Yeah the end credit scene was from an idea Monty had but he passed away before he could explain what the end goal for it was. So they kind of turned it into a dream sequence. Because you asked, Yang's birth mother left right after she was born, and Summer (Ruby's mom and Yang's REAL MOM) according to Yang "left for a mission and never came back" when Yang was like...five or six? Ep 1: I love that you can see the visual improvements with each volume. One of my favorite things about this show. Ruby’s opening monologue really feels like the crew kind of talking to Monty to me, even ending with the birds flying into the sun which mimics Monty’s signature. Port called it the Vytal Festival Tournament. The humor in the episode really is spectacular. This is one of my favorite premieres because of it. - “My BFF!” “No.” “…Yes!” - Blake trying to be sneaky and get away with her meal before Shopkeep just takes it away. Seriously, just watch Blake that entire sequence, it’s great. Mercury and Ren get their new VAs this volume. Now they are voiced by Yuri Lowenthal and Neath Oum (Monty’s brother). “Ren and I have no parents, so we have no home left to go to.” Way to just drop that juicy backstory tidbit, Nora. Good grief. And my least favorite opening. Still a great song, just not to my taste. Ep 2: I don’t really have much to say about this episode. I like finding out what Nora’s semblance is but the rest of it is just fights that I have mixed feelings on. The irony of Neptune being afraid of water.

Hope this is not inappropriate, but could you share the name/model of that "drone" you use to communicate with your GF? My brother in law is often away for work and I think he and my sister might enjoy something similar and I'd like to look into it. Having the model of something that seems to work well would be a good starting point. Thank you for your work

Nah, that's not Yang's mother. That's her daughter from the future. It's complicated. And Elijah wants you to rush through the volume so she can see your reaction when it's revealed that Cinder and Glinda are exes. I had wanted to suggest "Hey there, heiresses and bimbos!" for your opening but it was a bit of a spoiler... Get someone who looks at you the same way Blake looks at the bowl of fish. These fights are fun. A nice way to show the team dynamics. I like how Mosco didn't even blink at Cinder's combat outfit. Elijah's reaction was more ... vivid. I hope some day you two can do a collab reaction to Elijah's reactions to Cinder. It will be priceless... The "I don't trust it!" counter went up several times this episode. Elijah: "Let me out!" (five seconds later) "Let me in!" She really is a cat...

Unfortunately, that season ending scene was meant to be canon, but the creator of the show sadly passed away before he could tell the rest of the writers what his intention was for this storyline and character, so they retconned it to essentially be a dream sequence and made their own plans for the future seasons

He doesn't have Ruby's eyes tho, I'll say that much. So happy to see you entering V3! :) We're opening with the Vytal Festival Tournament, which we were teased about in earlier volumes. Interesting that you thought Jaune called Nora "Thor" when that's exactly who she's based on, in regards to powers and weapon; Thor once had to disguise himself as a woman to retrieve his stolen hammer if I recall correctly. Hope you'll feel better soon! Get a lot of rest and don't stress about reactions.

I'm sure it's a coincidence that Nora Valkyrie, whose emblem is a hammer struck by lightning, appears to be based on Thor; she's actually based on Dora the Explorer.

Yes, she absolutely blushed there and when Blake first laid eyes on Sun she had a stereotypical love at first sight moment with a choir singing as he winked at her. But it's just shipping and not that important.. as long as Ruby and Weiss end up together it doesn't matter who else does....umm...well Ren and Nora too...maybe Weiss and Juane if she doesn't fall for Ruby...I mean Yang did say "one day" to Juane when Weiss turned him down after class last volume...yeah, so like I said.. shipping doesn't matter

Ruby talking to her mother's grave was written in a way that it was like Ruby talking to the creator's grave because he passed away between season 2 and 3. The creator voiced Ren and now his brother voices him.

Something of note, after Ruby left Summer's grave, the camera shot of the sun with the birds in front of it was Monty's symbol. The CRWBY put lots of call-outs to him this Volume as he died near the beginning of that year. Vytal (pronounce 'vital'), not Final. :p You know, I'm getting the faint impression you don't trust Cinder, Emerald and Mercury? Can't put my finger on why you feel that way though, you're really subtle on your distrust of them. :p Fun fact! Team NDGO (Indigo) was made from fan OC submission from the top donators from an Indi-Go-Go crowd fundraiser. But hey! Volume 3 kick off! We get introduced to the wider world and their penguin overlords!

Yang being used as a human wrecking ball was hilarious. Also, when Ruby was talking to her mother's grace, she was talking to Monty Olm's grave too, as he passed between these volumes. The note had his symbol on it. RIP.

I remember in the commentaries, they were laughing to themselves about how Ruby's dad in the opening scene is just a 2D cardboard cutout, because they didn't have a 3D model ready for him yet, hehe. Also, if I'm recalling the story correctly, this episode was revealed at one of the RTX Rooster Teeth conventions, and like the next day a crew of four expert cosplayers showed up dressed as team Indigo, the all girl team that Sun's team (SSSN) fights. Apparently they stayed up all night making the costumes because they loved the team's designs.

not sure if youll see this but the reason neptune is afraid of water is because his semblance is water attraction and when he was a kid, he didnt have proper control of it and trapped himself and his brother in a water bubble, almost drowning them, its a fear stemming from that childhood trauma so now he avoids water so that he wont hurt other people.
