This story is, so far, exceeding my expectations on RoyalRoad. If you haven't already, and you're enjoying the story, leaving a positive review there would be greatly appreciated. That's the best way to ensure that more of this gets written.

Thank you! Is it possible we could get an epub or text in patreon? Google docs doesnt play nice with TTS.

Nat: I'd really like to wait for others to take these shadow skills so that I know I can pick a sure winner. Also Nat: I can't believe these terrible criminals are just waiting to decide on a faction so they can pick a sure winner.

You can export an epub from google docs from the edit/comment link. On mobile: Share and Export > Save As > Epub.

Added, sorry about that, I had forgotten to add that step to my publication checklist.

Invisible remote viewing through multiple perspectives? Nat has the coolest power set, if he can get higher capacity for multiple perspectives he's a logistics god

Karl

You uploaded the next AGARES batch instead of the DP epub

Welp, this is why I don't like putting out two things at once ... that's obviously unfinished, so pretend you didn't read it.

Karl

I don't even have to pretend!

Nick

Thank you uncle

I think it has been roughly established that what you do with the power leads to specifically subskills right? I think it would make sense for him to try to make his minions extensions of himself - like through his new remote vision, trying to make then more independent by sending thoughts, to see if later gets a clone skill. Also maybe try making them stronger physically? They kinda suck now, and I don't ser him worried about it.

It's actually really funny that there's a gunslinger class? Majjyck can do a lot, but there's also something to be said for pre-existing training, and countless humans the world over would already have proficiency with and ready access to guns (lots of guns). Add skills on top of that, and...not to mention the knowledge that "guns don't work" is its own form of weapon. You never know if the guy who's strapped is an idiot, a Pistoleer, or some other class that can incidentally do something else with a gun. So the question you've gotta ask yourself is...you feelin' lucky, punk? Hoping that Paul sticks around, he does a lot to round out the <s>party</s> startup. The three main characters end up shouldering a bit too much of the...burden of character development otherwise, it's a bit cramped. Like it's both plausible that Charlotte has a Hellcat Mode, and also this lives in tension with the "I have to actually hurt people" qualms, the burden of which Paul would have picked up otherwise if he'd been around earlier (hypothetically). I really hope Nat doesn't go full Skitter.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised, when he complained about his new skill, it seems really strong to me. This makes his minions so much more useful.

All of us were killers except Char (um, she murdered first, subspace...)

To me the shift from verbal to telepathic communication should be stunningly transformative and he barely even thinks about it.

I'm so glad this story is not stuck in a vault, I'm having a lot of fun reading it

He’s on the same spectrum as Queen Administrator, it looks like

Really liking this story! Will you be posting it chapter by chapter here, going forward?

M

keeps being cool, thank you for writing!

Not Relevant

For patrons, he releases a batch of chapters every Monday. I assume that after Book 1, he’ll switch to the same release schedule as non-patrons, just a set number of chapters ahead.

I don't know your browser or platform, but Chrome on Android has the "Show Reading Mode" functionality that turns Google Docs into TTSable text.
