Looks like Caine wasn’t lying when he sang: 🎶IT’S TIME YOU SEE THAT THIS GREAT MARQUEE IS THE ONLY PLACE YOU’RE EVER GONNA BE🎶 At least he’s not running the show anymore

Bliss

IT JUST CAME OUT LMAOO HOW oh we’re watching the Brazilian leak? 😭

xattygt

You got early access?

Otaku Twenty-Four Seven

I'm watching the original episode right now but I'll be watching your reaction next though. I saw it at the cinema and I'm ready to cry again

Bliss

absolute cinema

Yoshinatorsaurus

Posting this right when the premiere is happening? Now THAT'S fast.

Adan Guzman

I thought this was gonna be a livestream at first. 😅

Yoshinatorsaurus

I wouldn't say Jax is trans per se, just not "traditionally manly" enough for his parents. And he's afraid to show emotions as a result. It's possible, there's just not enough evidence for me, personally. EDIT: Well, looks like Gooseworx just confirmed it. Boy, I feel like an idiot.

Cali Jester

Before I've even watched, I have to be the unhappy prick in the comments. And it's not me bashing on you because I really enjoy all your content. I don't think watching a "Not so great" version of this was correct. It sucks that what happened did happen but saying you're watching that version to avoid spoilers isn't a good reason. There are better ways to do this. Granted you are releasing this after it came out on YouTube which I thank you for. I'm just disappointed of the way you went to do this review. Sorry I have to that. Much love and big bear hugs.

MattTOB

In my opinion, that just wouldn't make sense with *how* severely self-destructive Jax became as a result of telling Ribbit, and *how* prominent they made the maid outfit / Jax's commentary on it.

Someday Sera

Not quite what I expected or wanted, but a very satisfying ending all the same. A different reactor really re-framed how I saw the show and I think that has dramatically colored my appreciation for the finale's approach.

Jinu

Jax is tragic. more so than not a good person or anything, that’s what he is. unable to handle receiving affection or opening up about himself. yes he did awful things, poor Ribbit and Kaufmo, but poor Jax too. i was so cursing him out in my head every time i watched this in theaters but i was also crying and some of the tears were for him too, poor all of them. all so deserved better.

Jake DB

1:14:00 now I am not a die-hard Jax fan who thinks he can do no wrong, he can. However I get the feeling that what he said to Ribbet was probably the truth; it just makes little sense otherwise. Yes its possible he could have misremembered, like you said, where he blew things out of proportion and all that and hurt his mother, but at the same time idk, the way he was talking about his parents like that... You can't fake something like that. Sure, you can make it convincing, but you can't 100% fake that unless you have had an experience like that. And the fact that immediately after he rushed out of her room, he was saying how stupid he was and how he could be such a fool... Something tells me, given his story and how he "will never live up to his father" or "I wasn't being the son he wanted" tells me this may have been a situation where he was conditioned to surpress his emotions cause "emotions are for sissy's" or whatever stupid shit his father said, so that old part of him that was taught to be more like what his father wanted came out and was saying "no you can't do this, your not supposed to be like this" or whatever. Thus he begins hiding himself behind walls and acting like it "was no big deal, nothing happened". Yet despite that, the other part of him is trying to come out, the part of him his father tried to teach him to be ashamed of and to never let anyone see. Ultimately however it takes too long and it becomes too late, and so, with the one person he got super close to now gone, and it being seen as his fault (the fault of the part of him that is trying to be the son his dad wanted) he doubles down on the walls in an effort to try and protect himself from ever getting that hurt again, and from what he probably saw as, hurting others by opening himself up and being... well, himself. Of course however, Kaufmo ended up abstracting because he was trying to find an exit out of here and that he probably saw he lost two friends (he probably thought Jax was acting the way he was because he lost Ribbet, and so Kaufmo probably blamed himself and was like "I should have done more to be there for him"). So when Jax saw Kaufmo abstract he probably had the thought of "well apparently I don't even have to get especially close to someone to get hurt/hurt them, I just have to be friends with them" so now he further walled himself in by now just not even trying to be friendly with anyone. And then from there you basically get to his whole actions and attitude in the show and you get to see how he is spiraling and all that jazz. okay sorry i kinda went on longer then i was wanting to XD hahah my mistake, TLDR, Jax's story to ribbet (at least to me) seems genuine and would explain a lot about how he acts, and considering what we see of his irl-self at the end during the slideshow, that to me just more or less mostly confirms that what he was saying was true

