The Violet Bee

SU Future is probably my favorite individual season of television ever.

Taigan

Is there a reason there was no Ducktales this week? Sorry if this was announced elsewhere.

Some Simp

I can't lie i dont like how spinel is written in this series, they kinda flanderize her, yeah she was jokey and over the top and seeing her go back to being bubbly and happy is nice but....she feels like shes high in the show and doesn't take anything seriously, when in the movie she clearly can get serious . especially when alot of the things steven is going through is stuff she went through too just a bit of missed potential in my opinion

morthasa

"Watch me realise I forgot something in the next two seconds!" [Two seconds later] *Forgets she has a toe filled to the brim with pain receptors* (Also lovely hoodie!)

Orion Armstrong

The scene with Blue Diamond reminds me VERY much of a scene from an old 70's anime version of Jack and the Beanstalk, called Jack to mama no ki, and I've wondered since I saw this if this was inspired by that.

Havoc 13

I think white diamonds new ability is mostly for her own growth. She's using it to try and understand and empathize with those around her. She isolated herself for millenia, and she's on a path to try and understand her people and their needs in order to be a better leader. Spinel was obviously gonna do some goofy stuff though so it was a bad example to be fair

Pepsi

As for the gems showing up in the house, Steven took time to help clean up his mess at the baseball field. They waited for him there

Martin E Melcher

The weird transition at the 38:18 mark was meant to show the sun setting and a passage of time, but I dont think they did it well and it ended up being very confusing overall

Christopher Herrera

While I agree that it doesn’t show it well but the sky looks different between scenes so time has past and the first time the gems moved they 1) took Steven’s word when he said he was fine and 2) they probably took the warp pad

Laiel Shepherd

Think there were just some poorly communicated time skips in Ep. 18 showing Steven throughout the day. Like he arrived home in the early evening after starting to pick up the bits of building he wrecked in bright daylight.

Link Chowschne

This is a season of air slowly being sucked out of the room. The final 2 episodes are some great resolution IMO.

bookinit

Please please please watch EPIC!!! Its my absolute favorite😁

voyager-ngc5195

Since you're creating your own animated show, it might be a decent idea to study why certain production decisions were made for Steven Universe and especially Future. There's a lot of general reasons, like how most of the episodes had different storyboarders and how they had to fill time for a 20-episode order from CNW when half that would have likely sufficed. It's a bit different for indie projects I'm sure; like you probably only have a few main writers fleshing out the whole story. It'd be interesting to see your creative process at some point!

38:51 theres time skip between the scenes, like hours.. steven probably destroyed more stuff before he teleported back

Vilmu

Bring out the tiger! 🎵

Chevy

I think this is my favorite reaction I’ve seen of yours and probably of anyone whose reacted to Steven universe future. Your understanding of Steven’s emotions and knowledge on how to handle it was so insightful. I don’t know if I’ve seen another person react to this and have such an understanding of Steven’s problems, most are just shocked and confused.

Chevy

I agree for sure, for narcissists the best case scenario is they learn how to let other peoples perspectives in and not just reflexively try to enforce their perspective over others. I think whites new powers and old are playing off that.

LikeCat

The episode 17 title is „Homeworld Bound" ☺️

Geass

38:18 Given the clouds are now larger and darker, I suspect some time has passed between the plant Stevens picking everything up and Steven warping into the temple.

Thomas

Yes please pick up epic, I've said it before you won't regret it 😂 great reaction

Cullen

I do think this season is something that is best appreciated after finishing it. You really understand that the core concept is Steven's own mental health journey and adjustment post saving the universe. Every other character is a bit side lined as kind of guest stars alongside Steven's journey so we can have a bit of closure or tie up some loose ends with them. I can get how going through it slowly week by week can be a bit confusing since there's not a lot of continuity or obvious overarching plot especially at the beginning.

DrDewott

Yeah. The whole weather is different too, new establishing shot and everything. The earlier case was a bit muddy but here you have a defintive transition telling you that quite a while has passed.

