Vjordaxian society is feudalistic and heavily religious. Much like in early feudal Europe, every member of the warrior class is what would essentially be referred to in modern parlance as an elite, or high-born. Though perhaps a more accurate term would be aristocrat or nobleman. These are the decision makers and lawmen of their civilisation, they are judge, jury, soldier and executioner rolled into one. Other than the king, the warriors, or Knights as they are commonly known, are the only members in Vjordaxian society that are landholders. That is where their knightly title comes from, vassalage to a lord and the holding of a fief. Of course the possession of a fief is contingent on the vassal performing his owed service, that being knightly duty to his lord. This order of vassal and lords goes right the way up to the king like many links in a long chain of faithful personal connections.

Of course this can lead to fracturing and balkanisation within Vjordaxian society, but I wont elaborate on that here.

The life of the average knight is guided by their unwavering faith in their pantheon of ancient gods and by their commitment to the chivalric code. The core deity that their system of belief centres around is the son of the primordial being named Tacictax, Tacictax serves many functions, but his primarily function is that of the god of war.

The warrior class are the face of the Vjordaxian race most presented to the Many different sentient species of the galaxy. But this face is a welcome one to many. The Vjordaxians serve as protectors to the many pre-space flight sophonts of the Milky Way. Their honourable affairs abroad have lead them to be lauded by the UGA, to which they were subsequently granted full membership and are now often hired as guardsmen. Because of their heroic tendency to protect the less advanced species, this has lead them to run-ins with the Dominion, an empire characterised by its use of slavery and its direct opposition to the UGA. One recent hostile encounter was the Dominion lead siege of Athena-III where the Dominion very nearly wiped out the Human/Gallic colony. During the assault the Dominion were met with stiff resistance by an order of Vjordaxian knights known as the “Blades of the Emerald Star”. Their leader famously boarded and took out an entire battleship single-handedly, claiming its captians head as a trophy in the process.

You should see the shitty concept he had to work with, glad you approve

Neil Delaney

As always, @CSD - I am in awe and sincere appreciation. This is... awesome~!!

Ryan

Corplos

Tacictax Vult!

Etowno

Cool flag like the Isle of Man

Ryan

I’ll make up a lore reason for that maybe three ancient Vjordaxians had to battle an army of hundreds and somehow won so the trio were worshiped as gods or something

Ryan

You know how some seas slugs have to spare and whoever loses becomes the mother? Same thing woth Vjordaxians they “wrestle” and whoever loses has to bare the child but the two competitors become lifelong partners

CallumStephenDiggle

Oh absolutely, but you’d need to embrace the spirit of an aristocratic warrior poet.

CallumStephenDiggle

Well this is just a commission for Ryan so it’s his imagination you have to thank for this one, I merely added upon it. Thanks Davide!

Davide

Ops my bad :)

Davide

War cock

CallumStephenDiggle

Yeah it’s a fusion of the Isle of Man flag and a few other medieval shield crests, thanks Etowno!

cubirk

like the imperium of man but less "exagerated"

Fruit hat

Oooh is there more of this?

CallumStephenDiggle

Yeah there is, if you go onto the bonus tag, or the commissions tag, you’ll find a bunch more from Ryan’s universe.

Ryan

To date Callum has drawn 9 of the intelligent species from my sci-fi universe eventually I plan to kickstart it as a book akin to barlowes guide to extraterrestrials
