Okay, very long answer I’m sorry hahaha: One-liners help a lot, I think when I read an interesting piece of dialogue like “tell your girlfriend I said hi” I start thinking about “who of them would say this?” In my head it sounded all cocky and a little bitter as if Jeongguk had said it. So then I establish that Jimin has a girlfriend. But I always need some sort of tension between characters, so I felt like this specific sentence would fit the “exes to lovers” trope a lot. Then I need to know why they broke up, and who broke up with who. In this situation, because Jimin has a girlfriend, I feel like it would make sense that Jimin is not out of the closet, and he’s pretending to be straight because of his environment (family/workplace/friends). Which means he broke up with Jeongguk. Then I try to imagine what their past relationship was like, probably short, messy, since Jimin is in the closet he cant date a guy for a long time, and since he has a girlfriend now, he’s probably afraid of what his environment thinks about him. And Jeongguk would probably only say “tell your girlfriend I said hi” if their breakup was messy, which means they both have an attitude. So I establish their characters: Jimin is a little spoiled, probably has a temper, feels trapped and like he doesn’t have another choice but to date a girl (lack of sex/extremely controlled environment/lack of self-expression) Jeongguk probably fell hard, and got tossed aside, so he’s become a little bit of a “i don’t care about love” person, partying, going to the gym, getting tattoos, getting piercings sleeping with whoever he wants, while deep down he’s still not over Jimin Once that is all in my head, I wonder about the direct situation that led up to the moment of Jeongguk saying “tell your girlfriend I said hi” It could be a few things: for example, they could meet again for the first time, and that eye contact would be insane, because Jeongguk changed so much, it would make Jimin all 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫 and they would have this really tense conversation where both of them don’t really say anything meaningful but they both still feel the attraction, and near the end of that, Jeongguk could say “tell your girlfriend I said hi” as a painful poke Another example: what if they meet in a club, much like last scenario they’re both looking at each other cause it’s been a while. Jimin gets too drunk, Jeongguk gets too close, they end up fucking in a bathroom stall, and then either during that, or after that, Jeongguk could say “tell your girlfriend I said hi” just to be a dick. That’s basically my thought process, after this initial scene I can think about what happens next in the story. If I want them to end up together again, what should happen for the both of them? E.g. —> Jimin needs to break up, Jimin needs to realise his feelings, Jimin needs to confront his environment, Jimin needs to accept himself E.g. —> Jeongguk needs to learn to trust again, Jeongguk needs to learn how to cope, Jeongguk needs an apology from Jimin, Jeongguk needs to feel loved And then I translate that to chapters like: Chapter one: exes meet again and accidentally fuck? Chapter two: jimin is dying inside about how he should tell his girlfriend Chapter three: jimin can’t stop thinking about Jeongguk and his world is falling apart Chapter four; break up and second meeting with Jeongguk Chapter five: Depressed Jimin doesn’t know how to confront family, needs advice Chapter thousand; they confess and live happily ever after Kind of like That?

I don’t prefer one over the other, I just counted for you and my fics/drabbles/au’s are exactly 50/50 in who’s POV I write from! What I did notice is that when Jimin is more dominant, I like writing from both POV’s, and when JK is more cocky/dominant, I like to write from JM’s POV It’s mainly because I like to “see” Jimin in charge in my head, more than I like to see him from a perspective where he is a sub I do like it when jimin is a bratty sub, but then I usually write from his perspective because I love cocky Jeongguk I feel that I like writing from a perspective where I get the best reactions from the other, so for me that’s dom jimin’s dialogue and sub Jeongguk’s pathetic whining?

For sexual tension, there needs to be mutual attraction but it should not be said out loud at any point. For romantic tension, there needs to be mutual pining but it should not be said out loud at any point. Sexual tension: I usually love it when it’s taboo; like in straight until proven gay: Jeongguk is a straight guy who feels this insane sexual attraction to another guy, but he’s too afraid to admit it to himself. Plus, the other guy happens to be his best friend’s boyfriend. These things in itself create tension, because you have a character who wants something so bad but denies himself any release. What adds even more tension is always conflict. Jeongguk is, albeit unknowingly, homophobic, and Jimin is not afraid to call him out on it. These conversations are full of conflict, which creates tension in itself. Another way to build tension is eye contact/describing where the other is looking. If two characters are in the middle of an argument and one of them looks down at the other’s lips, even if it’s a split second, it creates this moment of “what the fuck” which really adds spice I think that most sexual tension exists because either one or both characters know that they are attracted to one another, but they leave it in the middle for specific reasons (like jk who thinks he’s straight etc) Romantic tension: I feel like romantic tension is created when one character realises their feelings and then goes insane? overanalysing everything the love interest does, every touch, every glance, every thing they say. getting jealous of others, making a fool out of themselves because they just really want the other’s attention. All those type of things create romantic tension. Oh, subtext too. Conversations with subtext, like in JOM where Jeongguk and Jimin talk about their type in men, they are clearly describing each other, yet Jimin doesn’t know for sure, keeps overanalysing what Jeongguk says. Or silence, when the contract is rewritten and it says they can now date within the same group, there is this silence. They both know what it implies but they don’t say it, this creates romantic tension. I don’t know if that’s explained well enough, but I feel like those type of things really help

