im so hyped for this reaction ♥

James S

Oh, I've been waiting a long time to see this...

LikeCat

Indomitable starts playing: The show (Ruby's trimphunt moment) - ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Knows the "behind the scenes" stuff - 😭😭😭😭

LaviPastelQueen

I love the ruby vs cordovin moment (her speech and her amazing stunt) so much it's one of my absolute favorite moments, also Adam vs Blake and yang is always a delight to rewatch.

BGTitan

Ep 12: I’m thrilled to finally have Adam gone but I also appreciate Blake’s reaction to his death. She’s not celebrating or spitting on his grave. She’s distraught and sad and probably relieved and probably so many other emotions. Despite it all, Adam was someone that she at one point did hold so much love and affection for. From ages 12-17 he was someone so important to her, despite the fact that he orchestrated it that way, that he groomed her. Neither her nor Yang celebrate that he had to die despite everything he did to them. However, I will celebrate for them! Finally that bastard is dead! Long live the Bees! Oh, it’s Lenny the Leviathan! Hi, Lenny! Ep 13: I will never not get emotional when Ruby starts going through all her memories and we get to see not only shots from the first few volumes but also tiny baby Yang and Summer with an actual model. It’s obviously just a retooled Ruby model but it gets the job done. I mean, Raven’s model started out as just a palette swap of Yang’s so… Consistency. And that’s before we mention Indomitable playing when she finally uses her Silver Eyes. I cry, man. Every time. Without fail. That song is my freakin kryptonite. So ready for V7 man!

Joe

Going to respectfully disagree with you about Weiss being the strongest. She needs a team to bring out her best. She is powerful and definitely the most versatile member. Against Grimm Ruby is the strongest in a one-on-one fight eve Yang or Blake.

CheetsAC7

It's crazy how much is conveyed between Blake and Yang through body language. That hug between them after dealing with Adam is very possibly my favorite scene in RWBY. Just done so well and leaves such a lasting impact. The fight against Adam continues to be my favorite fight overall. I think it's just because of how cathartic it feels. Adam was just one of those characters who got under my skin, doing so many things that trigger me. There were so many moments he should have left the whole situation. SO many times he was told no, told to leave Blake alone. It was indeed a real feeling of freedom when he fell in the water. Lastly, I love Weiss. She is such an amazing character in this show.

AEON_42

In RWBY community we Call our best girl Weiss “the Beekeeper” Schnee, the biggest bumblebee shipper in the world…

Suplee215

Weiss is a mage. Just straight uo her semblence is a versatile set of spells that allow her to do so much.

Armando Reyes

You didn’t react to the volume 6 opening

Suplee215

I think Adam did a lot in volune 4 ajd 5 behind the scenes before getting defeated at his own game by a bigger group. He did a whole coup of the white fang and stuff. But kot of that is off screen so easy to just see the ending as his only appearance

Adrian ruiz martinez

After volume 6 they stopped the characters shorts as a way to save money and help production after production issues and testimonials from previous members of crwby talking about poor working conditions, mainly do to previous producer and roman torchwick va, gray haddock

Tammy Ragsdale

Six-Nine are my absolute favorite seasons. From here on out the animation keeps getting better, the fights are fun, fast, and clean and the tension keeps getting pushed up and up. There are also character developments and plot lines I enjoy, the writing is especially good from here on out, but I don't want to even hint at spoilers. Weiss, The Beekeeper, makes an appearance, yeah! The Blake/Yang vs Adam fight remains a highlight of this show. I think they did a really good job bringing it to a satisfying conclusion. The camera work, the choreography, the dialogue, all top-notch. I especially love that his death was not something they felt the need to celebrate. It's over and that's a relief for them, but they did what they had to and that's all. That was, indeed, Ruby's mom. As someone once put it, "Summer Rose haunts this shows narrative like it owes her money."