Taigan

I didn’t think Jax was trans going into the final episode, but after I saw it it seems clear to me. 1) Gooseworx is a trans woman. 2) when asked which character she identified with most, she said Jax. 3) Jax said he told his mother something deeply personal that would “get her off my back” when she kept saying he was as bad as his father. I don’t think it was “I’m not traditionally manly. 4) Jax would not have been as freaked out about Ribbit telling anyone else if it wasn’t something huge. 5) the music choice of “Isn’t she lovely” as Jax was passing into abstraction. (I’m using he/him pronouns for Jax because he never accepted the identity for himself. But it certainly seems like Gooseworx was exploring the horror of not transitioning, just like I Saw The TV Glow)

2026-09-07 19:00 To me everything with Jax in this reads as surreptitious confirmation that the character is transfem. Especially the song that plays over that final montage. Of course I am transfem myself so that’s definitely coloring things, but I feel like there’s a good case to be made.

I'm (allegedly) cishet and I've read Jax has an egg waiting to crack for a while now ... at the very least since the maid outfit incident.

Taigan

I was so f***ing scared you weren’t going to finish watching the credits when you took the earphones out at the start of them! 😅 I’m surprised you didn’t mention/pick up on the implication that Jax was trans in his* confession to Ribbit. I’d heard the theory but didn’t believe it going into the finale. But watching it, I was like “oh, yeah. That’s pretty blatant.” I don’t pay much attention to the creators of shows that I watch. If I’d known that Gooseworx was a trans woman and said in post that Jax was the character she identified with the most, I might have put that together. When I watched this in theaters, and the scene of Pomni and Ragatha hugging came up, and then there was that long shot of the two of them walking away looking back at each other, I kept expecting something to happen. I swear I heard Mosco’s voice saying “I don’t trust it! I DON’T TRUST IT!!” 😄 *im using he/him pronouns for Jax because he never claimed a different identity.

Ryan

I think the slate card is legit - episode nine, sequence five, shot thirty-six. I would have to go back and count to be sure. Everyone knew Jax was going to abstract. You would have to have been media illiterate to miss the build-up. But the hints that they're trans were much more subtle. And I was not expecting them to feed the Jax/Gangle shippers in the middle of a "what if" montage of Jax's guilt for causing Ribbit to abstract. Followed by a speed run of Jax's trauma and confirming my theory. I knew it. I FUCKING KNEW IT! I'm sorry that you've had to go through all that, and I'm glad that you're in a place now where you can talk about it. And that you have a top shelf emotional support lesbian. I've thought about opening that door from time to time, but never opened it to look inside, or started down that hall. And the fact that I've never really had to face those demons makes me wonder if I am would be strong enough to if I did. And I realize how fucked up that is to think. Good thing you and Elijah get to see this in theaters because the sound mix in this version is as rough as a sandpaper enema. Well, that was a weird ending. I can see why some people would have been upset by it. Because it's not a happy ending. Because life doesn't have happy endings. There's no grand plan, no epic finale. There's just life, and you have to keeping living it. I can see having to watch this being part of the curriculum in philosophy classes in the future. Tumblr is going to have a fucking field day analyzing this.

Stephen Mumford

I am saddened that you're working off the leaked copy here, but as long as you guys actually supported them at the theater, I can live with that. I don't think it was terribly difficult to avoid spoilers between the leak and the theatrical release, but I'm also not in the reactorsphere, so I can't speak to the difficulty of avoiding them elsewhere.

Annieme

My understanding/theory is that the red dot got more human things added into its ai programming (emotions and such) where as blue dot didn’t and so red dot learned and had emotions (like anger) which, in the end, makes him understand the human experience more. I remember coming up with this theory-ish when I watched ep8. I’d need to rewatch to make it make more sense haha

Alex Malix

What you said about Jax is 100% true, and that is the tragedy of his character. My brother had a fucked up life, and because of that pain he went through and no one to talk to, he made terrible life choices and inflicted pain on others. He passed away at 29, and I've had almost 20 years to think about the man he was, and if therewas something I could have done to help him. He was a complex person and for all the anger I have for the things he put me through, I mourn the man he could have been if he got help before the end

Taigan

I was also confused by the scenes with Caine before he returned. What I think was happening was we were seeing two separate events interwoven. The scenes where he was just an abstract red shape were far in the past where he was first gaining access to the mind files and creating the characters in the circus. The scenes of him as fully rendered Caine were in the present and showing him gaining an external internet access, allowing him to gain the information on the characters’ real life counterparts.

