I’m gonna tell her I love her, and then probably regret it (+ how dare you) (Patreon)

Jeongguk always waits until the worst possible moment.
When he was a kid, he didn’t tell his friend he was allergic to honey until after he ate it, just because he wanted to be kind. When he was in high school, he only said he didn’t like the color of the hair dye until after the hairdresser dyed it mint green. In university, he didn’t tell the girl he went out with that he was gay until after their date.
And so, when Jimin is ready to walk to the altar to marry the love of his life, that’s the moment Jeongguk slips up and tells him that he’s in love with him.
Jimin’s eyes widen, and honestly, Jeongguk should have just kept it in. But the number of champagnes he drank don’t really help the situation.. Why would he burden Jimin with this on his big day?
He can see the emotions flashing in Jimin’s eyes, confusion, fear, and then anger.
Jimin takes him to the corridor, out of everyone’s sight.
“How dare you?”
He asks, glaring at him in a way Jeongguk didn’t think Jimin was capable of doing. Jimin has always been soft and sweet, never so much as raised his voice at him.
Jeongguk swallows, feels his throat burn a little.
“I-I’m sorry, that was a- that was a joke-“
“You think this is a fucking joke?”
“No- no I- Jimin, fuck- I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said anything.”
“No you should have!” Jimin stresses. “You should have, fucking years ago! When I was in love with you.”
Oh no..
Oh no.
This must be a fucking nightmare.
Jeongguk can’t breathe. He can’t move a muscle.
Jimin’s eyes start to water, still glaring at him even though he seems like he just wants to cry.
Oh god.
“You.. were in love with me?”
Jeongguk asks, cause that is the only thing he can really bring past his lips. The only thing that matters right now. But Jimin only shakes his head and sighs.
“It’s way too late for this. I gave up already. I’m about to marry for god’s sake Jeongguk.”Jimin says, drying his eyes with the back of his hand. “I can’t have this right now. Not now.”
Jeongguk feels his heart clench as he looks at Jimin silently breaking down in front of him. Everything around him just burns up in flames. The idea that he could have had Jimin. He could have just said it years ago, and his life would have changed drastically.
Nothing good ever comes from waiting.
“Why would you do this to me?”
Jimin asks, choking up a bit.
Jeongguk wants to reach out and hold him, but he just can’t. He just stands there, leaning against the wall of the corridor, watching his best friend break down.
“I’m gonna go up to the altar. I’m gonna tell her I do, and then probably regret it. And we’ll forget you ever told me this because I can’t-“ Jimin cuts himself of with a sharp inhale. “I can’t do this.”