Mal.aise

There wasn’t any confusion with the gem’s locations in the script, it’s just that throughout the episode the day is passing, and the timeskips aren’t made super obvious. But you can see, between Steven ruining the baseball game and walking away and him warping back in, that it’s gotten noticeably darker outside since the last scene, implying there was a timeskip there. There’s a couple small skips in this episode, and while I agree it may be a bit confusing, it was intentional afaik

Natalie DeMerit

You should consider Over the Garden Wall. It's a lovely, very short, fall cartoon. It's 10, 11 minute episodes and is one of the best cartoon Networks ever done

Void Fairy

I think there's implied time jumps between scenes. I never assumed they were changing scene immediately but that some time has passed. Steven says "I'll see you there" to garnet, amythest and pearl before he leaves. Then he goes to peridot for a while. When he's done there, they've also already warped in. When it shows him going back home, it shows its evening time outside. I think we're expected to know he spent the day rebuilding that building, and at some point the gems went off to collect Connie and Greg for an intervention and were waiting for him when he finished. They just aren't doing as much hand holding, maybe they felt they didn't have time for it with it being such a short only 1 season show.

Marcy Wu

I'm not going to be surprised if we see her in the same outfit for the next episodes considering Everything's Fine ended on a cliffhanger. Because even if we have to wait a week for the upload she doesn't have to wait a week to watch the episodes. The beauty of recording in advance lol.

Spicy Girl

The thing is, people say "reach out for help." But they don't mean it. People 9 times out of 10 don't want to hear your problems, they want you to say, "You're doing great." Saying reach out for help is the equivalent of asking someone how their day is, the person doesn't care it's just basic pleasantries. So, you fake a smile and you get through your day as to not bring anyone else down nor burden with your personal issues.

Emily Grossmann

Perfect time for Over the Garden Wall! It's only 10 episodes and is fall themed!

AbsurdToastling

White Diamond's new power actually is pretty helpful... but you have to be at the right place in your journey for it to work. Being able to talk to yourself in such a literal way, especially if you are conflicted and White can express those contradictory thoughts in a conversational manner so you can literally speak with yourself? That's very useful. I feel like that, combined with how she grew up in her room on Homeworld with the Pebbles, is the sort of thing Rose was trying to accomplish in making her room the way it is. Manifesting her thoughts and how she sees others, or even herself. But Steven wasn't at that stage, so White's power made everything worse, along with seeing himself as *the* Diamond.

xman t

The gems went home while steven was "helping." We see steven carrying stuff off and amethyst just stays there. It's pretty likely after he left, they just went to the house to talk and discuss his situation

Symbolic Remnant

I can’t I Can’t I CAN’T I CAN’T Steven Universe FEEAR, here we are! (FEEEAARAUGHAGHABOO!)

Symbolic Remnant

“Is she the therapy?” Nah… she’s the weed

Phoenix_mercury

Yeah, what they really mean is "reach out for help if it's something easy and doesn't actually require effort", fair weather friends...

detective potato

Blue can give you relief with hee ability even if it's temporary. Sometimes we all need just a moment of joy or calm to think things over. Whites new ability is surprisingly useful. Her ability allows you to speak through her to know what you need or what you might be trying to tell yourself. But yellows is definitely very useful especially for the cluster. Yes it will take her a long time to complete but she's immortal so time in a way means nothing to her.

KotetsuFour

"Watch me realize I've forgotten something in like two seconds". 0:12, LITERALLY two seconds later, "Oh! Forgot how loud that was"

peachy af

yeah. the scene changes never felt weird to me, i'm a little surprised they jumped out to her this much lol

OziasEvren

Timeskips are happening but they're not being shown well 😅

Dani

She already reacted to it ;)

Dani

She already reacted to it ;)

Chance

Hey, Moscow, I just wanted to give you a heads up that when you start ML p French is Magic. There's a territory there. That's don't get dead on your nerves.Just thought I'd tip your heads up

Matrim

There is time between the scenes, they’re just not communicated well, a combination of the short run time and the animation team not giving us more visual cues. Steven finished cleaning up the building he wrecked before going home, so that’s how the trio were able to prep the intervention before he got there.