Ann_Temki

I love how the *last* time Yang used her semblance is against Adam when she lost her arm, but now she uses it against him to finally win. It’s so peak ✋😌🤚

Joe

The floating city is Atlas, and the city below is Mantle

Konrad Dunbar

yeah that's a wrap! Volume 6 is definitely one of my top 3 volumes for the series! I can't wait to see how much you enjoy vol 7! now I kind of want to go back and watch elijah's reaction to bumbleby fight again lol

Gihellcy

Goodbye Mistral, welcome to Atlas ~~ the volumes 7, 8 & 9 are such AMAZING volumes, and also a forkin' emotional roller coaster ^^ I really liked volumes 4 & 5, not for the fights, but for the slow pace, and all the yap & character developpement, however, volumes 6 to 9 are absolute PEAK :D (also, I will take a ticket for the Weisscream ship, please and thank you ~)

Dafydd Mac an Leigh

Fun little side note: in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West sends various creatures to capture or eliminate Dorothy and her friends: wolves, crows, bees, and finally the Winged Monkeys. With the post-credits scene, Salem now commands Grimm analogues of all four. (It's also worth noting that the Winged Monkeys are the only creatures the Witch needs a magical item to summon instead of already having at her disposal, much like the Winged Berengels are the only Grimm we see Salem actively creating herself.)

Lindsay

Salem is exactly what she was labeled by early humans on remnant. She’s the witch in every fairytale. She’s Hansel and gretels witch. She’s the wicked witch of the west etc… and then she’s also like Rapunzel locked away in a tower and saved by a prince in her early days.

Lindsay

Omg also you never watched the opening credits! It’s so good!

CrowOfAFeather

Sigh. "So good to see fight choreography back" It's almost like they didn't have someone steal a copious amount from their budget. Why is she seriously under the impression that CRWBY made a deliberate choice of not doing better in V5 when they were literally forced to? To anyone upset that I keep bringing this up, I'll stop when she stops beating the dead horse. It's been almost every video this volume and it's gonna be so disheartening if it keeps happening throughout the rest of the series. I don't get the obsession with being upset that Blake managed to taunt Adam, use her Semblance, and quickly bash him on the head. Adam is a bull faunus, got angered, and got owned by Blake's trickery. Adam IS pathetic and thus easy to anger and goad into attacks such as that. And when you don't have the budget for a big epic fight, it's a good way to showcase that he didn't want to fight Blake unless she was alone. Summer having Silver Eyes and Ruby looking just like her is something we've known since V3; Qrow showed an old photo of his team and we saw her there with the white hooded cloak, and he later confirms to Ruby after the fall that Summer also has silver eyes. Yep, two cities. Mantle down below, City of Atlas above. Next week's reaction should be fun.

Wil DeYoung

My feelings with the Adam fight are complicated but only from the perspective that I believe he was previously poorly executed. As Mosco has pointed out, V5 Adam is pathetic in a way that just isn't fun. I would have rather they do his descent into petty ex better because it felt more like a switch being flipped than a descent into obsession. That said, the final fight with him is so well done, they use the last of Monty's animations, some left over stuff they had from him regarding Adam, it's part of why the fight ended up so incredible. It shows just how dangerous Adam could be.

Ann_Temki

Fun fact: not only was the Sliver Eyes scene song about Monty and the creation of the show, but the mech with the drill is a reference to Gurren Lagann which is one of Monty’s favourite anime- the scene is a whole wonderful memento for Monty and what he’s made.

Ryan

Chapter 12: Not Mosco being so stressed by the fight that she completely missed Adam's question for Yang; "What does she even see in you!?" So, Yang finally defeated Blake's first evil ex. Only six more to go... Chapter 13: Speaking of WeissCream... we interrupt the impending destruction of Argus for a fashion show. I guess these are the hottest new looks in Atlas? This is the closest we'll ever come to seeing Phyrra in the new style. Probably for the best. It would probably give Mosco a heart attack. --- On to volume seven, and the Atlas arc! I hope you're ready for a lot of Winter lore; the volume borrows heavily from "Much Ado About Nothing". And Winter seeing her ex with another woman... get ready for Sapphics making good, rational decisions.

Taigan

Am I the only one who first saw Atlas and wasn’t blow away by the city in the clouds? All I could see was the cramped, smog-covered city underneath it. From that first view, I was thinking “am I gonna end up hoping Atlas looses by the end of this? Is everyone there like the guests at the parts where Weiss flipped out? Rich, self-centered and clueless?”

Liam Gradwell

Glad to see Mosco finally acknowledging the how a big baddie Blake is. Because Yass Queen, she is. 😍💅🖤

SQX Barto

Hm, a City on Top(side) and one Under(city), I'm sure they are equal, right? :)

SportySpice

Qrow confirmed Summer had silver eyes at the end of V3. The V6 finale was not the reveal/confirmation.

