I sometimes forget how much I like the background music in this show ✨

Yeah, growing up, fairies were cutesie little harmless creatures. Then I started learning real European, Celtic, and Scandinavian folklore. The Fey are not to be trifled with. I think part of what I love about Hilda and Johanna's relationship is how well depicted Johanna's protectiveness is in scenes like this. I've seen a lot of shows where the parent frets over their child, and so many fall short. The urgency in this episode just feels... real. Johanna scrambling out of the house to find her daughter and that relieved "I'm never letting you go" hug when she pulled her from the mound. During the campfire scene, Frida gave David a look. I was never quite sure how to interpret that. That she found the action charming, or that she found him charming.

I feel you !! I listen to the soundtrack all the time on Spotify 🥰❤️

To be fair, if they flat out told Hilda about the mound and fairies...she probably would have been checking it out on the first day, not the third...

Herc the Human

I understand the disappointment with Hilda not owning up to disturbing the aunt's protection spell, but anything aside from Hilda could have easily ruined that spell like animals and other kids. Astrid should have been more upfront about that because that is so dangerous realistically.

Herc the Human

I relate to how irritatingly reckless the characters are this episode. Like how suddenly they forget that Hilda is adventurous and just so eager to find out about things so being upfront should be the right thing to do. But this really is just to move the plot along and for the story to hit certain circumstances.

Fairies, all mythologies and folklore have them, but no one can agree on what they're like. They look like tiny humans. They resemble bugs. They reward good children. They steal children. They fly. They don't fly.

They say that long ago, a man wrote a book on fairies, and shortly after his death, one of his relations had a dream. The man claimed to be calling from the land of the fairies, where he was being held prisoner for telling too many secrets. The man gave his relation instructions to free him, but they were never followed, and he remains trapped in fairy land to this day.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (writer of Sherlock Holmes) was a big believer in fairies.
