Definitely have heard the MHA comparisons before! To give you an idea of ages they're the equivalent of college freshman. So 17/18 except for Ruby who is 15 (I'm not gonna list out all their birthdays lmao) but lots of RWBY newbies assume high school. Signal Academy where Ruby was is "high school" Super interesting thoughts so far! Can't wait to see what other theories you come up with! (Also idk if you caught it when the newscaster was talking about the White Fang but she called it a "faunus rights protest" which is what the animal/human hybrids are called)

Huh, you're probably the first reactor I've seen who actually paid attention to the animal people protest on the news. Also, it didn't click until both of you were on screen that you and Roman Torchwick (the guy robbing the store) almost have the same haircut, only mirror-flipped. Oh, and having you simp for Glynda Goodwitch could probably make up for how much Elijah simped over Cinder in her reactions. Also yes, you're right that Ruby and Weiss are based on Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White respectfully (in fact, try translating 'Snow White' into German and see what you get), Blake's is a bit hard to get compared to the others, but there are small hints here and there, and Yang's could also be worked out from her trailer, and is a bit easier. You're also right that Glynda Goodwitch is based on Glinda the Good Witch from Wicked and the Wizard of Oz...so what was the name of the guy she worked for again?

Fun Fact: Jen Taylor was hired for an hour of work to record that opening monologue (Rooster Teeth was founded by passionate HALO fans, so getting the voice of Cortana was a *huge* deal.) So Taylor comes in, and nails the entire monologue in ONE TAKE, forcing the directors to make up fake notes and suggestions on the spot in order to fill up the rest of the time.

As i'm sure people will et you know more as the show goes on nearly EVERYONES name is based on some type of fairy tale or has some interesting fact about it. As you caught with Glenda Goodwitch she is a refrence to the same character to the wizard of OZ. along with headmaster Ozpin being the a reference in name to the wizard himself Yangs fairy tale root is brought up somewhat briefly in her trailer where the guy at the bar calls her "Goldie" as shes based on goldilocks. Blake is based on Belle from Beauty and the Beast which is why she had the candelabra at the end of episode 3. I believe the book shes reading is also supposed to be a subtle reference to the beast as he could be seen as a man with 2 souls. And lastly for this episode Jean Arc is based on Joan of Arc a famous french saint who cross dressed as a soldier to help during the 100 year war

So glad you’re liking it so far! Been a supporter of RWBY when the Red trailer came out after season 10 of Red vs Blue, and I always love seeing people getting hooked. So for clarification, Beacon and the other Huntsmen and Huntresses academies are effectively college for people wanting to fight monsters and be defenders of humanity. Thanks for picking up this show to react to and I’m glad that you weren’t put off by the endearingly wonky animation of Vol. 1 when the crew (and budget) was still tiny. For your intro I like the sound of “Guns & Roses,” but new viewers might mistake this for an 80’s American rock appreciation channel. Also the moment Torchwick sauntered on screen next to you I legitimately gasped when I realized you’re just a bowler hat away from looking like a RWBY villain.

Even before she appear on the screen, I alreday know how Mosco would react to Glynda lol (but understandable). There is a lot of hot character that will be fun to see Mosco react too in RWBY. Also, she didn't point out, except for the red hair girl behind Jaune, but there is a lot of "not so subtle" directing in RWBY, just like when the male voice talk about an honest soul and the camera is on Ruby at the start of the first episode. Even if those ones aren't really subtle, they progress in futur chapters and are the little touch that show the love behind imo.

Every character in RWBY has some kind of allusion to a character from a story, although some are more obvious than others. With Yang, not spoiling anything, but she's a blonde who walks into someone else's home, trashes it, and in particular encounters a guy named Junior and a guy in a bear mask. Also, the crime family they work for are called the Xiongs, which is Chinese for "bear".

I was thinking of for an intro we do a team name like RWBY Making up the letters of BWLR for Bi Wee Lass Reacts the only word I found that sounds cool was Brawler like Team BWLR (the r for reacts is the second r in Brawler). I tried finding something with Mosco Wee Lass Reacts Hamish or just MWLR but nothing popped up that works. Okay Update I did find a word for HWLR or Hamis Wee Lass Reacts there is also Team Howler. Not my fave but sounds cool.

Also, the Faunus are basically human but with a single animal trait (e.g. bear ears or some set of horns, like you saw in the news footage). So no, Cinder doesn't have cat *ears* — she has a tiger tail she keeps tucked under that dress

I think she's meant to be both witches, in fact: the unnamed Good Witch of the North supposedly gave off lots of "kindly schoolteacher" vibes, while Glinda the Good Witch of the South was young and blonde. This Glinda basically combines those traits

I'm the only redhead in the extended family for the past three generations. The one thing that I never got about the talk about Juan's shield was that even thou it would weigh the same the smaller size when collapsed would be a lot easier to carry around, and I would think Ruby would know that based on her own weapon's compact mode.