Okay so “getting the idea” varies a lot! sometimes i get the idea because of one-liners Sometimes it’s a part in a series that inspires me (like how a scene in Friends inspired Just One More) Sometimes it’s just a picture of Jimin or Jeongguk. For example with Under Your Skin: I saw Jimin in the Dior shoot and he looked like a spoiled brat, and that was when I was like, what if he’s a spoiled brat fashion student? Conversations with friends, like Suck You Dry and my first text AU, they were inspired by stupid texting between me and my friends. Also! Prompts and stories can inspire me too, so sometimes someone makes a prompt and I’ll read it and think of a twist on that prompt. So for example, I think I saw a ‘dilf jk x brat jm’ prompt on my tl and I was like: but I want a dilf jm x brat jk, that’s how Dark Desire started Or for example, I read this story like everything glows, and then thought of how cool it would be to write about human x creature stories, that’s how overruled started! So that’s the idea part I think? Then what I focus on; For longer stories specifically I always want to write a story where one character wants something that they can’t have, however silly it may be Suck You Dry: Jeongguk wants to blow Jimin but Jimin wants to eat him (he’s a vampire) SUPG: Jeongguk wants to have Jimin but Jimin is taken Dark Desire: Jimin wants to resist Jeongguk, because jeongguk is way too young and his daughter’s boyfriend, but he can’t In Close Quarters: Jeongguk is so down bad that he just wants to fuck Jimin, but they’re friends and they’re in a communal sleeping unit So, those type of “character wants something but can’t get it” is always in the big plan. I need a character to face many obstacles, (be that having 252826 orgasms in a communal sleeping unit, or a vampire that just won’t give up wanting to eat you) that’s what makes a story fun and compelling With shorter stories it’s not that important, it usually focuses on a miscommunication: Why don’t they just confess: they both want each other but think the other thinks their friendship will suffer under it if they confess Friends who jerk off together stay together: They both want each other but Jeongguk thinks Jimin is straight and Jimin only dates girls because no other guy could compare to Jeongguk So that’s usually what I focus on after the idea. “What does my protagonist want, but can’t he get?” After that it’s usually pretty easy for me to get into it. Ooooh that’s a good one, I think trope would be to maybe one day try to do “accidental magical genderswap” where jk turns into a girl and Jimin is like 😵‍💫 would love that maybe one day? just the idea that Jeongguk is trying his best to find out how the fuck to turn back to normal while jimin is like “I want him to sit on my face” makes me feel things I think Kink specific would be knifeplay? I think I have a good prompt where that would be kind of hot And habit-wise I usually like writing at home but I can write anywhere. If I do write at home it’s usually in the evening/in bed, and I love drinking cappuccino and having a lil chocolate for myself when I write! And yessss my god!! SUPG was supposed to be ‘sweet’ gay jimin falling for ‘even sweeter’ straight Jeongguk, I once wrote a mini scene with this concept. I wanted jimin to be completely smitten and so very sad that jeongguk could never be his, and I wanted that light banter and that flirting between them to be so good and so painful. And then suddenly, SUPG ended up the way it is now, because I got influenced by so many other things along the way hahaha

Your take on that trope also makes me feel things, oh my god 🫠 Especially if Jungkook in his panic to turn back did not even think about what his new body could experience and Jimin is the first to point it out and also very happy to assist 🫠🫠🫠 Knifeplay is such a good one, there aren't nearly enough fics with that trope 😭 The difference between your original idea for SUPG and what it ended up as is CRAZY, I can't even imagine Jikook from SUPG being that soft with each other (yet).

LMAO the first question I feel so fucking called out So,,, you might not know this but I SUCK at coming up with titles 😭😭😭 I SUCK SO BAD so,,, sometimes I tell my synopsis to chatgpt and ask what would be a good title 😩 (in close quarters, open door policy were uncle chat’s idea) sometimes I ask a friend. This is usually somewhere completely near the end of a story. I always give my stories names such as: to fuck the phobia out of the homo Just so that I know which story it is, not because it’s really a good title 😭 Good one! Lately I actually imagine more about the readers, I’ve learned that a lot of the time writer’s tend to overshare while readers just want to figure stuff out for themselves. So I have been cutting all the obvious words out like “he seems surprised” I’ll instead just write “his eyes widen” or something because that’s more immersive for the reader’s experience. Once I get into the story I tend to forget this though, cause then it just flows Oh another good one. I think if I’m speculating about canon Jimin, he’s once subtly voiced his interest in erotica, also he’s both a brat and a brat tamer, I don’t think he likes to be in pain since his hands hurt as soon as he applauds? I think he’s generally pretty good at dirty talk, since ‘shameless’ is associated with him, feel like he also canonically likes to be praised so he probably would like that too For Jeongguk, I think he’s definitely got some sort of scent kink, since he’s got like 8 humidifiers, scented candles, etc, he needs someone to smell good. Namjoon once said Jeongguk likes to “torture his senses” even though that was a joke I think he’s definitely a sensory type and loves to be blindfolded. He also said he watched love and leashes, which is a dom woman with a sub guy, and the woman at some point steps on the guy with her heels, I think he would kind of like that? Idk, it was a hot scene I always write on my phone! Always always hahaha

