I mean she is naked, they all are naked like 90% of the time. The fact that they wear closes like 10% of the time just makes it weird. Maybe they are all just nudists. This is one of those "probably best not to think about it too hard" things.

Considering the kind of medieval modern hybrid society here it seems possible as town founders and initially sparking the local economy the apples may be local nobility in this world. Also as an aside the opening photograph bugs me. Spike isn't in it. That seems unfair.

I do really like the detail that *only* Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are being stereotypically annoying here, everyone else in Ponyville really doesn't mind because they actually like Granny Smith

When you mentioned spending the day before with your granny, and saying you needed this without even knowing what episode was in store... Maybe the universe lined up just a little for you when you needed it. "My granny is super special! I just forgot that for a little while..." Also hits home for me. My grandmother (who has sadly been gone for over a decade and a half now) didn't have dementia, but she did have several strokes and the result was very dementia-like. So I understand the struggle, of watching someone you love so much who isn't quite all there anymore. Side note, what a heckuva followup to prove that Earth ponies have their own, more subtle magic. I don't think Pegasi or Unicorns would be able to grow zap apple trees.

Yet another lore dump! And an important one since Ponyville is (to borrow from a certain anime) our Morioh! Its where everything happens, it's where our Mane Six officially bonded and became national heroes, and its existence is responsible for a lot of things happening both for better and worse! Filthy Rich is a fun character, an actually likeable rich character in a cartoon? Practically unheard of! Its just a shame that as far as I recall he isn't used much for whatever reason.

Yeah, Filthy Rich knows the importance of maintaining good relationships with those you do business with and the respect they deserve. A shame the real world has forgotten that for the sake of profit.

The way Tabitha St. Germain (Granny Smith's voice actress) says "As if the beauty of that city wasn't enough, suddeny SHE appeared" always has me side eyeing Granny. Like, girl did you have dreams of marrying royalty? Doesn't help that it's pretty much the same scenario and inflections as when Tabitha reads the line for Rarity in Ticket Master about meeting Prince Blueblood. End of the day though, I'm down for some Granny Smith/Celestia as former partners theories

Sorry to hear about your Gran being in the hospital. I’ve only had a little experience with a relative with Alzheimer’s/Dementia. It was with my Great Aunt whose house I spent a lot of time at as a kid. When my family and I moved to a different State, we didn’t see her for a while and then I saw her again at a family reunion and she didn’t know who I was. It was painful and sad and I really didn’t know how to handle it and kind of gave up after an attempt at jogging her memory. That was the last time I saw her before she died. My biggest regret is how as I got older I wanted to spend less time with my Grandparents ((on my Mother’s side). As they got older my Grandmother became increasingly negative and judgmental (for lack of a better word) and my Grandfather became more openly racist. I really hate it because I loved them both and their home was like a second home to me. It’s a regret I have that springs to mind from time to time whenever I think about them and this reaction caught me during one of those times.

I'm so sorry you're going through a tough time regarding your grandmother. I know what that's like. One of my grandmothers started having memory issues before she died. I miss her a lot. I miss all my grandparents. Sorry. Don't mean to trauma dump. I love Granny Smith so much. She's definitely one of my favorite side characters. I just wanna give her a hug!

Something curious that happened to me, I was able to see MLP while it was on tv, and I though I've seen every episode and one day, when season 4 was on emission (I saw it on Dailymotion, no longer on tv) I turned towards the tv and saw fng rainbow apples on a tree and was shocked out of my mind, because it was something new and I though I was caught up. Turns out this was the only episode I never caught on tv.

Given my headcanon that Celestia knew (through prophecy or time travel or whatever) that filly Rainbow Dash's rainboom was a sign of the new wielders of the Elements of Harmony had appeared (and while she couldn't MAKE them become friends, she did set it up so that they'd all be in the right place at the right time), I guess this means she also made sure Ponyville existed at all by sending the Apple family there.

When you said you love Granny Smith a few episodes ago, I knew immediately you'd ADORE this episode. It gives her so much depth, and I love the lesson about being proud of your family, no matter their quirks. Also, the look back at the history of Ponyville was really cool.

Not even out of the intro, and already shipping AppleDash. Tisk tisk. I love the way they portray Filthy Rich vs Diamond Tiara. You're exactly right - Filthy Rich knows where his fortune comes from, and does seem to respect and appreciate the ponies he works with, whereas Diamond Tiara is a quintessential spoiled nepo baby. They do explore her character more later - I particularly liked when a spell from Zeccora makes her family swap withe Apple family, so she has to learn the importance of hard work and true friendship. She's never a good character, but she sorely needed redemption. Certainly, Apple Bloom needs a shield against her bullying!

*hugs* My own grandmother died almost 8 years ago, of an aggressive form of brain cancer. She was unable to talk for the last 2 weeks of her life, so I can definitely understand the struggle of having someone who's still technically alive, but not quite fully "there" anymore. The last words she ever said to me were "Don't go". Took me a while to forgive myself for leaving anyway. even if I had to.

I love that MLP doesn't always go for the stereotypical personalities, Filthy Rich and Fancy Pants you expect to be rude and arrogant but they both are just decent people but they still also fit into there roles of Business pony and Aristocrat as well