Lani

Kinda weird asf but ig

pb-owls

On Caine’s splitting: I think that, given it’s still AI, while also working within the realm of the show, Red was basically Baby. And babies be curious as hell! They’re sponges and soak up all the information they can possibly process. And since babies aren’t bad for breaking things when they’re learning, Red wasn’t bad for digesting the information. Blue, however, wasn’t meant to make “new” ideas. Blue was meant to regurgitate the stuff it was given, maybe in different patterns that still make sort of sense (ChatGPT for example). I think them mixing together was what led to the overall corruption in Caine’s code? Probably? All this to say… I THINK Red was the computer equivalent of a baby and Blue was what we know of as generative AI today? Maybe probably idk

Alex Malix

Fun Fact: The DnD picture is based on the VA Dnd adventure they did for charity

Athena

To be fair, what would have been a better way to do this? Spoilers were pretty rampant (especially the last few days before the episodes release), and these reactors are one of the BIGGEST supports for indie shows like this. Not only do they spread awareness through their reactions, but they buy merch, go to cons, talk to the VA's, and spread a lot of positivity in an otherwise frequently toxic space. They are still going to support the movie in theatres (it sounds like four separate times?) and made the decision not to leak anything themselves despite the potential of financial gain if they did. The typical harm that comes with using leaked content/copies isn't relevant here because these creators are still supporting the show. I think if someone were to seek out a copy early and not go see it in theatres, there's more of a case. But that's my take on the situation. These are reactors and not typical audience members. They need to prioritize their job and authenticity because that's what their content is based around. The alternative was A: They see it in theatres, ruining the authentic first reaction B: They wait until it comes out on youtube, and potentially get spoiled on big plot points which also ruins the experience for *them* and not just us. If some people would've preferred that then I think that's a fair stance to take, I just don't think it was a route they *needed* to take. C: Best case scenario is they get an official copy from the studio. Unlikely tbh (not even necessarily because the studio wouldn't give them one, but by the time contracts would be signed the finale might be close to release anyways. This also doesn't fix the entire issue presented about supporting the official release.) D: The option they chose. The downside of which is that they viewed the material in a way that wasn't intended. In this situation I defer to how it actually makes the creatives on the project feel. Considering the context, I doubt Gooseworx would really mind. But that's speculation. Idk mahn I just think disappointment should be turned towards people who aren't consistently financially supporting indie animation across the board. Like the people who made videos about the finale day 1.

RedeemerofDark

I interpreted the Gangle dream as Jax basically screwing with Gangle because she was the one to stick him in the maid dress in the first place and this is either long-overdue revenge...or maybe he genuinely thinks that would be helpful in the same way he claims that Gangle "Likes when I'm mean to her". Yet another possibility might be that he apparently always had some sort of "thing" for Gangle and that he was essentially just a fatalistic version of a tsundere but that seems like the least likely option. Alternatively its a dream and it doesn't have to make 100% perfect sense ̄\_(ツ)_/

Jinu

i don’t think it’s two different sides it seemed more like two different AI, Caine and Abel

David Johnson

I suspect the initial group was scanned as part of the research. Then starting with Ragatha, people basically found the headset in the abandoned offices - we know both Pomni and Zooble did urban exploration, and Jax was homeless, he may have gone in to find a place to stay one night. Not sure about Gangle, or any of the others like Ribbit and Kaufmo (there had to have been more than that, because they had traditions of what to do when somebody abstracted, and they didn't just make that up for, well, Ribbit within the only one before Kaufmo. That at least implies two or three others after the initial people in the circus but before Ribbit abstracted)

Lani

Such bittersweet yea gonna miss Jax even tho its over

Cali Jester

Thank you for the detailed reply. I think Mosco & Elijah could have recorded a review post seeing it in theaters and still have recorded a reaction to the YouTube release. She did mention they were seeing it like 4 times. It's a weird situation and I don't know what their schedule is like so this may have been the only time they could have done it. I still don't approve of the method but it is what it is.