Cali Jester

My dude, Mattables shoutout! Let's gooooooo!

CB Jones

They won! I do appreciate that they don't kiss here though I understand the thought. They're not in the right place for it, having just come through something so traumatic, and Blake especially is in such an emotionally vulnerable place. Other shows might have/ have done and been weaker for it, RWBY doesn't rush its character arcs. So the fight itself happens on a couple of levels, there's a mental level of Adam trying to undermine and terrorise the two of them, and the physical battle layered over it. Blake and Yang both fight aspects of both but the psycological battle is mainly Blake's. Which fits, because the scars Blake carries from Adam are mostly mental, the years of gaslighting, manipulation and belittling being something she's been fighting and healing from since Vol1, and it hits a fever pitch here. He ambushes herself alone, tries to shame and bait her into fighting on his terms rather than getting somewhere Yang can find them then tries to keep her feeling guilty and unsure of herself across the entire fight. When Yang arrives her tries to make her doubt Blakes commitment to her and her own abilities. And he loses. Blake has spent Volumes building herself back up with the love and trust others have shown her, she's commited herself to becoming the person she wants to be and has earned back Yang's trust. And Yang is insightful enough see exactly who Adam is and what he's trying to do. In a sense Blake enters this fight having already won, Adam told her that peace wasn't possible but it's exactly what she and her parents achieved, he told her that humans wouldn't see her as an equal but Yang wants nothing more than to be her partner, and he made her feel like she was undeserving of love but her team, family and friends have given her the confidence to believe that she is. The physical battle is mostly Yang's to win, Blake is extremely capable but having been trained by Adam she struggles particularly when fighting alone to gain much ground. It also, again, matches the the arc being told: Yang suffered a significant physical trauma at Adam's hands, she needs to beat him to prove to herself that she can in a way that Blake doesn't. And this is where we get into how intelligently Yang handles this fight. She come in fighting as normal, aggressive and direct, driving Adam back until he uses his semblance to strike back. Once Blake explains his semblance Yang switches tactics, still agressive but highly mobile, she keeps up the attack while avoiding any avenue that he can absorb. Until she can't. When they fight together Blake and Yang can keep up the pressure but once they're separated Yang switches tactics once again. She goes full defensive, baiting an enraged Adam to drain every bit of energy he's gathered trying to hit her while charging her own semblance to it's maximum. Then once he has nothing left to throw out his sword is essentially harmless, and she can down him in a single punch. As she said: "Smarter". I've mentioned before that this fight has more grounded and visceral violence than most others in the show and the conclusion really exemplifies that, no flashy techniques just a frantic dash for a couple of sharp pieces of metal and a messy stabbing. It's also a bit of a watershed for the show, we've had villans kill off characters but outside of some early volume ambiguousness this is the first time that our protaganists deliberately end someone. And it's honestly something I appreciate. RWBY does a great job of making these characters feel real and having them fight until Adam slips off a roof/ cliff Gaston style to keep them squeaky clean would feel contrived. When backed into a corner these girls will do what they have to to keep eachother safe. And they should.

SportySpice

V6 sticks every landing IMO: the fight scenes are incredible (Cinder/Neo, Maria/Tock, B/Y vs Adam), the crazy lore drops, JNR coming to terms with Pyrrha and the fight ahead, a horror arc tying into their descent into defeatism and renewed hope, Blake/Yang dovetailing their individual character arcs with their shared one, Ruby coming into her own as a hero, Qrow re-finding his center. The animation is great, the music is great, it’s well paced, it’s balanced. Just stellar.

Jayy

Let's go my fav volume next!

Geass

12:36 It feels like we have been waiting forever for that.

Sarah Stephens

Been waiting for this one for awhile and glad to have it to take my mind off the storm for a few

PheonixCantra

thats the name of the wicked witch of the west in OZ

Mare

- Adam falling down the cliff, is a brief shout out to how Gaston had fallen off the ledge in Beauty and the Beast. - Salem alludes to the Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz. So yes, those flying monkeys allude to "The Wizard of Oz." The Grimm version are referred to as "Beringels." - Cordovin's mecha, pays homage to Gurren Lagann's mecha with the same arm drill called the "Giga Drill Break." In fact a lot of RWBY was inspired by Gurren Lagann as well as Final Fantasy 8. So a lot of homages and easter eggs. - Yes, that is definitely Ruby's mother. Her main color is white which is why the her old team was called Team STRQ because it comes from the color "Stark White" describing a pure white hue. - The end credit with Salem indicates that she is no longer going to restrict herself and be passive. She's finally going to be actively involved. Glad you made it to the end! The rocky road with the relics continue so there's never a dull moment. However, this ends the Mistral Arc and now you're moving forward to the start of the "Atlas Arc."

