incidentally, the actual way Zeus got with Heracles's mother, who was also like his double granddaughter or something, was by pretending to be her husband. Heracles is Zeus's favorite, because he's 75% Zeus.

In regards to how Scrooge was portrayed in this episode, I think it had less to do with bad writing, and more with highlighting an existing character flaw. Sometimes Scrooge can be so focused on his goals that he gets tunnel-vision to everything around him, and doesn’t always realise how his actions unintentionally effect others.

I remember learning at a young age Hercules’ (great?) grandfather was Perseus, and found out years later that Perseus was also the son of Zeus.

I think it's also important to note that he'd wanted that most of his life and it slipped out of his fingers. So close. I think heartache consumed him in that moment and he needed a reality check. He has lived a long life and wanted it for much of that life, and the kids are kids, he might have seen that a bit more clearly in that moment, and wasn't as capable mentally and emotionally of looking past it as he usually is.
