He should have, but it’s not exactly like it’s easy to predict. wolves have their heat and rut in monthly cycles, but a vampire heat only comes every other 4 years. And it’s his very first one.

It’s bad enough that he’s traveling with a group with no other vampires, but even worse is that he’s traveling with an annoying werewolf who can smell it on him before he even notices himself.

Sure, he had felt a little restless, but that’s nothing out of the ordinary considering he needs to feed and be alert in case something happens. His body had been burning up a little, but it’s summer, might have just been sunburn.

He did notice Jeongguk circling around him more than usual. But he’s always made it very clear that he’s… well, available. So it wasn’t that out of the ordinary either.

What did strike him as odd was the way Jeongguk kept looking out for him, gave him an extra pillow, an extra pelt, out of nowhere. Even weirder was that he started giving him his clothes. Jimin tried to refuse but Jeongguk would just bring them to his tent anyway.

He only really started to catch on when one late night, Jeongguk sat next to him watching the campfire, inching closer every time he thought Jimin wasn’t paying attention.

Usually, he would have told Jeongguk off immediately, but that night he felt himself crave intimacy. So, he let Jeongguk press up against his side, even kind of enjoyed the ridiculous heat of that werewolf body.

He remembers just staring at the flames, completely in trance, while Jeongguk’s nose brushed against his neck. And he remembers how he let Jeongguk breathe him in, how he bared his neck and enjoyed the extensive nuzzling, which he normally wouldn’t have let happen for the life of him.

Jeongguk’s clothes, Jeongguk’s pillow, Jeongguk’s pelts, all with his scent on it, lying there in his bed.

Jimin couldn’t be more pissed. How dare that stupid werewolf just insert himself in his heat like this? He had cursed and thrown all of Jeongguk’s stuff out, but that never really diminished the scent that already seeped into his bed.

And his heat is fucking unbearable.

It’s only the first night and he can’t function, slipping in and out of consciousness, touching himself over and over with an insatiable lust. He sinks his fangs into the pillow every time he comes, leaking venom all over the place.

It’s in his delirium that he opens his tent and grabs one of Jeongguk’s pillows he threw out, bringing it back just to rut against it, breathe in that rich scent, that exotic scent that tingles his nose as a sign of danger. His natural enemy, he shouldn’t be fucking his pillow.

When the day comes he isn’t in any better state. But Jeongguk opens his tent and lets himself in as if he’s in no danger at all.

Jimin hisses at him, bares his teeth, but at the same time he feels that pathetic need run through his veins. Telling him that it would feel so much better if he actually fucked someone.

Jeongguk says, though he looks like he can barely breathe, pupils dilating, scent getting stronger.