It’s stupid and funny and weird and not too nsfw, and I feel like the characters are both pretty normal For JK, maybe underwear looks better when it’s off? I think he would like to see himself as more of a cool character, and he is in most of my fics kind of a sub I don’t think I’ve ever felt guilty about writing something.. mmm… can’t think of anything? I’d love to be paired with Jimin, I feel like he’s easier to work with, plus I know he reads books, Jeongguk can be stubborn and I feel like he’d wanna do it his way ONE KINK? 😭 uhhhhh humiliation probably it’s so good

favourite is the beginning!! the meeting between the characters, the conflict, establishing what the protagonist wants and what’s in his way, I LOVE that part. And I love the tension and drama all the way through I hate writing endings. They got together and I don’t care actually what happens after? For me a story ends when the characters confessed and are together. All that “now they go on their first date and see each other’s parents” is not for me 😭 I love getting the idea, love writing it, hate editing it, hate ending it hehe

Yeah I do feel like I repeat concepts but I don’t feel like I repeat stories. So I like the concept of “straight jk x gay jimin” a lot! But I will just make their characters and the setting different. For example; SUPG Jeongguk is a guy with internalised homophobia who pretends he doesn’t have it To fuck the phobia out of the homo Jeongguk is also a guy with internalised homophobia, but he also outs it, and he’s a little dumber, and also more of a spoiled rich guy And from the mini scene where Jeongguk is a football player and Jimin his physical therapist, he’s also a ‘straight’ guy with internalised homophobia, but he’s also a corrupt, terrible person overall who wants to make Jimin feel bad Does that make sense? They’re all athletes: a volleyball player, a baseball player, and a football player They’re all homophobic, all straight, but they still have different fonts

If I struggle I look through the one-liners, and before I did one-liners I would look at prompts on Twitter or Ao3 and tweak them to my liking, otherwise I would look at pictures of Jimin and Jeongguk on Twitter and wonder what type of vibe both were giving and under which circumstances they would meet if it was an alternate universe Mmmm and also just series and books!

I think I could write my own characters but jikook makes it easier to envision? I don’t like thinking about what characters look like, I genuinely don’t really care, having a standard description of two guys who already have insane chemistry works really well for me, but I want to try to detach myself from fanfiction at some point and completely write my own characters. In theory, SUPG isn’t based on bts at all, I could change their names and appearances and it would be completely an on its own standing story

I usually don’t listen to anything while I write because I need hyperfocus! Love multichaptered fics! I like a mix of in-character and out of character, or in our terms, canon and not canon. I like when certain things are canon (jimin older, Jk younger, jimin wanting to be respected as the oldest and jk testing that) but I also like making characters really morally grey, so hahaha Fav trope is enemies to lovers always Jikook is my otp Notp is jinkook, I don’t really vibe with it I plan my writing since this year, usually it was like “I feel like writing now” randomly Overused words or phrases that make my eye twitch…. I think when someone uses a million different words for “says” or when people write things like “he asks questioningly” or “he said jokingly” I don’t like those type of words, it should be obvious from the context Then,,,, things like “tongues battling for dominance” I think could be described better or when people use “penis” instead of “dick or cock” I die a little inside I struggle with writing conflict between friends. I like conflict between the two main characters but I struggle writing conflict between the main character and anyone else, it’s difficult because friendship is something precious and fragile and since my focus is on the love interest, I generally ‘care less’ about side characters and struggle to make that connection and bond feel real enough for the conflict to be interesting

Language learning is fun! (Ignoring the not so fun parts) I tried learning Korean so I could understand the members without subtitles, but I'm never consistent lol, so i don't know much about writing Korean but I can understand 70-ish % of what they're saying, or I get what they might be talking about. So it's just my 1st language +English+ bit of Korean. Oh reaction videos are fun! I personally still don't really like cheating fics😭 that's just a lot of sad and guilt for my poor little heart. I don’t know a trope that’s really only about that, but I do like it when characters get jealous in stories, I even like extreme jealousy (like in Three Strikes where Jeongguk is just spreading negative energy whenever someone is in Jimin’s vicinity), I don’t really like ‘possessiveness’ as much but it depends on how it’s written I think. I don’t like when characters are very clingy I think I would really rather die than any of them finding my account, I would be mortified, I write for you all and for myself, but I feel like fanfiction is absolutely not something the artist should ever see 😭😭 Mmm, I think Yoongi said he once wrote a story about a male singer and a male athlete, so I think he’d be the most open to read about two guys. Not sure what his preferred trope is, but looking at his capability of storytelling in his songs and the intensity of his lyrics, I think he would like SUPG cause it’s a longer story about volleyball players with flawed characters
