Man, it’s so fascinating to see the changes because I genuinely have no idea where things will go from here

Suplee215

Glad the clarifying was helpful. After watching this episode I was a bit "o i shouldnt have said it" because they explain it directly this episode but the indirect clues were there already as well.

Suplee215

Youre right on Nott's name. shes making a self depreciating joke whenever she says "Nott the Brave, no comma", calling herself a coward.

KyleIronheart

I CANT SAY ANYTHING AHHHH, Also a lot of this stuff is new so dont base things on roles, so far much of this stuff didnt happen on the table this is all for the show. consider it for my like character traits and flaws

Suplee215

All I will say on Molly is his abilities are based on his class in dndnwhich isnt a normal class. Unsure if that will be a spoiler or not. As someoje who watched the campaign I am unsure what happened to the toad in terms of what was frozen. Lot of this is flavor of how to translate dnd spells and abilities into a show. Honestly amazing to see how they do that in this show and lovm.

Chet Bliese

Nothing evil about Fjord's sword. Nope. Nothing bad at all. Perfectly fine. What black lines coming out of his eyes?

Ryan

"Fucking doors!" PICK the lock, Mosco. You're supposed to PICK the lock.

Dana L Powers-Green

They reference particular particularly significant crit success and failures such as Fjords failure with the test your strength game last episode. The Fjords teleport uses a spell slot where as the disguise ability is Mask of Many Faces which is an at will ability. Fjords attack on the wall deals 1d10 force damage so it could have blown a hole in the wall or in this case just plinked it.

Christopher Malone

just stating it right now... I am biting my tongue so hard regarding spoilers... and Molly shows why he is our king... LONG MAY HE REIGN!

Christopher Malone

I am sure it has nothing to do with some ancient Eldritch evil being in the ocean, I mean, what kind of Lovecraft Bullshitery would that be, huh?

Zemajick

(long post but I think I avoided spoilers, if anyone is concerned please let me know) So in reference to what you said at 57:00, in the first episode, the Kryn Dynasty (where the beacon was stolen from) is not on another plane of existence, they are in a region called Xhorhas, on the eastern side of the continent of Wildemount, while the Dwendalian Empire is located in the central region of the continent. That 'break in reality' was more just them breaking a sort of magical barrier that the Kryn use to protect their cities. The main reason I am comfortable in saying this without worrying about spoilers is because of another scene in the first episode, where they show a map of the whole continent at the king's war council. Trent Ikithon conjures that purple mist to illustrate how the Kryn could spread from Xhorhas to overrun the empire (or at least that's what he wants to make the populace afraid of).

Geass

54:38 She's a halfing. That's the D&D equivalent of a hobbit, because they weren't allowed to use the name hobbit.

Vlee

When Molly says "I... Don't... Know!" with that cheeky little smug grin on his face, I think hes just being a gremlin cause Caleb told him he says that a lot a few lines earlier, just a little carnie bullshit, ya knowww?

LikeCat

He is a god afterall.

Thunder

Ocean Eldritch Being? What Ocean Eldritch Being? *I* don't know of any Ocean Eldritch Beings here. Do you? ;)

LikeCat

38:45 „Whats your past?" (Towards Molly) - 🤭

Alex Malix

Nott didn't lose a child. She's a Goblin, she lost a litter :D

LikeCat

That was some Sam level Vicious Mockery (disquesed as Hideaus Laughter) kind of damage... Fjuck

Alex Malix

Hey this is mighty nein, jester took all the good parts for her backstory and left all the tragedies for everyone else in the party

Rupert Anderson Jr

Essek is in too deep now. If he told the truth about where the beacon was, he will be executed for treason. and then his mother will eventually be executed for having typhros.

Edda

Yes! Came here to say this! It looked like a break in reality because their protective barrier also blocks out the sun so that there is always night over their capital. They “broke the night sky” and went back out into the daylight

Corvo Joka

I mean they're partially called halflings in The Lord of the Rings as well.