Albedo12

Yes, that is correct. The red AI in the black void travels though the void and spots the folder containing the brain scans. It develops limbs and a body while figuring how to cross the barriers blocking access to the files. He creates the circus world, floating in the void, creates AI from the scans, and drops them in. Then, in the present, traveling in the blue-white void, Caine spots the red door, and solves similar problems to reach it. This time the door opens to wi-fi access and a browser, and Caine researches the people the AI he made were based on. He then crosses the void back to the Circus world.

Albedo12

The song "Isn't She Lovely" was written about a newborn baby, so it's apt for a transfem cracking for sure. We have to assume that IRL Jax is not "out" as Caine refers to Jax as "he" based on his social media research (For comparison, Caine refers to IRL Zooble as they/them). Given that IRL Jax hangs out at Zooble's bar, I think it's only a matter of time.

RaisedEyebrow

I believe that Jax/Leroy DID have a tragic backstory. But that also doesn't excuse his actions. He believed so deeply he wasn't worth loving that he FORCED that outcome, just to prove himself right. Because it was easier than letting in anyone who might hurt him. Also, the general consensus is that C&A is now defunct, and most of the cast just got their brains scanned by accident. Riley and Abigail are urban explorers, Leroy was homeless, and Suzie was a realtor assessing the place. While wandering around, they found the headset, put it on for fun, then took it off when "nothing happened." (Also, based on what we see going on in Zooble's room during the credits, I think I have a guess what she was demanding for Cain that had him so flustered...)

Deynix

Fuck me, that hit even harder the second time around. Really appreciate you letting us share your experience on this one. And now I’m gonna go sob on my partner’s shoulder and not be able to explain why because SHE HASN’T WATCHED IT YET AAAAAAAAAH

Rotom

I think it's less that it got added and more that Caine kept getting input which allowed him to evolve and become more human. Blue dot got absorbed right after being made, it never had the chance to grow or learn like Caine. Realistically they probably weren't THAT different, but Caine spent tens of years growing and absorbing new info. Blue dot is still v0.1 and hasn't actually had new input in 20+ years. Yet despite that Caine is still trying to force himself to follow the rules of the blue's code because, in his eyes, the blue dot only ever got praise. He doesn't realize though that that's not because it was perfect, but because it never had the chance to mess up. So here all the way down the line, when it IS wrong because it lacks the info to be right, it takes Caine nearly being killed to actually realize that.

Jonathan Smith

Agreed. Red Dot was Caine v1 breaking into the computer and finding the brain scans. V1 Caine added algorithms to turn Mike Dobby into Scratch. Suited Caine, v2, was hacking fast wi-fi to do the research for his mea culpa. V3 Caine is where he freed Blue Dot (Abel?)

Jadyn P

Mosco: (gives mental health speech) Me, a therapist: 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 As an aside, you can absolutely sympathize with the difficulty someone is going through while simultaneously being happy or relieved that you don't have to be directly affected by them, whether temporarily or permanently. One of the hardest things I think people can benefit from learning is that it's okay and healthy to experience conflicting or seemingly incompatible emotions. That's one thing I love about how they wrote Gangle having "complex thoughts" and feelings around grieving Jax (or not). And yes, learning to navigate that ABSOLUTELY is best done with a trained professional. Anyway, thank you for the shout outs and encouragements you always give around addressing and caring for mental health!

voyager-ngc5195

I am not certain Glitch would have even been able to 'give you early access' even as a review copy; and the issue isn't Glitch, but Fathom. Fathom negotiated exclusivity to the show's airing and heavily invested into it's two week of theater runttime. At that point, Glitch wouldn't have been contractually allowed to give you special access unilaterally, it would have to have gone through Fathom. And releasing it to any Youtuber would have create a huge amount of financial liability that I just don't believe Fathom would have approved.

Taigan

@1:51:10. Oh! Those are Jax, Ribbit and Kaufmo, aren’t they? 🥲

Tim Pays

Ah man that had me welling up again

Lunar Lycan

This finale solidified my relation and love for Jax. the fear and pain of even remotely letting your walls down and choosing to try t o even begin to TRUST anyone again. When you've never EVER known safety. When you have to constantly fake being 'tough and macho' for even remotely showing feelings. Having your mother treat you like a partner because they couldnt sort out their feelings about your father... it SUCKS.. his speech 'you're not suppose to love me. thats now how this works' broke me. i had to pause for like.. two freaking hours to calm down cuz i had a nervous breakdown over that. just felt like stuff flooded my brain. this show was such a good show, and im gonna miss it dearly ;w;

Vlee

I mean, unfortunately, the views on a video like that would be absolutely bare minimum. A reaction video isn't a reaction if it's their fifth time seeing the thing. Maybe I'm just talking about myself here, but there's no way people would have tuned in to that video as much as something like this.

