I grow tulips

armadillo_arts

i hope mosco’s ready to Lock In next episode 💀

Michael W

The Big Bug Ball Game. Anne’s very athletic This is going to come in handy. Chuck is actually voiced by Matt Braly. Respect to his Tulips 🌷 Toadstool has a unique ability to pull Anne offsides. When Frog Jordan talks about worrying less about the outcome and more on the enjoyment of the game I have to laugh. Being from the States I know that Michael Jordan is psychotically competitive. He takes it personally (IYKYK). Anne, check the drinks first in this world. Combat Camp: More Nintendo references. Sure, give Polly explosive Fungi. What could go wrong? Sprig’s smart enough to realize something is up, but Anne is just too desperate for validation. Tritonio is a weasel of a Newt but what he shows them is helpful. “ Glad to know we didn’t have two wacky adventures this week.” The meta is strong with this one. Next week 💩’s gonna start hitting the fan.

MaoDoodles

They didnt get Michael Jordan in this show, but do stay on the lookout for celebrities in this show!

Michael W

They don’t have enough in the budget to get him.

Joey Quixote

"The Big Bugball Game" Not against the rules! A human playing bugball? We've seen stranger things. -Fun fact: Chuck grows tulips. -Sprig with the tongue-out dunk is actually a reference to Michael Jordan who famously struck that pose. -Again, appreciating Anne being a jock. Usually the jock is relegated to the 2nd string dumdum of the friend group. Not the lead. "Combat Camp" With a dirty trick, A dirtier foe bested. Learn from your teachers. -There is most certainly some Legend of Zelda influence in this series. Matt is a gamer and did pull inspiration from the franchise for this show. Some of it more obvious than others. -Why in the flashback does Anne have leaves in her hair? Continuity error or has she just always been a disaster? -Ah, Anne's trusty sword! Never leaves her side from this point forward!

Joey Quixote

While he wasn't a poor sport publicly, there are so many stories of him being an absolute nightmare off the court.

Charlie Odinoco

I like that since it's later in the season, the characters had had enough actual development to get a win instead of just a moral victory like earlier in the season, with stuff like the cooking competition.

Taigan

@22:35. It was not “subtle” foreshadowing.

Geass

I can't believe I forgot about Chuck.

Iago24

I think that the weapon references include Mjolnir and He-Man's sword on the wall. Not sure about other swords on the rack, though.

A.B.

Just a few more weeks :)

Dovahkat

Aside from the blatant Legend of Zelda reference, I'm fairly certain the top sword on the sword rack was a Hollow Knight reference, being a near perfect match for the Nail wielded by the Knight. No clue what the third sword would be, though. That one doesn't ring any bells for me.

Vex Valor

I think the bottom sword is Dawnbreaker from Skyrim. I never played Skyrim myself, but based on pictures of video game swords, it's the one that looks the most like it. Also this episode has an art error in it if you didn't notice it. They accidentally used Anne's Wartwood model in her classroom flashback instead of her Earth model.

David Johnson

Well, Michael Jordan *did* do Space Jam.

Michael W

One of the reasons those Chicago Bulls won so much with him was because no one wanted to deal with him if they lost.

Cali Jester

You put some respect on Chucks name! He grows Tulips dammit!

Sam Macias

Can't believe Mosco missed Adora's twin brother sword on the wall lmao

Darkminou

The top sword look a lot like the Hollow Knight sword. Wich is funny as the lil guy is an insect

RaisedEyebrow

Yeah, with all the train-themed hints in the second story, the twist foreshadowing graduated right into fiveshadowing.

BakaSama

Aside from The Master Sword, all I recognized was He-Man’s Sword on the wall. Oh and Tritonio being a parody of Inigo Montoya from the Princess Bride.

ArcticBanana

There's an additional unintended layer to the meta joke of Hop Pop's comment about "having two wacky adventures every week": Disney didn't air Amphibia's first season weekly, they decided to air it DAILY (it's thought that Disney may have been rushing it so it could finish before the first season of The Owl House started). Anne and the Plantars were having two wacky adventures a DAY. Despite his voice being very similar to Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Tritonio Espada is NOT voiced by Dan Povenmire like many people think. He's voiced by Matt Chapman of the famous Brothers Chaps, creators of Homestar Runner. If you listen very closely you can occasionally hear little traces of Strongbad in Tritonio's voice.

Sabrina

21:19 could be wrong but I think that's the knights nail from hollow knight lol

Henkotron

Also his full name is Hoppadiya Plantar

DoctorAlakazam

Don't you talk to Chuck like that. That MY Boy.

DoctorAlakazam

Been waiting for you to see the Master Sword. Keep an eye out. That was absolutely not the last Zelda reference in the show.

BigPoppaJohn89

apparently you've never seen Space Jam

Tristan N Milner

Cause she's more familiar with the better Dreamworks version and not the original sell-more-toys version? Also, the Dreamworks staff joked that Kyle was the He-Man stand in but he never found the sword.

Tristan N Milner

Speaking of Celebrity's in Amphibia, Troy Baker (Vex and Vax's dad), Sam Riegel (Scanlan/Nott the Brave), and his sister Eden Riegel (Guinevere Knights of Guinevere, Boscha The Owl House) are all credited as Additional Voices for 20+ episodes of the series. Stephen Root is Mayor Toadstool. Dee Bradely Baker (Momo and Appa Avatar:TLA, Monster Eda The Owl House) are just a few worth mentioning. For now. Can't wait for you to hear that character from season 3 that had your girlfriend giggling. Happy Pride!

Mud Purple

i think the top sword on the shelf of swords was the needele from hollow knight

Andy 322

Word has that Chuck grows tulips.

Someday Sera

The top sword is the nail, the main character's weapon in hollow knight.

Yoshinatorsaurus

"I grow tulips." Absolutely iconic. I have a feeling Chuck will grow on you. Also, Tritonio is a really fun character. Credit where it's due, he DID teach Anne some good sword fighting skills. And you'll see how useful it'll be soon enough.

Rixec2

You should totally react to Space Jam. It's a Looney Tunes movie where they get Michael Jordan's help to play basketball in the vein of Who Framed Roger Rabbit where cartoons and real people interact.

Vegvisir92

the bottom sword on the rack looks a little bit like King Theodens sword from Lord of the Rings

Faroth

Pretty sure the bottom one is Dawn breaker from Skyrim, top one is from hollow knight and on the right is the sword of the Mezord from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