Mare

Yeah I agree, definitely wasn't the right moment for the Bees to kiss, especially with their emotions and anxieties running high. They still needed to mentally and mentally heal from what previously transpired as well as their past circumstances. We've seen it in most western media where it's always rushed in the heat of some catharsis. So it's nice what CRWBY has done here with the Bees.

Mare

LOL, I see that Scott Pilgrim reference.

TheRavenWanderer

Mosco after the first Pyrra scene: "I'm fine. I'm fine..." CRWBY right before showing the rest: "Ahahaa! Are you?" But really, the timing on the vid pauses was just gold lol.

DragonBlaze

Note. If you hear Qrow sounding different in volume 7. Its because the VA was replaced.

Andrew Hart

Totally agree, and after volume 5, volume 6 needed to be all those things. I genuinely believe that volume 6 saved the show from falling away and also kickstarted a run of incredible volumes. On to volume 7!

Andrew Hart

It is such a shame we never get to see Pyrrha in the new style. I bet it would be really cool too.

Phoenix_mercury

It *looks* incredible but it's also very literal in it's "we're above everyone/it all" so with a pop that's not... Atlas, it could be an amazing place like any of the others

Andrew Hart

I hope you get a chance to react to the volume 6 intro before volume 7.

Elizabeth McLaughlin

Agreed on the V5 stuff, it's like the one 'bad' thing about the reactions that drives me insane. And you'd think, given she and Elijah are creating their own show you'd think she understands the impact Gray would have had on V5 and V6 (remember they made like 1/3 of V6 on unpaid overtime!).

Arashi

And we're done with volume 6 and my favorite 30 seconds of the volume being Indomitable's insert. Managed to catch up a lot to Elijah. Still, volume 7 and 8 are very cool. I mean, sure they pretty blatantly ripped off Cyberpunk 2077 but seeing Yang pull off her aviators and say 'Wake up Huntress, we gotta city to burn' does hit hard. As a whole, volume 6's OST is my favorite, though individual songs from other volumes rank higher. Part of it is how songs play off each other, Lionized (from the Adam short) has a direct response in Nevermore (that was background to the Blake and Yang vs. Adam fight). Path to Isolation is also called Mirror, Mirror Part .5 for a reason. Forever Fall... well, you watched chapter nine. One Thing with Neo has some...implications.

Erinyes

I hope so to. I don't know why we have collectively decided that info and foreshadowing in OPs are somehow spoilers. Like, I get it with promo materials because sometimes marketing and the creative staff aren't talking to each other. But OPs? The show creators meant for you to see that stuff at the spot they put it in.

Vex Valor

Remember to react to the intro now. Volume 6 is definitely up there as one of my favorites as well. It has so many great moments.

Wootcat

And he's sober... (headcannon for voice change)

Wootcat

Not sure if you caught that the image of Summer was from Jinn. "And while you don't seek knowledge, just this once, I shall give it freely." Jinn gave Ruby the image of her mother to give her the final push to activate her silver eyes.

May

I agree about ops not being spoilers, it’s her choice whether to watch it, but ops are supposed to get you excited for the season and get you theorizing. That’s exactly what’s fun about watching people react to the op. I mean occasionally there’s op’s that are particularly spoilery but that’s rare. Seeing characters you don’t even know isn’t really going to affect anything because well, those characters don’t mean anything to you at that point. I’m fine with her choosing not to watch them, just was a bit surprised. She seems to enjoy theorizing, and theorizes typically love watching and analyzing ops. I remember theorizing about the vol 6 op when it first released with friends. The fun and excitement I got theorizing about the op and seeing what’s to come far outweighed the perhaps inconsequential spoilers there may be.