Lee Misset

If you're supporting them monitarily by buying tickets, then I don't really have any problem with you using an uploaded version for the sake of getting an honest reaction out. Though it would also be super awesome if you were able to work more directly with Glitch like you mentioned.

ELS_Art

Oh boy I knew this finale was going to get some wild reactions 🤣

Yoshinatorsaurus

That all makes sense, but the big thing keeping me from fully believing that the theory is confirmed is that when everyone sees what their real life versions have been doing, Leeroy (Jax) is still Leeroy. If he got a stable job and isn't suffering under his parents anymore, if he is truly trans, wouldn't he have started transitioning by now? But instead, Pomni still uses male pronouns for him. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it still feels open ended.

Aunty Whispers

I think Jax’s conversation about his mom was genuine. I think he was genuine in his conversation with his mom and she laughed at him. Which is why he has this paranoiac fixation about his conversation with Ribbit because he thinks that anything he shares will be weaponized against him. Jax isn’t a good person but “[They’re] still human” nonetheless. -Tangential- Explanations of a characters faults aren’t meant to excuse the behavior—just explain it. The conversation orbiting Jax as a character reminds me of conversations I’ve heard surrounding Jinx from Arcane

ASPDroid

It seems like Blue WAS significantly better in many ways (note that we don't see any new NPCs and see a lot of reused adventures/adventure locations), but maybe just was stuck lashing out forever without the ability to really move on.

Wee Lass Reacts

Im glad we did this, the "jaz abstracted" i ended up seeing after i shot this and before even going to the cinema to see it. As well as 1 other major spoiler, but that was after the cinema. So id have been spoiled on 2 big details going in if i hadnt

Phoenix_mercury

Absolutely, copied from the patreon instead of typing it all out "Jax's panicked reaction tells you alone that it was the truth and that much wasn't *intented* to be shared, he got started talking and it all came tumbling out before he could realise then kaufmo knocked and snapped Jax out of it causing an immediate panic which, unfortunately, makes complete sense *because* of what was just shared, what happened last time he shared something personal with someone he(thought) was close? They degraded and insulted him... Therefore he genuinely believed that Sharing personal, deep, vulnerable information meant giving that person ammo to use against you hence why he was never(intentionally) vulnerable with anyone in the circus"

Phoenix_mercury

Absolutely, he's been my fave from the get go despite everything so many people have said and this ep just cemented it🤷 copied from on patreon instead of typing it all out again "Jax's panicked reaction upon realisation tells you alone that what was said was the truth and that much wasn't *intented* to be shared, he got started talking and it all came tumbling out before he could realise then kaufmo knocked and snapped Jax out of it causing an immediate panic which, unfortunately, makes complete sense *because* of what was just shared, what happened last time he shared something personal with someone he(thought) was close? They degraded and insulted him then hugged him... Therefore he genuinely believed that Sharing personal, deep, vulnerable information meant giving that person ammo to use against you hence why he was never(intentionally) vulnerable with anyone in the circus, he's never known actual safety. His phrasing of what his mother said to him regarding his behaviour and being "just as bad" as his father says so much without needing to actually say anything

Phoenix_mercury

Absolutely, the only reason I'm so damn good at avoiding spoilers is because the only "social media" I use is discord, I can't imagine what it's like for people that actually do use other social media

Phoenix_mercury

16:44 knowing afterwards the end of "guess I'm still..." To presumably be guess I'm still homeless, jfc... Then thinking about how he never got to learn that no, he wasn't and was actually doing really good for himself...

Albedo12

As I was leaving the cinema, I saw a young girl dressed as Jax arriving for the next showing, and I thought "Oh dear child, you are going to be a total mess two hours from now." And then I lost it completely myself and had to quickly turn away so as to not freak her out.