Oh, this should be fun. I love how your show predictions tend to either be 100% spot on, or 100% wildly off. Very little middle ground with Mosco! Also, seeing the upcoming waifu wars of Mosco having to compete with Cinder and Elijah having to compete with Glynda should be amusing as well. I think I know what Halloween costumes each of you two might wear this year.

i think its just how size wise it'd be easier but weight wise theirs no difference and with it being a sword and shield ruby possibly doesnt get the "why" of a sword and shield supposedly needing a compact mode vs something bigger

Oh man I’m so hyped, I've been waiting 84 years for this moment. Oh my god your reaction to Glynda was so freakin good! You have no right to tease Elijah about Cinder now, friend! As you probably know by now whether from the comments or Elijah, each character is based on fairytales or myths or stories. The book Blake was reading was based off of Jekyll and Hyde. And just for the record, Weiss Blake and Yang are 17 and Ruby is 15. Something I've always liked about Jaune's weapon is that his shield doubles as the sheath. I think it’s really cute that Yang used to read to Ruby before bed. I'd also recommend after each Volume checking out the soundtracks. Lots of character stuff and foreshadowing. Not to mention the music for this show is kind of amazing. Casey and Jeff are geniuses. Glad you're enjoying it so far and can't wait to see more.

0:10 - There's a joke that goes something like "If they really want to find water on Mars, all they need to do is plant a Scottish flag and it'll start raining within an hour." 1:45 - I love that the Steven Universe intro is still "cats and cookies" even though Cookie Cat hasn't been relevant at all since episode one. 3:37 - I could be mistaken, but I THINK in the world of RWBY "hunter" is the gender-neutral term, with "huntsman" and "huntress" being the gendered terms. So "Hunters and Grimm" maybe? 15:00 - Blake is "Beauty and the Beast" and Yang is "Goldilocks", it'll come up later. The inspirations are fun references but they're not really spoilers for the most part, more of Easter eggs and something to look back at their character designs and go "Ohh, I get it." 20:00 - It's funny how Mosco's interested in Glynda, since Elijah was into Cinder. 26:17 - I maintain to this day that this is one of the best jokes in the entire series. 42:50 - I think there are only a handful of weapons in the entire series that violate the "It's also a gun" rule. Fun fact: when asked by a fan at the RTX 2013 RWBY Panel if there were going to be any weapons that would not double as a gun, Kerry Shawcross asked why they would want that, and then the panel continued on to state that they should actually create a "Gun-Gun".

For Blake and Yang's fairy tale inspiration (though I'm sure you've been told by now) I'll say for Blake, hers is attached to who she was with, though more parallels will emerge in the series. Yang's is part of her look and who she was talking too, hint, Junior is his nickname and his real name translates to bear. "Oh hi! Hi! ... ohhh." So... did we find your 'type' for the show? :p As for Ruby and Yang's familial resemblance, or lack there of, let's just say that Ruby strongly takes after her mother, and Yang strongly takes after her father. ;) Yeah, first season was fun, you always knew who was important because they were the only ones with any details. :D As aside from everything, there is also a vignette series called World of Remnant what has background info on the world, lore and cultures. Note that there are semi-spoilers and/or the WoR is about something that the last episode touched on. (Like the Huntsmen Academies) There have been issues with reactors putting it on YT so either watch it offline or make it Patreon exclusive.

Two of each: good witches of the north and south, and wicked witches of the east and west. (The Wicked Witch of the East was the one Dorothy dropped a house on when she arrived in Oz.) The Good Witch of the South tends to get written out of adaptations, as Dorothy only seeks her out after the Wizard proves to be of no help, and most film & stage versions don't want to keep going much after that.

I’ve never had a reactor really care if we tell them or not before so I didn’t really see the harm since none are really considered a spoiler. I’ve removed the part of the comment though and will refrain from saying anything until she’s spent more time with the characters.

If nothing else, I love that you find the humor funny. It has great timing for jokes and slapstick humor. And honestly, it's one of the few shows that get an actual verbal laugh from me. Even as the story takes twists and turns, dips and rises, the humor is solid throughout. Also, can't wait to see that stupid but smart mind at work to find the hints, clues, and subtext in the show. It really pays off to think on what and how the show says and does stuff. Excited for the reactions!

Do note that all of the animations for the 4 trailers, Volume 1, and most of Volume 2, were done by 1 person: Monty Oum. Who sadly passed during Volume 3's production. Also the vocalist, Casey Lee Williams, was only 15 when she recorded for the 4 trailers. She has song the score fir the entire show. And her father, Jeff, was the person who wrote the music for most through Volume 8. With Casey taking over for Volume9

Kinda. Shane Newvile also helped in the animations for Volume 1 and 2. Plus Ein Lee is responsible for the original character designs for RWBY and Patrick Rodriguez was responsible for the Matt Paintings and concept art for Volume 1. Casey was 14 for when she recorded Red Like Roses for the Red Trailer and when RWBY Volume 1 aired in July of 2013, although she would turn 15 shortly after Volume 1 finished airing in November of 2013. Prior to this she also was on the Soundtrack for Red vs Blue Seasons 9-10 in 2011-2012 alongside her family.

I've been watching your YouTube for a while. This is my first Patreon video (I didn't want to wait anymore for RWBY) and you immediately telling the sun to go away caught me off guard. Going forward in the show, almost everyone is based off of a reference. Some after fairytales, or historical etc. Some people are made to compliment a character with a reference, for example, instead of having a reference they are essentially an OC and are made to be a sibling/parent/relation to a character with a reference. They're usually used as Easter eggs and only some of them have an impact to the story. Also, the song Rwby is listening to in the first scene is the Volume 1 intro. The soundtrack is so awesome and if you are able to catch lyrics, they often tell of a characters inner thoughts/history.