May

You’re justified here. I’m not too upset over it, but I don’t enjoy it either. In general, reactors that get really critical of something specific and constantly bring it up is pretty irritating to most viewers even if they don’t entirely disagree with the criticism. It’s odd, because I’ve seen some indication that she seems to have read Patreon comments before, but at the same time it doesn’t seem like she reads them at all considering there are times like this where so many people have mentioned something so many times and it somehow doesn’t appear to reach her. I mean if she doesn’t want to be spoiled couldn’t Elijah read them? It wouldn’t take long to at least skim through them. Or if she doesn’t, that’s fine, but it be nice if she made sure people were aware of that none of the comments would reach her. I know other reactors that don’t look at the comments but typically have someone else check them so that they get information like this. But yeah, it’d be nice for her to at least acknowledge that they really weren’t at fault for the quality drop. I mean, The Owl House season 3 was rushed, but no one was going to be very critical about it because we knew it wasn’t their fault.

JustMonika

This volume was one of my favorites

Cinder's Apologist

watching Adam get murdered is always so exhilarating and satisfying. and yes, that is the end of him, for good. but fun tidbit: the end credit song "Nevermore" is a Blake POV song directed at Adam, conveying her feelings as she breaks away from him and vows that he won't control her anymore, that she is reclaiming her life. if you don't like the way those soldiers wouldn't step in to help in the finale, then you are in for one hell of a ride during the Atlas arc. after all, good soldiers always follow orders... yeah, the fact that Mosco was already getting worked up over just ONE Pyrrha snapshot... man. I mean, I'm a big Pyrrha fan myself but at some point, you just gotta roll with the pain. that's just how RWBY works. oh man, not another Neo simp! but I love it haha. Weiss is the Bee Keeper. just saying ;) on to the Atlas arc! nothing can possibly go wrong now! RIGHT???

morthasa

Possibly one of the best thumbnail choices in the whole channel

CrowOfAFeather

Exactly, May! That, and I just think that as a show-writer for an indie animation, you'd have more respect for what CRWBY managed to do with what they had despite setbacks, instead of blaming them repeatedly for lowered quality and make a beating-horse running gag out of it for a whole volume after. If she keeps doing that for V7 onwards, I might just unsubscribe.

Andrew Hart

I’m pretty sure the knowledge she gave freely was the fact that she wouldn’t allow Ruby to use her without a question again. Ruby was remembering Summer like she was remembering the other images. It’s just that because summer died when she was young she has these idealised memories of her.

xenith

ohmygod yes!! Mattables is such a great reactor too!!

Jittercritter

I’m glad you’re acknowledging how utterly terrifying Adam is in these episodes. He stalked Blake that whole time which is scary enough, but that fight is also way scarier than people give it credit for, because he lasted way longer than either of them when you really sit back and compare notes. Before Blake even arrived, Adam took out an entire Atlas outpost by himself, something he used to do with Blake’s assistance. Then when she arrived, he fought her and they BOTH fell off the very top. Then they fought one on one again. THEN he got hit full speed by Bumblebee while it was ALSO falling off of a cliff, so that had to do a lot of damage or his aura. Then he fought Blake and Yang one on two. Then after all of that, Blake’s aura still broke before his. Then he fought Yang one on one, and their auras still broke at the same time. Adam was absolutely terrifying. It’s a shame the season 5 dip happened the way it did, but volume 6 gave Adam the presence he needed and gave Blake the closure she deserved. Her ‘win’ in s5 felt cheap because it washed out/conflicted the severity of the events and her behavior in seasons 1-3, but this season truly shows WHY she was so terrified of him. But it also gives me a lot more respect for Blake. Her mentor was someone who could and would take out entire Atlas outposts all by himself, and she still turned out to be someone who would rather keep the peace and always look for a diplomatic solution. Bless her.

Suplee215

Salem is most directed based on the evil witch. She is also based on evil witches in general and take the role of the bad guy from a lot of other characters' stories. Shes the old witch in tbe woods youre warned about in fairy tales.

39

My favorite volumes are every volume from here on. Enjoy <3

DominusInFortuna

Now that Adam officially (and for the last time) returned, I can finally say it: The flashbacks Yang and Blake had during the trip to Argus had one major difference: While Yang saw him in his outfit with the mask (showing that it was just her imagination, since Adam ditched the mask between V5 and V6), Blake saw him with the blindfold during the train ride, when she detached the train car. That sighting was real. Remember when Qrow told the two morons hired by the Argus Limited that one of them left the staff entrance to the caboose open? it was neither of the two. It was Adam going on board. That makes the whole stalking a lot creepier.

