I know you have a better grasp on biology and medical stuff so hopefully you find this interesting. Tbere is a point where a population cannot repopulate itself. If it gets too small a species just dies off as the incest will cause the entire species to die off in a few generations. In humans its estimated in theory that 80 to 160 unrelated people with extremely careful monitoring can survive. So yea, in real world science 50 viltrimites left is an extinction level event.

I feel like Oliver's respone was a trauma response. It may look stoic but some people respond to things differently. A freeze or distatchment type response does happen

I think you missed it but it was Machine Head who disabled the prison's anti-teleportation field that allowed Isotope to break in. As far as why Titan left Machine Head in charge of the order, I would assume Titan would not want to be in the top position in the order since that would be extremely dangerous on his end, and whilst he is smarter than he looks he doesn't have powers on the level of someone like Mr. Liu that would protect him and his family. Like he keeps saying he 'doesn't want the heat', he wants to do things in such a way that even if he breaks some laws he doesn't do anything that would attract conflict from either the government or the order.

This is one of the weaker episodes but ut does set up alot of things for the future. The next 3 episodes are incredible though

Personally, I'm not inclined to give Multi-Paul much credit for his perspective. He's a cynical asshole who is rolling out the tired "both sides are the same" argument because it lets him avoid responsibility for his own choices. After all, if the GDA is morally no better than the Order, then why not work for the side that pays more and lets him hurt people to vent out his childhood traumas? Nothing matters, so he can do whatever he wants and no one can judge him for it. In reality, the bullshit he tried to spin about the GDA and the Order being the same about controlling people they find useful is just him grasping at straws to get under his sister's skin. We've seen multiple times that heroes are able to leave the Guardians peacefully- the Immortal was allowed to step away when he was grieving over Kate (even if Cecil did try to pressure him into staying, he ultimately relented), and half the Guardians left in protest over the incident with Invincible without being jailed or executed. Only the Order threatens to kill people and their loved ones if they try to leave. Cecil and the GDA do get up to a lot of shady stuff in the name of the greater good (which unfortunately seems to be necessary more often than not given how much the odds seem to be stacked against the people of Earth in this universe), but it does not compare to what Paul does or his employers.

A little note on this episode, if you didn't noticed, in the Order members we see at the end, there's a red hair woman. She was the girlfriend of WarWoman, we saw her briefly in the first episode. Seems what happened there was her vilain origin story

Hope you enjoyed the WARM-UP section of the season. Bullies are inevitable, so is their comeuppance. Mine's in prison now 😝 The thing about Kate and Paul, their power is technically a curse. One of their ancestors was cursed to have his family expand so much it'd ruin them

If titan took over then he either needs to change how the international crime league works and how people in every city they are in does things or he apart of crime in ways he didnt want to..and he wouldnt be as respected as machine head who the other heads are familiar with. Someoje will come for his crown quick Machine head knows how the game works He been trying to get that spot and made the relationships needed .

DiamondDawg

This and episode 3 are like the chill eps of this season. Get ready cause these last 3 eps are pretty heavy.

It’s been a while since I’ve read the comics, and the show doesn’t mention it at all, but I believe one of the reasons Kate and Paul’s father went insane was because their mother died during/shortly after childbirth, so not only was he a single father to two children, but both of those children could also duplicate themselves. At some point it must’ve just been too much to handle, and that was it.

Just out here waiting for EP 3-7 and 3-8

Titan not taking over the Order is basically like a rich person who decides, "Hey, maybe I don't need ALL the money." Titan just wanted to improve life for his family and community, not take over the world. He didn't want to do anything that would put any more heat on him such as dealing with an organization that likely makes enemies all around the world. So long as he has enough to take care of his family and home, that's good enough; he doesn't want anything more.

Marion Ette

Presumably, with careful interbreeding with a similar enough species, they can rebuild the community. Realistically, though, it'll involve assimilating enough into that species culture to destroy the old culture by adapting it into the larger culture as a sub-community, so the Viltrumites as they were are basically genocided (a good thing, honestly, since they were a fascistic culture of imperialistic exploitation and cruelty. Remember the purple aliens that shot lasers at Allen the Alien in the Viltrumite prison? They are never explicit in stating it, but those are slaves. Remember when one was executed for showing weakness while moving a box, or when all the ones on Viltrum who witnessed the Scourge Virus were purged?

Suplee215

Yea. I meant without aother species to breed with. Just themselves 50 will doom most mammalian species in real life. The number does change a lot depending on exact species. But yea the, and just spoiler warning just in case, the scourge virus did a number. And probably because the purge they had earlier made them much more susceptible to it. Killing off half the population is a good way to get rid of immune resistence in a population

Geass

I don't know how Machine Head got Battle Beast to work for him. Convincing him to do so is relatively easy; it is getting in contact with him that's the hard part. He's an alien who travels the universe. He lost interest and left after taking down the strongest guys.

miglove

He indeed fought a dragon

Crusader688

Think she would buy it if we told Wee Lass that the last two episodes are meant to be watched back-to-back? The wait between them is going to be hard.

EDHPlayer

I mean, they are. Episode 8 picks up right where episode 7 left off. It’s been that way since season 1

Rachel Mae

not the first time we've seen the dragon, he makes a cameo in s1 while Nolen and Debbie are on a date lol

Nightowl

“Catholic or Christian?” is the most Protestant thing I’ve ever heard. 😆

ChristianK

The next 3 episodes are peak invincible

REDE

Scott isn't a hero, Not by a long shot bruh

REDE

No it absolutely wasn't. He not only had zero hesitation or second thoughts during the Mauler's execution. But also tried to mask the apathy he had immediately once he realized the Guardians saw what he did. Reverting instantly from "...That's what happens when you're a bad guy." to "I-It was an accident." Then immediately back to his Apathetic and Nihilistic way of thinking when It's just him and Mark. This to me says that he is internally conflicted, wanting to both live up to his brother and mother (Debbie's) expectations while also keeping his own belief that evil should be stopped no matter what likely due to him witnessing Angstrom's attack on Debbie.

REDE

"You were given orders, You were given time..."

Suplee215

That 0 hesitation is the detachment I am talking about. He didnt think about it. He didnt analyze. He just did it. Basjcally dissociated. Then after the fact he tried to justify it several ways. Apathy can be a trauma response.

Shaky Tail Studios

Low key that dragon bastard could probably hang with Omni-Man

The sheer agony you experienced when you realized Paul's plan

I think most families are less than 50 people

It kinda feels like Titan is the hidden goat in this series. They make it clear that he EARNS respect, helps his community, and tries his best not to do dirty. He's just trying to protect the little paradise he made for everybody including his family. It feels weird having Eve be the deciding factor when she's never met Titan and has no idea what's going on. I kinda wish Titan offered to have Mark looked over by his people since he now knows he doesn't work for the GDA anymore (not that I think Mark would let him). He's not overly ambitious. His motives never shifted. Instead, Mark with Eve's input didn't bother to even take Titan's warning into account til it was too late. And Titan had to make a plan with Machine Head, whose tyranny he wanted to escape to begin with. The story really never gave us a reason not trust Titan. I feel like this episode gives more credence to Mark's on unyielding "higher than thou" attitude. More so than Cecil wasting resources just to flex on Mark and chase him down after telling him to leave. Cecil's argument really fell apart in my opinion when he stopped using the reason or compromise he was "promoting".
