Many this to say about these episodes. 1) in the original books, the Wizard of Oz’s real name is Oscar Diggs. 2) when I first watched the episode with Weiss’s dad, I was like “Bitch, you really think you can stop her if she wants to leave? This girl regularly cuts through *armies* of Grimm. Who you got?! Huh?! WHO YOU GOT?!?!? 3) I don’t know if I ship Blake and Sun, but I love her mother shipping them. 😆

Episode 7: I like that Tyrian's eyes turn purple when he's gonna poison someone. "What's your favorite fairytale?" Same thing Oz asked Pyrrha before he gave her the downlow on all the Maiden business. Episode 8: I will give props to Arryn Zech, Blake's VA, for her performance this episode. Her talk with Ghira is one of the highlights of V4 for me…. until it was cut short. Ghira is just a big ol' teddy bear! AH!

I really like the comparison they made between fathers in these two episodes; Ghira and Jacques. Despite not seeing Blake for a long time, Ghira is still warm and understanding, communicative but listens intently. Jacques is completely cold and controlling, only seeing another pawn in Weiss.

In terms of leitmotifs from this show I particularly adore the musical theme that is associated with the relics. You can hear it specifically when Qrow mentions each of their attributes. It has a very ancient mystical vibe.

Yay, more rwby! You guessed it, Oscar is 14. And ah yes, Jacques. Totally dad of the year. Ugh. He needs a swift punch in the face. I don't know if this is safe to say, but...yeah, no, Ozpin is not a Maiden lol Ghira is the best dad. I love this father-daughter moment they had...if only Sun hadn't interrupted it. Or eavesdropped on a very private conversation to begin with. The slapping may have been a miscommunication, but Sun definitely deserved it. Interruption is one thing, but actively listening in on a very private moment and then trying to brush it off? And refusing to listen and insisting on "listen to him"? Yeah, I would've slapped him too. At least four times. And people think this is proof of their "chemistry."

If anyone hasn’t put it together, Qrowe’s misfortune power is why he was telling Ruby to stay back while he was fighting the scorpion guy. As long as it was just one-on-one the bad luck would only hit the scorpion. But when Ruby joined in, it affected her. Moments after he warns her away, a piece of a building almost falls on her. He has to save her and that’s when he got stung.

Cool thing about Qrow, because you mentioned how his design is linked with Ruby's, is that his song, valled "Bad Luck Charm" has is a void progression that is the inverse of Ruby's theme, "Red Like Roses" and just for fun his weapon is banned Harbinger. Since we never get its name in the show

If you go back and watch old scenes with Qrow, you can see his bad luck having an effect. Even in his introduction, the bartender knocks over a glass which can be attributed to bad luck.

What if the 'poisoning' of Qrow isn't poison at all? Don't you think CRWBY might like to surprise you that Tyrian's semblance, along with with his faunus tail/stinger, is something more devastating? What if it renders your enemy purple? Or it destroys someone's aura? Or their semblance? Given Qrow's semblance, maybe that wouldn't be so bad for your favorite. (FYI I'm a Canadian Lesbian and Qrow would be on my 'freebies' list too, as would a character you'll meet in two chapters (chapters ten and twelve of volume four are the best chapters of RWBY.....and in ten, you'll meet someone else I predict you'll covet). Then again, maybe his semblance is even worse. Maybe Qrow's pregnant ;) While you relented on giving up RWBY if and when they kill Qrow, I have a ride or die for RWBY. Ren and/or Nora. They die and I'm *really* done.

Welcome to RWBY, where suffering is mandatory but at least the fight sequences are legendary! but seriously, you are now entering the lore phase of the show and I'm very eager to see how you handle all that is to be revealed. it's already quite promising... for example, DING DING DING! right on the money! about what? who knows! yes, fuck Jacquass. all the homies hate Jacquass. Belladonna family is truly the most wholesome family in show. it also makes Blake's backstory a bit more sad, finding out that she ran away from home because she was so young and too naive to realize that she was diving into the White Fang as it got more radicalized... or the dangers that Adam posed. speaking of which, remember the end of v1 when Blake was telling Sun about her involvement in the White Fang? "Five years ago, our leader stepped down..." < yes, that was her father who stepped down, and that's why she acted that way towards her parents, because she felt like they were abandoning the cause. can't say more for now but just good to keep in mind.