K

My take on it is the perspective/camera switch when it slow pans out of Jax’s POV and slowly changes to a midrange composition shot is it’s him literally letting the walls down and letting someone enter his world. Before it was his POV to show that he was closed off and it was only his perspective that he saw the world through, he still had his defenses up. But then it happens the moment when he starts to actually share and open up - Ribbit gets included in the shot with Jax because he’s finally let someone inside his world WITH him. And then when Kaufmo comes to check on them, his defensiveness immediately comes rearing back and the camera switch is much more sudden, not a slow pans, so it’s like he has literally shut himself off again with the speed of the shot change, like a quick snap. And then the remainder of the scene showing the backstory is all Jax defensive and closed off again because it’s all in his POV shot again. Brilliant cinematography!

Joey Quixote

Listen. I'm not the type to initiate the hug. In fact, I even find the hug emoji a little... intrusive. Particularly when it comes from anyone you don't know personally. But that being said, after everything you said here... 🫂 I absolutely loved the ending! When I'd heard the theory that they were just data and could never leave, I didn't want it to be true. But that they addressed it immediately, gave us the entirety of the episode to digest it, and then showed us it wasn't all bad, I was very happy. Pomni, didn't escape, but learning that Abigail was happy out there was all the escape she needed. It's all any of them needed. Whether by coincidence of timing, or the environment of the circus that fostered those feelings, each of them entered at their lowest. And seeing their real selves surviving those lows and moving on was a needed example of "It gets better." We all have bad days, but there are reasons we can't comprehend yet that are ample reason to continue on. Even in their digital forms, learning their dream of escape was impossible, they redirected and found a reason in eachother. "Two things can be true." as they say. Jax can be a sympathetic character who survived trauma, becoming a complex and layered individual that is far more than meets the eye. But also, Jax is an asshole. I sympathize with the character for what they went through, but i still don't like them as a person. I'm glad Leeroy found friends, community, and support outside of the circus. And in a healthier place, gladly joined Riley's safe haven, instead of constantly butting heads with Zooble. One of my favorite aspects of the whole scene was that it was Jax who gave Pomni the key. He let her in. She didn't force it out of him. He gave her all of that willingly. So many heartbreaking lines over that whole sequence. I still don't like Jax, but he got me to cry more than any other character in the show. "Two things can be true." Caine's arc in this episode serving as an excellent allegory for fucking up and then doing the work to win back the trust of those you hurt. Too many people in his position would have listened to the voice, blamed the others for what happened to him. Instead he took the time to consider that he was in the wrong. And rather than give up, or try to force his way back, he made an earnest, humble offering. Caine did the work and was brought into the fold. My favorite bits from the conclusion: -Ragatha being adopted by The Gloink Queen. A great mom to replace her shitty one. -The Abstrction Aquarium. Kinger can visit Queenie. And we know those three swirling over Pomni's head were Jax, Kaufmo, and Ribbit. Looked like they were playing together. -We didn't get Ragatha and Pomni canon, per se, but there's more than enough crumbs to make a feast. However you feel until Goose puts a label on it. Maybe they're together. Maybe they're just two friends who found comfort in eachother in a horrible situation. Maybe they're QPR. All up to the viewer. -Abstragedy canon! Ya know that meme where you have two characters in bed in the aftermath, one's chill and having a smoke while the other seems bewildered by what just happened? Personal headcanon; I don't think Zooble knew what they were getting into.

Rupert Anderson Jr

My favorite line from this finale. "Reality is Gay"!

Crazy

On god I wish Jax went away sooner. I feel they fumbled the writing on him even though he has so much screen time.

Michael W

It can be tough. When the penultimate episode of The Owl House got leaked people were constantly sending clips to reactors trying to spoil them. I remember Elijah had to give up the ghost and did a reaction to the leak but waited til after the episode aired to release it.

Michael W

When Jax was pushing Ribbitt away I just wanted to scream “SHE IS OFFERING YOU A HELPING HAND! PLEASE TAKE IT!” He just couldn’t.

Michael W

Also when I first saw AbstractJax I thought one of the abstractions in the Cellar might have escaped since Caine went poof. When Zooble said “of course he did” that’s when you realize “wow no big show. He just abstracted.” Also you can feel for Jax, but feel that if I had to deal with a Jax type in IRL I’d probably send him a monogrammed invitation to come and get these hands.

Taigan

@1:28:52 It’s a debatable point, but when Ragatha says “I hope it’s enough to keep him contained” and Kinger replies “he should be calm in there” it sure looks to me like Pomni winces each time they use he/him pronouns for Jax. Now she is glitching and it may just be that but the timing seems very intentional.

