I hope you all had a good weekend!

Neat. I was about to come ask the same question.

The design of the soldiers do remind me of the Imperium soldiers, when I look at them. The silhouettes are similar.

CallumStephenDiggle

Yeah, I’ve tried to make it follow on aesthetically in a loose sorta manner. I’m glad that comes across, thanks.

fluffy sophism

I really love the movement sequence of the second panel

Miningation

Oughrighadd is probably seeing Losté avoiding this small army like: Damn this guy is good.

Planetace

I dont think that's Loste, but maybe it is.

CallumStephenDiggle

Low fall damage, but it’s still going to hurt a bit, free fall (terminal velocity) on the moon is about 20mph. Oh and in reply to Planetace: that is indeed Losté.

CallumStephenDiggle

Damn dude that’s some interesting stuff! I appreciate you going though the effort to do the calculations there. Yeah there’s some pretty heavy plot armour going on here, I must admit, but we all know he makes it out alive of course, it’s just a case of how. you’ll see in the next panel a vehicle breaks his fall and he injures himself pretty badly, so I think even given what you said here, it could probably work. I’ll be back with the next page soon, I’m just working on a new commission for one of the Patreons 😁

Air Nikes don’t fail me now!

Are these directed energy weapons, or ballistic weapons propelled by what looks possibly to be a man-portable electrochemical firing system? The latter would explain the umbilical, lack of a visible magazine, muzzle brake (and muzzle flash)...

CallumStephenDiggle

I imagine them being energy weapons of some sort or another but if you can think of something more specific that would work with this design, I’ll take it on board and make it canon 😁

Shawn Bond

I thought them to be binary propellant.

The Real Hoopties of Genesee County

Either way is plausible and interesting. Electrothermal-chemical systems have been under development for a while, and the jist of it is using liquid propellants ignited by a plasma igniter instead of gunpowder contained by discrete cartridges. The intended benefits would result in greater velocity and ballistic performance while eliminating casings and primers, reducing waste heat and recoil, and the possibility to tune individual loads to specific firing solutions. While current efforts are towards heavy weapons, I wouldn't rule out the technology being tried for small arms in time. For this application, it means no magazine, cartridges or ejection port to worry about, just propellant liquids and projectiles. On the other hand, some sort of laser or plasma weapon would also make sense with the mass restrictions of space flight. The US Air Force was looking into ultra-high velocity plasma railguns in the early 1990s (Project MARAUDER), but went quiet shortly thereafter. Just tossing ideas around, love the comic and design styles!

What Real Hoopties said for electrical chemical. Binary propellant is the use of two relatively inert liquids combined to produce energetic reactions as the propellant force. Typically the ignition is electrical. Another benefit is that BP allows for safer storage and handling…harder to cook off rounds without both liquids present AND in the proper mixtures and phase states.

They are really bad at their job

Diggin’ Losté’s shoes! The soles look like He got ‘em to help in his moon parkour. Also, have you seen that man in France scale a balcony to save a dangling child? Would love to see more Losté action like this:)

CallumStephenDiggle

Cheers aha yeah, he’s dressed for the occasion. Them french are always going hard at parkour, I feel like most clips I see where parkour is being preformed are coming out of France. I haven’t seen that particular clip but I’ll see if I can find it and give it a watch 👍
