event!
