Andrew Pineda

That is one hell of a thumbnail choice 😆 love it

Sanmei

Wiggles and giggles! It's so good to see unfiltered enjoyment of a series after how angsty She-Ra was. XD

Caelum Aster

AGHH the excitement i get when you post one of these!! your reactions got me back into SU and now i'm drawing my gemsonas again lol

David Johnson

Everyone remembers their first poofing...

PinkPonytail _Girl

This is such a good ep. Alas early season one Steven Universe we just get sprinkled in lore eps, but in my opinion once you get to monster buddies it really starts to pick up and gives you a lot more lore.

Sanmei

Never mind, there was a whole lot of NOT OKAY as it turns out. :)

Panic Blitz

Legend of Onion: Echoes of G.U.Y.S.

Stephen Mumford

We ALL have a lot of questions about Onion, Mosco. We ALL have many, many questions.

peachy af

notice pearl's bow isn't the only thing that changed from her old design :)

Corvo Joka

Not a Gen-Z thing.😅 Onion is just chaos🤷🏾‍♀️.

Tristan Haller

There is no 'why'. There is only Onion.

Annieme

Onion is just… an enigma

xattygt

With out spoiling a good portion of season 1 episodes is centered around Lear j g about somthing the gems can do

Alex S F

Pearl spent two weeks in Create a Sim

Matrim

“Was that a reference to Final Fantasy?” Sort of. Rebecca Sugar’s husband (who also works on the show) use to write a webcomic called RPG World, which was a loose parody of JRPGs in general, Final Fantasy in specific, and FF7 in particular. That little dude who looks like Cloud from FF7 is the main character, Hero.

Someday Sera

likewise, the rest of the pile is a real weird looking sonic, pikachu with a moogle pom on his head, and the guitar guy is, I think, a reference to gitaroo man. The screen where steven is naming the guys in onion trade is also an nes mega man stage select screen (complete with his eyes moving to look at the selected stage/guy and 8 bit music) and of course the console in stevens room is alternately an n64 and a gamecube. I also noticed a bottle of lon lon milk from zelda on the counter in a later episode I was watching today.

SGM

Such a good episode and you can see the Utena references for Pearl. Which I didn't really notice till this episode came out and I love that show lol

🍄autisticshroom🍄

Onion is just like that, best advice is probably just to not question Onion XDD

Willow Arkan

I am sure that's not going become emotionally fraught.

Link Chowschne

Onions always make you cry! lol. Love these reactions. When Pearl got stabbed you looked so horrified, which is a very correct response! Thankfully it takes a little more than that to end a gem, they are tough. And I am fully on board with the donut dates, sounds amazing. I'm pansexual and getting to see you react to my favorite show is the best treat ever, even better than a donut <3

PB

Onion is obviously a secret crystal gem.

Dinker

I've been waiting for this reaction too! Can't wait to see what you say when they try to reform Rose and make Steven messily poof.

Dinker

Also, we had Morgan complaining about Gen Alpha today and Mosco complaining about Gen Z as well. Fun times. Also Onion is easily the sixth most disturbing thing in Steven Universe. ... Okay, sixth most disturbing character at least.

Vartixs

Onion is the human? Embodiment of a great eldritch being that is slowly trying to corrupt the towns people against the gems.

Joey Quixote

Pearl got poofed! Steven got Trauma +1! It really is a horrific scene. The way Pearl immediately becomes disheveled. Trying not to panic as she comforts Steven. Further, the way Garnet and Amethyst react to the moment it happens. Onion is the embodiment of chaos. Best not to think too hard about it. The kid has layers (ha!). Each stranger than the last.

Liam Gradwell

Steven Universe: cute moments with sudden dark scenes that you just can’t process properly at the time. But hey, it’s got cute moments and that’s what matters right? 😅

Aeyamq

In episode 2 we learn that Rose Quartz gave up her physical form to give birth to Steven. In this episode we learn that when a gem's body is badly damaged, she releases her physical form and retreats to her gem to regenerate. With those two pieces of lore we can come up with the question "Is Steven's Mom inside his gem?"

Ríon

Me watching all the pieces start to slot together: Excellent. :3c Let's just say, you are NEVER asking too many questions... In fact... Maybe you're not asking enough...? >:3c The shows lore is so deep and awesome, keep questioning things. ;3 Again: the reason why most people find S1 hard is BECAUSE most people don't like Steven and find him annoying in S1.... So... It just warms my heart how much you ALREADY love him. He is the most precious bean. :')

Alp

I have no idea why, but for some reason.... 10 years on.... I STILL someimes think of Dave Guy and just laugh. also you've been truly introduced to Onion now. he is truly unknowable. Onion is the answer... and yet... he is the question as well.... perhaps someday you will understand him 😔🙏

Nuk Limpear

Fun fact, the toys Steven shows holo-Pearl in StSF are all references, starting from the left we have a mashup of Final Fantasy's Moogle and Pokemon's Pikachu, then a mashup of Gitaroo Man and Morrigan from Darkstalkers, then Gotta Go Fast (a badly drawn Sonic the Hedgehog that's been a meme for years now), and lastly, the Hero from RPG World, a webcomic by Rebecca Sugar's husband Ian JQ (and an homage to Claud Strife form Final Fantasy VII).

Verdigree

There isn't like any cultural context you're missing behind Onion's actions, he just happens to be a bit of a menace

Glacier (Rían)

scruge mcduck actually existed before ducktails just fyi :]

DrDewott

Onion is just an agent of chaos. At least at this point in time where we don't know his alterior motives. Regardless you won't get the answers until Season 4.
