The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck! WTF JUST HAPPENED!?!

Files

Comments

Crimson

I find Lena’s expression at 36:40 very telling when Scrooge stated his concern about the girls being lost or hurt. Magica has made it clear that she doesn’t care about Lena, not in the slightest, through her actions and also by just flat out saying it to her niece. It’s at this moment Lena realizes that besides Webby, it is possible that more people are capable of genuinely caring about her and her safety.

Coboat

The life and times of Scrooge mcduck is actually a reference to the comic by the same name that gave Scrooge’s his backstory

Alex Koder

That moment where we thought Webby bit it was a real gut punch. Especially when the episode premiered.

Alex Koder

Prior to the recent Doctor Who Trilogy, this was the closest we ever got to a Doctor & Donna Noble reunion. And lord you are going to love the season 1 finale.

Elias Cristerna

21:47 I pretty sure the "Clever girl" line was just a reference to line spoken by Muldoon in the original Jurassic Park movie.

Rachel Espiritu

We've spent the whole season looking for the triplets' mom, so no one ever expects the big reveal that Tenderfeet is actually their dad! Can't WAIT for his reunion with Della! Also, Webby still being all surprised that Lena actually does listen to her, even this late in the season. That's pretty sad in its own way.

Reym

One of the things I love so much about how the writers chose to tell Lena's story is that aside from her very first episode (where we were introduced to her through Webby) we're seeing it from Lena's perspective. It probably still would have been good if it were from Webby's perspective noting there was something wrong and investigating for the truth, but this way we get to know who Lena is and come to care for her not just as Webby's friend but as her own character. I really like that Webby's role in all this is just being herself and enjoying being around Lena just because she likes Lena. It's something she's probably never experienced and really explains how she got so attached. I really love these episodes despite how stressful they are and I'm really enjoying seeing you get into them too.

Mr. Waspman

21:40 "Clever Girl" is an iconic line from the movie Jurassic Park. You're the first person I know who's never heard of that reference. It feels so surreal.

Tangerra

If you didn’t catch it, the Tenderfeet character was based on bigfoot from A Goofy Movie.

Alex Koder

I kind of like the insane theory someone came up with in a story about how Scrooge obtained his Money Bin. Granted it involves the fandom of She Who Will Not Be Named. Essentially Scrooge proved such a good businessman that he got the Gringot's Goblins to loose 2 of their most valuable vaults. Something the Goblins do not like to acknowledge.

Mr. Waspman

24:02 So, if Scrooge earned his #1 Dime when he was a child, and he earned it in 1877 like Webby said, that means he was still a kid in that year. And it lines up, since Webby literally confirmed that he was born in 1867 at 7:12 JUST as you paused the video.😮‍💨😂 He's only 150, not hundreds of years old.

Alex Koder

I do not trust Unicorns/Sword Horses. I've watched Legends of Tomorrow. I remember the scene of a Unicorn eating the heart of a Hippie during Woodstock.

Alex Koder

Actually Moscow, Aunt Magica doesn't exist. Lena has schizophrenia. She's hearing her voice in her head and thinking Magica is real.

Mr. Waspman

7:12 You paused and missed it, but Webby just confirmed that Scrooge was born in 1867, AKA, he's only 150, NOT hundreds of years old like you've been mishearing. I was really hoping this episode would finally clear that up.

Flufux

That has got to be the most random out of context description of a scene I've ever seen.

Flufux

Given how the rest of the show up until this point have been, I can safely say I did not expect Ducktales could get this dark until I watched this episode for the first time.

Ferret

"Clever girl" is a reference to Jurassic Park. This is foreshadowing of the eventual reveal that Tenderfoot is secretly a velociraptor.

MxFlix

Li'l correction when you're showing the Lifetime of Adventure song: It's not based on the show, it's based on The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck comic book, which this show takes heavy inspiration from :)

Someday Sera

Now, as per the trend, you've gotten a big lore heavy episode, so next week is some fun but irrelevant filler, where you may or may not finally get an answer about launchpad's off camera sidequest during the lucky gander episode.

CaptainChar

you can record as much as you want and post it when you want, its your content

CaptainChar

also the fact the show out Mosco'd Mosco is great

Alex Koder

*Raptor Noises and pounces on Ferret*

Liam Gradwell

Hey. You can’t have Disney without some residual psychological trauma, am I right? 😱

Stephen Mumford

If there's one thing I've noticed about reactors, it's that when they pause the show to talk about something, they should always rewind five seconds before continuing again. Reactors missing something notable because they paused at juuuuust the wrong moment is far more common than I would have thought!

Syllephia

We're getting closer to the really lore heavy stuff. Like Launchpad's time as a brilliant, British secret agent. The discovery that Magica is the reason Donald can't talk intelligibly, thus preventing his singing career from taking flight (pun intended). And the flashback to Scrooge's "lost weekend" where he really embraced the bachelor life. Of course nothing comes close to the reveal that the triplets are actually clones of Scrooge. Or that Beakly went rogue from S.H.U.S.H due to their complicity in the death of her daughter and son in law, thus orphaning Webbigail. Before we can get to *any* of that though, we have to get through The Last Crash of the Sunchaser! An episode that, in spite of its cool name is pure filler. I think it was a concessions on the part of the writers; Disney execs demanded a fluff piece after the whole traumatic "Lena/Webby" stuff in this episode.

Void Weaver

You missed Webby's newest nickname for Lena "You Snoring Angel"

Animegirl

Just a random weird idea, probably not true but funny if it was, what if Lena is actually the Mom & was cursed by Aunt Magica?

King

Magica is pretty much the ShadowWeaver of DuckTales

Corey Peters

Fun fact the look of doll Webby is based on her appearance in the original series

Chris P3

"The Life And Times Of Scrooge McDuck" was a graphic novel by Don Rosa, building on the comics that came before while also delving into Scrooge's origins.

Tyrant-Den

Pretty sure "clever girl" is just a Jurassic Park reference.

Joey Quixote

Looking at the Trello, I see you've completed the first season! I'm so glad you gave this show a shot and even happier that you're loving it! The Lore-acoaster begins here! I love the fact that when Lena is shown her worst nightmare the whole focus is not so much on Magica escaping, as it is on bad things happening to Webby. It was just a job, but Lena made a real connection with Webby. And Webby with her. Given the severity of the main plot, the B plot feels wildly out of place. But Louie's "I win." will forever be one of my favorite lines.

SweetCandle

Not pony tales or cotton tales, no. Duck Tales! And Steven!

Someday Sera

I wonder if that's the point, that the A plot was so dark they wanted something goofy to balance it out. It's certainly notable that I had ZERO memory of the gavin plot, because the leena/webby plot had burned itself into my brain.

Luke Teasdale

that album is based on the original don rosa scrooge mcduck comics not the show but I agree the entire album is awesome.

Luke Teasdale

doods I forgot how fantastically hateable Catherine Tate as Magica Despell is in this episode. we are in the s1 endgame now and I cannot wait for the next episodes

Alan Munro

Word of warning, when you get to The Last Crash of the Sunchaser! you'll need Hamish on standby. It's very emotional.

Tim Ryan

Too old for this?? You're a wee bairn ;) You've got plenty of years left to be traumatized by shows.. :)

Emmy A.

Just a normal episode, totally not emotionally scarring in anyway.

Nuk Limpear

You paused and missed Webby confirming Scrooge's birth year as 1867 btw :)