SWTobito

That's a very fascinating theory about Molly and the beacon, being reborn and not knowing about it. Would kind of align with the whole "I have memories that don't feel like mine". Guess we'll have to wait and see. And just fyi: Essek's species is called Drow (or more commonly Dark Elf). Famous for not liking the surface world because they are really sensitive to sunlight.

morthasa

Mosco proving her class is wizard by dieing of 1d4 hand clapping damage

NERD!

Going off the show I didn't take Caleb saying his magic was stolen as literal, but metaphorical. Caleb is still able to do magic after all.

NatMcK7

I second this, I don't know the actual campaign but that's what it sounds like.

cobaltbeau

molly has power over blood in general. His blood is generally needed to power his powerful magic, but he could also taste blood from the frog and figure out where it went.

Yoshinatorsaurus

Honestly, I think lumping Essek into the "c-word" category is completely unfair. All he wanted was to study the Beacon to find his mom a cure. I imagine getting it outside the kingdom was the only way to do so without being labeled a heretic. Obviously, trusting Trent was a mistake, and maybe his motives will change as the season goes on, I don't know, but still, for now I sympathize with him. I don't see him as a true villain, just a son desperate to save his mom. I know I would be.

Yoshinatorsaurus

Like we said, Mollymauk's class is the Blood Hunter. They're entire toolkit revolves around blood. The tracking and freezing is just the tip of the iceberg. Also, I might be wrong, but based on the dialog and how people address her, Nott might be a child herself, which would explain why she'd protective of them.

NERD!

I don't know where you got that Nott is a child.

Yoshinatorsaurus

Her VA literally describes her as a "little goblin girl" in the campaign and everyone else calls her "kid." Plus, Caleb said in episode one, "Aren't you a little young to be drinking?" If that's not the obvious implication, I don't know what is.

BrightEyes

The final line "Der Meister wird so froh sein, dass ich dich gefunden habe" translates to "The master will be pleased that I found you(singular)" The subtitle did't reflect the distinction here. So I guess she was talking to Caleb in this case and isn't there to hunt a Cobalt Soul monk

karfa117

For Beau asking if it said home on the card, I think it’s more that it’s small text on a card a bit away from her lit by a flickering flame (since she’s one of the few people in the group who can’t see well in the dark, being a regular ol’ human)

Wil DeYoung

Not Beau throwing blame at Jester and Fjord who literally did nothing to cause problems. They attended a show that went to hell and fought to save lives and defend themselves. No reason for them to be blamed at all. But also, Pop Pop

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

I interpreted that as meaning she *was* hunting Beau, but was pleasantly surprised to find Caleb there as well.

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

It could be his spellbook was stolen or destroyed — without it, a wizard would be extremely limited in what magic he could perform until he recovered it or put together a new one.

Bryce

I have been with CR since 2015. I caught up and was watching live starting episode 32 of Vox Machina. Sam always as a catch. A twist. It took me this long to realize it is an anagram. Well played, Sam.

Miranda Corvus

The Devil Toad is native to Xhorhas. He's referring to not belonging in this land...or among people

Omegon

Multiple Characters in the show refer to her as one.

BrightEyes

The word "dich" she used for "you" is the informal form. That implies that she either knows the recipient personally (at least as an acquaintance) or she deliberately used the wrong form to be rude. I didn't watch CR, so it is just guesswork on my end. But i cought the hint in episode 3. Beau lifted her bandages to show Deadeye that she isn't a Volstrucker. Interestingly Caleb has also bandaged arms.

Arashi

22:57 And... critical fail on lockpick. 23:55 Fjord talks a big game, but lacks the CHA and/or levels to back it up... :p 35:38 And Beau rolls high on spot, investigation and acrobatics. Including the pointless but cool backflips.

LikeCat

„pointless but cool backflips" is called „dope Monk shit"

Tintros

-Lol. "Fucking doors man.. *Knocks back drink*.. -38min in.. Mosco brand ASMR? -I'm not sure that's THE F-word.. I mean I'm sure the curse is gone by now, yeah? -It's a really good impression of Jester tho.. I mean to be fair.. -Every mage needs a Mosco telling everyone to stay the F away when they're casting -You and the 'Skittle Squad' would be amazing to play a TTRPG with :)