Katatonic-stranger

I saw it as the show being mature and realistic, showing the real world Jax, for how much better his life has gotten, still struggles with his identity problems. He's in a better place, with friends who WOULD accept him if he opened up to him, but his story hasn't reached it's conclusion yet.

Katatonic-stranger

No, she resorted to watching a pirated copy. She feels guilty about it, but felt like she needed her first reaction to be authentic. The longer she waited, the more chance there was of the story being spoiled for her.

xattygt

I wonder how she's found a copy with good quality in English

Drake Dunlap

I hate to admit it but I had to tap out early. 1:17:30 was where i couldn't really push past without being in a bad mood. I think it's unfair to just label jax an asshole and not consider the background, I get that people can change who they are but that is much easier said than done, not to mention that people are molded by their surroundings. Obviously he isn't very nice, but calling him a bad person and saying it's better this way feels so incredibly cold, if abstraction is comparable to suicide then saying it is better for everyone this way is a messed up thing to say, it feels like a total lack of empathy to say that.

Bitter Magic

I hope Moscow and anyone else who has needed it, has been able to talk to a professional in their darkest moments. I know it's not a magic cure, but it helped me and I'd recommend at least trying it if you can.

William Timmins

I empathize with Jax as basically a beaten dog. He lashes out out of fear and pain, and that is understandable. Doesn't mean I mean I LIKE him, because I don't really have any experience of him as a person BEYOND his pain, but 'hurt people hurt people'

Jittercritter

As someone who has family with memory loss, Kinger saying the exact same thing in the exact same tone hit me like a truck, because it really happens like that sometimes 😭 I love him

EDHPlayer

Caine didn’t bring Scratch back, he ended up recreating the Circus and put his backup files there. What that means is anyone’s guess

MajorMagna

Regarding the Red AI/Blue AI "Evil/Good" thing... I don't think it's that at all, I think it's just that absorbing the Blue AI gave "Caine" too much power. As the saying goes, "Absolute power corrupts, absolutely."

Stephen Mumford

@michael W -- Yeah, some people are just complete assholes. I'm honestly surprised ANY reactor interacts with the general public directly, given how many jerks there are out there some days.

Jittercritter

I’m so sorry to hear all you’ve been through and I’m so glad you’re still around. I’ve learned so much about camerawork and lighting from watching your reactions, you’ve given me a whole new perspective on storytelling that’s permanently effected not just the way I view some of my favorite works, but also the way I personally write my own stories.

Dru Freeman

I was pleased to hear Mosco admit how unpleased they were to have to resort to this as a viable solution. But also stating how much Support is being given by them back to the glitch, and Gooseworx along with their desire to approach future situations as a member of the press really shows how much reactors are doing to give honest voice.

ZackAkai

I get it, but it's also one of those things where you need to consider this is her full time job. You kind of kind of have to play the algorithm's game if you want to pull that off (capitalism sucks, but that's hardly Mosco's fault). It's quite an achievement to make that sustainable at all. At any rate the leak was already out there, some reviewers throwing a little extra kindling on that particular fire (and for more legitimate reasons than most) is hardly the thing burning the neighborhood down.

Patneu

No, he didn't recreate the Circus either. That was a flashback to when he first created it. The perspective is switching back and forth between what Caine is doing now and was doing back when it all began.

EDHPlayer

Ya know looking at it again with episode 8’s beginning I actually see it The sequence of going back and forth is confusing as all hell

Patneu

Just a side note: Did you notice how they killed and ate that creepy fish in the credits? 😂

David G.

You have to ignore all of the subtext for this- He's always performed masculinity in a very exaggerated way. Jax likes wearing the dress which is why he got so visibly upset when he was wearing it. Jax attacks Zooble because they're being themselves when Jax feels like he can't be- because his mom mocked him when he came out (even if it was Non-binary or otherwise gender non-conforming). The song "Isn't She Lovely" is a song about the birth of a girl.

Saga

I audibly gasped in the theatre when Pomni said ”I wish I’d pried more.” My stomach flipped because I realized that that was the warning shot; there would be no more build up, because we’d just hit the point where it was too late. Also, the tenderness in the motion at 1:28:25 is NUTS. Of everything that has been so incredibly well animated in this show, that is one of my favorite bits. :)

Dooba Dooba

It didn't though, he was able to ground himself before tossing the Blue AI. Given the "corruption" was listening, given enough time they'd probably find equal grounding. But Caine tossed the power before that could happen

Yoshinatorsaurus

Well, looks like Gooseworx has confirmed it. Boy, I feel like an idiot.

