While the city looks great, I think the dead forest looks spectacular!

Ing. Timotej Bodzás

Just the idea of a whole city being frozen in time and preserved by the vacuum of space for centuries gives me real chills.

Amazing world building ideas.could you maybe explain a little bit more about the terraformed lavatubes?espacially about the headlights.are they using reflexted sunlight and if so how do they gather it.i could imagine moon dust could be a problem for a horizontal transparent window.

Hmm where to start… The lava tubes on the moon are much larger than the ones found on either Earth or Mars due to the lower gravity. The moon has no atmosphere or magnetosphere, so the surface is a hazardous and irradiated place. The most ideal place for human settlement on the moon would be subterranean. Of course the issue with being underground is that there’s no light. To fix this issue, two near crescent shaped mirrors were installed parallel to one another snaking across the ceiling of the lunar lava tube. There is a transparent hermetic seal at the closest point between the two mirrors. To regulate day and night, orbital mirrors and tower mounted mirrors lining the surface cast light into the tube through the long lunar night. Shades block out the light in intervals during the long lunar day giving the tubes the impression of the 24 hour day/night cycle. As for lunar regolith, I hadn’t thought of that, I’m sure there would be some way of having automated maintenance robots clean the dust off the mirrors though. Once the environment was completely sealed, it was then terraformed using biologically altered extremophiles and by melting the pre-existing ice. There are hundreds of these terraformed tubes under the surface of the moon.

Thx great idea.espacially the orbital mirrors.really like your take on the moon base trope

Stephen your explanations make the story extremely realistic, nothing is random everything has a reason

CallumStephenDiggle

I’m glad you think so ☺️ I’ve really tried to flesh this world out.