TheRavenWanderer

I'll take that as mg headcanon now as well if you don't mind. Thanks!

DragonBlaze

That's fine. I just wanted that to be explained in case Mosco asked " Why does Qrow sound so different?"

Suplee215

One thing with Adam that revealed in this fight I thibk makes it clear how he was able to beat Yang. His semblence is similoar to Yang's. And Yang been on live tv showing it off. Whereas she had no idea what his was.

brad

Weiss is the squishy wizard of the team lots of support tissue paper defenses if you can hit her directly. well tissue for a huntress.

RaisedEyebrow

Confession time: When I first watched RWBY, all of the Bumblebee hints (or Yake and Blang, as Elijah calls it) went STRAIGHT over my head; emphasis on the straight. It wasn't until THIS episode I figured out what was being teased. And it wasn't until I saw Elijah's reactions that all of the neon bright signs got really obvious to me!

MigDozzer

Pretty sure she only reads stuff from discord and her mods.

SauceyRed

41:30 It never occurred to me until now that... I've never thought about what Summer's semblance was. Has it ever been brought up in any RWBY media/by CRWBY? (DON'T tell me what it is, just tell me if it's known.)

SauceyRed

I wish I could remember if it went straight over my head or not, but unfortunately my long-term memory's absolutely abysmal (which is why I started recording my own reactions and thoughts, purely for personal use). And also I have no idea when I started becoming aware of LGBTQ enough to start noticing things in media.

Charlee's World

The truth of the matter is Ozpin and Oscar don't have a choice on them becoming one

Rixec2

Mosco: Have I mentioned how much I love Weiss? Yes, but don't ever stop. Best girl deserves eternal praise and love! :D

Shaky Tail Studios

Worth noting Yang ignored literally all of Tai's advice in this fight and won. She also demonstrated in the V5 short that she already knew the stuff he was 'teaching' her.

Shaky Tail Studios

Adam: Oh... (He just realized he wasn't the main character)

Tial

Did she forget to react to the Volume 6 Opening or did I miss it somewhere?

John J Ronald

I disagree. She was much more cautious and measured. She didn't just blindly charge in like she did in Vol.3; she drew him in, she fought smarter, not harder.

John J Ronald

I can't believe there were any Bumbleby deniers after this volume of RWBY but alas, there were. They were just a joke after this, though. I'm talking about OG reactors at the time, reacting a week after the episodes first aired.

John J Ronald

Some fun OG reactors were also from Scotland, most notably a lesbian couple whose channel was called Xiao Long Media; they cosplay as Yang & Blake and even came to RTX in Austin one year.

Shaky Tail Studios

So, I have a very extensive post on the topic here (https://www.tumblr.com/tumblingxelian/766359059739901952?source=share) But in short: Yang showed in the V5 short that she already knew the "leg sweep" thing. Yang has consistently done things like undermine her foes stances or ability to maneuver by targeting the ground, and otherwise used everything from creative dodges, blocks and striking patterns to luring people in with traps and never relied on getting hurt on purpose. Nor did using her Semblance ever leave her "weak and tired" at least until the Adam fight and then only in that fight specifically. What's more, Tai explicitly advised her against intentionally taking damage and relying on her Semblance to win a fight and she did both of those things as well. IE, took attacks on purpose, relied on it to win her the fight and was left weak and tired as a result. This is also the first time she's done any of that. When Yang 'fought' Adam the first time she'd already been stressed from being framed and seeing her home in flames, along with her sister missing and the recent revelation both uncle & father have been lying to her about Raven for over a decade. This was then followed up with seeing her partner and crush seriously wounded, seemingly left out of Aura in a burning building with Grimm and the attacker who hurt her looming over her and separating them. He has a sword and likely a gun and can presumably end Blake any time he wants. He can pivot to any angle Yang might attack from and if she tries to strike from afar or disrupt the ground she could hurt Blake. Yang had ZERO options in that scenario except try and move as fast as possible in a bid to eliminate or at least remove/drive off the threat in order to try and protect Blake. & if not for Adam's Semblance it might have worked, but maybe not. As Qrow said. Sometimes bad things just happen. It was not her fault.

ml

Absolutely one of the best analysis I've seen on this fight scene! A lot of people missed the symbolic hints behind it