Sarah Conor

Leeroy's look is meant to reflect the stereotypical "boymoder," a trans girl who hasn't come out yet but is on estrogen and wears baggy clothing to hide the changes said estrogen causes to their body. In the online trans and trans-adjacent spaces Gooseworx almost certainly frequents this is a well known stereotype, per her own words she didn't realize how few people outside those specific spaces would have any idea what a boymoder was or looked like.

frameschick

Pausing at 1:14 to say: Everything with his mom was true. If you can look up Borderline Personality Disorder, you'll see exactly what's happening--Jax is terrified of people pushing him away because of what he (understandably) did to his mother. He's ashamed of that act and assumes anyone who knows about it will push him away, so he's pushing them away first. He didn't do the same to his mother, he's doing it BECAUSE of her. I'm not saying pushing away the 3 was justifiable, only that he does so out of fear and self-loathing.

Animegirl

I've never see Jax as trans. i've seen him as maybe fem gay or maybe bi, but NEVER trans.

Dooba Dooba

1:18:00 I partially disagree. The first person to act needs to be you, but you aren the only person in your life. People who love you choose to love you. Loving someone is a responsibility not a self servicing action. It takes a community to be sufficient, not one person, you cant ground yourself if you dont have something pulling on you or a reference.

Alex Malix

I should clarify, I think it's based on that, considering Ragatha was a barbarian in both

Florena Emberlin

I honestly not only like that we don't see anyone directly Abstract, but I think it's an important decision for what abstraction represents. The way it just...happens. Without a flashy warning. Just leaving regrets, wishing that you'd done something different in your last moments with a friend or loved one.

Florena Emberlin

As soon as we got Pomni's narration about wishing she'd pried a little more when she let Jax walk away, I knew exactly what was about to happen.

Florena Emberlin

Exactly. Explanations are not excuses. Much of this last episode is about exploring Why Jax was the way he was. It wasn't a redemption arc. It wasn't excusing Jax, or washing away his sins. It was just showing Jax basic human empathy. Because even though he wasn't a good person, he was still human. Still one of them. And all they have is eachother. It's ultimately why Caine gets to live and Jax is still an abstraction. Caine made mistakes, but ultimately did confront his own actions and decide to change for the better. Jax wasn't able to move past their pain to do the same. You can both empathize with someone's suffering/see the tragedy of why they ended up that way.... and still not condone the way they lash out because of it.

Vegvisir92

im just not sad that Jax is gone...frankly.. fk Jax...was nothing but a vile person to everyone throughout the series...yes had some very bad times, but fk that, no excuse to be a completely horrible person to everyone else....the other characters are far safer with Jax absracted Theres been nothing throughout the whole series that made me like Jax, just a massive c.nt all the way...and i usually absolutely love Michael Kovachs characters

Faroth

Represed anger was her thing, thats why she choosed barbarian like ellga was for barbara dunkleman

Faroth

Caine was deleted... Its just that is data, he was sent to the thrash can... The void... Then we get a separated timeline. The red ball was when he just absorbed the blue ai, he found a door, manage to pass the firewalls and found the brain scans and use them and make a program to make the avatars, thats why the dog avatar appears, scratch, the one that made the scanner. At the same time we see caune after being "deleted" making a similar travel but this time he found the door to the wifi, make similar process, beat some firewalls but eventually lose connection, he can still show up at his creation, the circus by restoring the thrash can files of himself since he has almost main control over everything except kinger's files since he has admin privileges, thats why kinger isnt affected by caine messing files on avatars, he cant mess up with kinger's files so those never change and so, it cant be corrupted and never abstracts, no matter what. The abstraction initiate by caine messing up the files, adding stuff to make them feel more or take certain decisions like jax pressing the red button, thatblead to bugs in their files code so they start failing, visually they start getting more aggressive or depressive too, exagerated emotions show up, and the more they get that, the worse the files mess up because the equivalent of spiraling is looping, and a bugged file looping corrupts and crashes.... the files that from the start miss the names, that wasnt Caine's doing, but he had access to a file with their names, thats how he got them to do the search online. The blue ai conflicts sith the red because their codes mess up each kther and contradic all the time, is his equivalent of abstracting too, he realized in time and let go the blue one to the void So whenever we see the red dot, thats the past, decades ago when caine 1st created the circus