OH! I just remembered! you really need to watch the rest of the World of Remnant series! you got halfway through and there are still more to see. at this point in the story, there isn't anything that would "spoil" anything but the other videos are super informative about broader Remnant lore that is going to become very relevant down the road - or at least provides some great filler for the little gaps that the main show can't quite cover. for example, there are videos for each of the kingdoms, so you would get a decent idea about each region and why Qrow makes that remark about Vacuo.

Winter was the heiress to the SDC, but when she left to join the military Jacques disinherited her. Weiss, as the second oldest, therefore became the new heiress. Weiss is basically following in Winter's footsteps here.

When Yang learns that Weiss' father slapped her, she punches the fourth wall so hard she opens a portal back to that scene and she rips his head off... at which point we learn that he is not a man, he's a sentient, meglomaniacal hamster in a very realistic mech suit. Ghira: "It seems like your outfit doesn't cover very much." Blake: "Oh my gosh does 'every' father figure have the same three condescending phrases?" Love the detail that Ghira's office is basically a library. Explains Blake's love of books. He and Kali probably read books to her since the day she was born. ---- Mosco: "I'm not going to have any more favorite characters." (Ideally after a long round of public humiliation) One of the highlights of the volume, Qrow v. Tyrian, Still love that Birdbrain's moves. You're right about the eyes/poison. I've notice that are several examples of Aura-activated Faunas having Semblances related to their animal traits. Note, the BGM for the fight is Bad Luck Charm, the Qrow 'character theme'. An awesome song, but man is it painful. "If we loose Qrow..!" Yeah, it's almost like we now know that there is a chance important, named and developed characters are able to die in this series now. Thanks Cinder. /sarcastic "I'm a professional! ... Just don't ask what of!" Ah... Ghira and Kali, the best god damn parents in the series and serious contenders for best in all shows. Love both of them and their interactions with family and friends (and Sun).

Oz to Ruby when Weiss wanted to be team RWBY lider "I made more mistakes then any man, woman and child on this planet". Oz to Pyrhha "Can u belive this story was around when I was a little boy?" I would not be surprised if Ozpyn is the old wizard who gave the Maidens their powers. He has hinted before that he, or at least his soul, is ancient. “I have made more mistakes than every man, woman, and child”, or “would you believe me if I told you that was popular (ie., The Tale of the Four Maidens) when I was a child?”, and others. And if he built Haven, and as Qrow says later in the background of the Treasures,…Ozpyn established all four prime Hunter academies. Heck, I’d even wager he was the King of Vale the ended the Great War. And as Ozpyn implied,…there is little choice in the matter on who gets picked expect what Qrow would call “a stupid and convoluted set of rules”. And this is less a haunting and is going to develop into what would have happened with Pyrhha and Autumn,…the two souls are intertwined and soon it’s going to be Oscar with the combined knowledge and wisdom of all his predecessors. Think the Avatar or One For All,…just a lot less talking to past incarnations and more it now IS them. Once Winter chose to pursue a path with the Atlisian military, it could either or both Jacques or Ironwood that had Winter relinquish her position as heiress. Certainly from Ironwood’s perspective it would have been to avoid a conflict of interest. We got the first clue to Qrow’s Semblance in Vol. 3 when the bartender at the Crow Bar breaks a glass. Qrow is a bit hard on himself, as his Semblance seems more about probability manipulation. Why he can show up in the nick of time. Improbable parries. Missteps by opponents, like Tyrian falling through the roof. But it’s also not selective. Why Qrow wanted everyone clear of him as he fought, which we saw with Ruby nearly crunched. But preventing the bit of Fate resulted in a backlash on Qrow with Tyrian getting in that telling blow,…and that same Bad Luck to make Tyrian incautious and savor his luck so much that Ruby got in her own snipping (as opposed to sniping). Maybe the gang has some kind of Dust-enhanced travel gear that has a compression effect (which really seems necessary for many weapons and their magazines). My own question is “how’d y’all get color coordinated sleeping bags?”

So many reactors want to second-guess the "rule" that the inheritor of the Maiden powers has to be a young woman. While we have never heard of that rule being broken, nothing in this series has indicated or even hinted that this rule has or can be broken. Best assumption right now is that what's happening to Ozpin/Oscar is something else. As for Qrow being poisoned and your reaction, I was thinking you need to start declaring your love/adoration for Cinder and Tyrian just as you started doing so! 18 minutes later... Mosco: "I really, really, really like the Dad!" Me: "What are you doing!?!?!"
