I really like this. Subverting the 'personal ghost' clichè into something like 'I can also see you because I'm just that capable, and you know what? Let me do you a favor and actually make you able to interact with others as well'. The vast amount of wholesomeness in this apocalyptic future surprises me again and again. 👌👍

Nerd-Question: As Belfast is injecting the image into Losté's brain: Does the image stick while he blinks/closes his eyes and zooms with his field of view too or does Belfast fade out everytime Losté's eyes are closed or he moves his head? First will be haunting for Losté, second will be bothersome for everyone else watching him, i guess.

I’d say they have 25 years to become aquatinted, but most if not all of the crew will be in stasis with Losté and Skiv.

Thanks, that was an interesting take. Yeah, there’s got to be a bit of light in the darkness, you know? Humanity Lost is a pretty dark setting and I can’t be bringing the reader down all of the time. Losté is going to make a lot of friends along the way and there’s always the hope that they may succeed in their mission.

Thanks! I think It gives him the presence in the narrative that he deserves, plus it’s pretty fun drawing a straight up Celtic god in this science fiction story, it gives each scene a unique visual flavour. you’re touching upon something there, but I won’t spoil anything.

Excellent drawings as always, it will be really fun to see this version of Belfast in an environment so stylistically alien to him, plus we are told that the psychic powers of Deicide, and therefore also of the other Overfathers, are tremendous

I believe Belfast can control how to show itself to others so I guess it will opt for the least annoying option for everyone, maybe sometimes it will pop up and disappear for fun :)

Thanks! Yeah, it will be really cool seeing him on a moon without an atmosphere or something, that’d be very surreal looking. the Over-Fathers are extremely powerful beings, both psionically and physically, yes.

Great stuff! Also, the background details like the chairs that look like they can seat a 4-legged creature as well as Losté Appreciate how you have humanized the Over-Father like he really cares and talks normally now that they are safe

Thanks, Gabriel! Yeah that’s right, they’re the same as the chairs on the bridge. They’re Conglomerate universal chairs meant to accommodate most terrestrial species. Now that the pressure is off, Deicide can take a bit of time to get to know Losté. Deicide is a very empathetic character, you’ll get to know him a lot more as the story progresses.

The thing is, Deicide didn’t make Uthipidus from scratch, he was one of Deicides pre-existing subordinates of exceptional loyalty and ability. That’s why Deicide chose him to exalt to being an Overfather of his own, but the experiment failed and how he’s stuck between states. That’s why he’s somewhat asymmetrical looking. Deicide could perhaps change the way post-humans are being produced on his womb-world though and make them look like modern anatomical humans at some point in the future.
