This is one of my favorite episodes!!! I found it again when I was rewatching mlp during quarantine and I was absolutely suffering, but too afraid of being a burden on my friends to speak out. After watching this one I reached out to my best friend and that push helped me get my life back on track! This show really is something special and it means the world to me, I’m so glad you’re doing this series!!❤️

If someone hasn't said it, make sure to pay attention to what background ponies are doing throughout the series. They are a huge part of why the fandom is so strong.

This was one of two episodes that made Applejack my favorite of the Mane Six. I feel having weaknesses she thinks are strengths (determination, giving and never taking) is more interesting & complex than more obviously selfish flaws. And it's an early example of how the series often prefers balance to straight-up correction in its lessons. Also, others have probably mentioned this, but a few of these early stories were originally plotted to run 11 minutes before being padded out to a full 22, which makes the characters seem a little more slow to learn than intended. But I'm impressed with how quickly the show finds its footing. Finally, I'd forgotten how early Twlight developed her habit of teleport-spamming when she's nervous or frustrated. Almost like a sort of magic incontinence.

So, this ep is one of the actually positive occurrences of 'executive meddling'. Lauren's original idea was that the Apples harvest via "Applebonking" that is, running head first into the trees. The execs decided this was too plausible for kids to imitate the behavior and get hurt, and so she changed to 'applebucking'. They did keep the original idea of her being so out of it due to the repeated head trauma for the Pinkie Pie scene, but had it be her just hitting her head because she was too tired to notice where she was going. Speaking of Pinkie, yes, there are Bronies who have made the Baked Bads IRL, and they turned out to be actually not the bad..... as long as you replaced the earthworms with gummy worms.Also, the scene gave us one of the largest and most beloved fan derived character traits. The Muffin Mare! You will meet more of Best Pony later, but this is where her love of muffins originated. Oh, and the Pony who you really liked the look of, her name is Roseluck. She's usually seen as a group with the other two ponies, Lily and Daisy, who are collectively know as the Flower Trio. They are treated as kind of Ponyville's early warning system, as they will be the first ones to freak out if anything starts happening.

Honestly though, I wouldn't say that Rainbow Dash is the only character who looks like a Pride flag in this show, considering Twilight's hair give me major bisexual flag vibes. Also, on a different note: this fandom is kinda nuts, see, when they presented the muffins to the ponies in that one scene, one of them, a grey pony with a blonde mane the fandom named Derpy, said the word 'muffin' in a dreamy way...and that was all that was needed to make everyone forever associate her with muffins and become like...her thing. She initially became popular in episode 1 when she appeared cross-eyed in the background one time in a crowd shot.

Yeah, this is one of the childish stuff I was talking about. You'll learn very early the mane ponies fatal flaws besides their elements. Applejack's is pretty much her stubbornness, slight competitiveness (You'll see too well), and maybe not wanting to fail anyone.

Hey, just letting you know that there have been some "freeze and skip" moments in all 3 MLP videos so far (ie your video freezes for a few seconds, then skips a few seconds ahead before continuing). Not sure if it's something on my end or if anyone else has encountered the same thing, but it might be worth looking into.

It's definitely on the upload itself because when downloading the video and watching it in VLC, it retains the exact same freeze and skips. But I have no idea what could cause something like that in the video itself. Perhaps a glitch in the export process?

Really, I wouldn't be surprised if the reason so many adults gravitated to the show is the fact that they teach lessons we all need to know/remember. They don't do just simpler lessons that kids need, they go for some stronger topics too. It's quite amazing really. And yes. Ponyville Ponies are the most dramatic bunch of them all.

I'm so happy you're checking out this show! Watching these episodes again gives me so much nostalgia. This show really is just a charming little ray of sunshine in the abyss that is real life haha. As is typical for long shows like these, it definitely gets better overtime! Once the creators noticed that they had a much more massive adult audience than they expected, they started to take it a bit more seriously. I love your little gay flag for rainbow as well haha. One thing that's cool abt this show is that it IS lgbt friendly despite being made for kids and produced quite a long time ago now. This isn't a spoiler, but the fandom for mlp was always quite queer, especially as the show went on. So many background characters were theorized to be together and the show eventually canonized a lot of easter-egg relationships. When it comes to the main cast you can imagine how many ships there were lol. Rainbow is shipped with literally all of the cast, but every member is shipped with at LEAST two different main ponies. My fake spoiler is that pinkie pie turns out to actually be the most grounded and normal one of the friendgroup. Trust.

Mosco You don’t want to have a short tail as anykind of horse or horse related thing. Horses need long tails to swap flies off their butts. Otherwise the flies will bite them constantly. In days past there are whole sections on the history of animal, cruelty, dedicated to rich people who owned horses for carriages that that horse tails didn’t look attractive so they yanked them out at the point of their bodies so the air wouldn’t grow back.