Matrim

Here we are in FEAR and it’s AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Samuel Wilson

Could you do a patreon exclusive where you review Zack Calisons music? His real life vibe is so different from Steven's and it was definitely shocking to hear him and Connie's Va singing outside of Steven Universe!

Pan Boi

Future really, really helped me deal with my intrusive thoughts and trauma. I always hid away my worst moments and lied to everyone who wanted to help because I was scared they didn't actually want to help, just like Steven here. I had, and still have if I'm honest, really horrible intrusive thoughts similar to the ones Steven is having, and seeing a character have them is so... Nice? It's horrible, of course, but it makes me feel so seen. My entire life, I have been scared of acting on these thoughts and scared that just having them makes me a monster, because who in their right mind thinks about these things? But I'm not a monster. It's not my choice to have these thoughts. I may lash out or hide my feelings, but that doesn't make me a horrible person. And realizing this was one of my first steps of recovery. I'm still working on it, of course, but I'm getting better and I'm trying. I know these thoughts aren't things I actually want. Opening up is so, so hard, and I hated hearing it, but it does help to just... Reach out. It's not as easy like some people try to make it seem, that mental barrier is a bitch to get past, but it's so worth it with safe people in your life. Intrusive thoughts aren't my real thoughts. Being uncomfortable by these intrusive thoughts is a sign that you are not a horrible person like you may think you are. Bad people don't feel uncomfortable or bad about these thoughts. I always try to keep that in mind, and Future really helps me remember it. I'm so glad they wrote Steven's trauma so well and so realistic. It's so nice to see, I'd say it's close to Catra on realistic depictions of how trauma can make a person spiral into a version of themself that lashes out to keep themself safe. To roughly quote one of my favorite video essays on Catra; trauma isn't always a meek, shy victim- sometimes, it's ugly, scary, and horrible. But still deserving of love and support.

iKirbeeburgr

at least when he goes home after destroying the house you can see its a different time of day by the sky.

Waistband Hiker

*The man bursts into tears “But doctor, I AM pagliacci the clown”*

Waistband Hiker

Steven said before dashing that he was going to Home school, so they likely went ahead and warped over there and got busy

CosmicTransmtation

the ending scene of that episode is extremely triggering for me.

T. rex

Very well put. These stories deserve to be told

Wilhelm Hedin

Looking forward to Adventure Time!

Squat

The reason Garnet Pearl and Amethyst were in different places was because there were implied timeskips between certain scenes.

Kass

Blue Diamond is my favorite drug dealer.

Kieran Hunter

I wish we had a Steven IRL to talk some sense into the government/billionaires

Tyrant-Den

Yellow: Reconstructive cosmetic surgery Blue: Weed White: Gimmick therapy

Weylin Greenmoor

"I remember bits and pieces." Her name is Jasper, thank you very much.

Lexa

Steven was trying to rebuilt what he broke in that scene, there’s a cut before he warps back to his place and the gems are there so some time has passed.

pieflower

Maybe strangers/acquaintances don't mean it, but in Steven's case, these are his real family and friends and they genuinely are open to helping him through his issues. Don't be so quick to assume that your friends and family aren't there to support you because keeping it all inside isn't healthy. But if you don't have anyone like that, then I hope you'll meet someone soon. Everyone can be loved. ❤️

HaremOfKurusu

The confusion you are feeling is due to the fact that there are two short time skips in "Everything's Fine". They just aren't that good at communicating those time skips. It's meant to convey that there was enough time between when Steven went to little home world and when we saw the gems that they had time to get there with the warp. He already said he was going there so they knew where he was and decided not to chase him down to give him some space. The second time skip is of course after he deals all that damage at little home world. While he is doing whatever he was doing to fix some of the damage, the Gems, Connie and Greg were gathering to hold an intervention of sorts.
