At work and will watch later but that was a bad pun Mosco and you should feel bad....... (Stage whisper) keep it up!

Some Simp

This one of the episodes that covers a story that wasn't in the comics And it Fucking sucks

Adan Guzman

It’s not you. William’s has a different voice actor now and it’s very noticeable. Nolan: “Where’s William, William?”

Midnightroze

I may be the only person who loved this episode when it aired haha

Suplee215

Theres a lot i can say about the topics you bring up. I fully agree that "if you need religion to be a good person, you're a bad person on a leash". Human empathy and survival is more than enough to explain "where morality come from". Homo sapiens are a social species where cooperation is a huge component of survival just like all great apes. Even if you only care about yourself, the best way to survive in society is to make sure as many other people survive as possible and to be in others good graces. By donating to the food bank, you may benefit from a more stocked food bank in the future to piggy back on your example. But also being good and empathetic does induce a good feeling in most people. This idea that all humans are inherently bad as many religions teach is just stupid. Sure They have the capability for bad but studies on animals show that most animals and especially those closely related to humans will go out of their way to help others. Sorry for rant, just find this stuff interesting

Dustin Nelson

People really unfairly complain about this episode because they couldn't understand the purpose it serves in the story, so I really hope you're different as I start this one up.

Hardish

Straight filler for an 8 episode season is crazy

ross lingard

i like the episode it develops mark and makes him release he going down the wrong path but its still the worst episode of the show if every other episode is a 8 or higher this is 7 still good

Geo23

This episode's plotline is actually original to the show as the comic never had the chance to tell this story originally. This episode is considered the worst rated episode of the series so far. As far as the helmet joke, it's a meta joke about superhero media and how their helmets and masks do that.

L Frances

This episode gets such bad rap, but it's honestly one of the most fun of the show. In this season especially, we needed a silly aside about going to hell to save the devil.

Midnightroze

I agree! Its definitely the weakest episode of the season which still isn't bad. I love how it gave Mark a different perspective too.

Sterben

Can’t wait til next episode!

DiamondDawg

This ep is a story that wasn't in the comics. Robert wanted to make an issue on it but couldn't put it in but was able to put it in the show. This is often regarded the worst ep of the show by fans though some reactors did enjoy it too. I was a little worried about you getting to it but I'm glad you had a relatively good time. Buckle in cause the second half of S4 is bonkers.

Rixec2

I really don't get people's hate for this episode. It's great and gives us something to think about on what to do to be good even without reward or fear of damnation. And the helmet thing is making fun of how the MCU constantly does that as well. XD And regarding what you asked about being raised religiously... I'm Catholic. Have and always will be. And I'm male as well. And I hate how constantly people misuse my religion for their own ends. Don't get me wrong, I know we have a history of bad things, but a history of good as well. People are human and we all commit sin, just as Catholics do. The problem is so many get it in their head they're already perfect and saved as a result of just being so or simply want to use it as a smokescreen to do whatever they want that those of truly trying to practice what we preach get associated with them. I'm Catholic. My girlfriend is bisexual and agnostic. We're also in a polyamorous relationship where she has another boyfriend who's also a good friend of mine as a result. He's also queer. I have many gay and gender-nonconforming friends as a result. And never once have I ever thought of them as being sinful for being who they are. They aren't hurting anybody just by being gay or trans. And part of that is because of my faith. I actually look to understand the deeper meaning in God's word, and I see being prejudice against anyone - whether for race, gender, faith, LGBT, and so on - to be morally wrong. God and Jesus are loving and compassionate for all - so why can't we be the same? I've never pressured anyone to follow my faith but am always glad to talk about it if they are curious. And I enjoy learning about other faiths to see what common elements we have and what more we can learn from one another. I also believe, whether someone is religious or not, that God will allow the good into Heaven and send the evil to Hell. People tend to misuse the Bible. Things like "God made us in His image" or "man shall not lay with another man" while ignoring context. God makes us as we are, including how we might feel. Maybe someone's gay or trans because He made us that way. And from what I've researched, the original translation for the Bible includes things that didn't go to other languages. Like, "man shall not lay with another man" really comes out more as "man shall not lay with boy", referring to pedophilia rather than being gay. And there's a story where someone comes to asks Jesus to cure his servant, and his faith is so immense he knows Jesus can simply say the word and make it so without having to go there. And the original term for his servant refers to one that would also be a lover. And common sense to be good has always applied. It wasn't until Jesus gave his life that we were redeemed and saved, meaning before then we had to be good without the promise of something better. Jesus just finally gave us our redemption. Sadly, people have not been good about it. I am fully aware of all the bad people in the Church - whether for pedophilia, homophobia, transphobia, and more. I hate the people in government saying they're Catholic when they act as anything but. I use my faith as hope to keep improving myself and for something better after the end. But I face my fears of just... no longer existing when I die. That I'll never see anyone I love again. But I still want to keep being good as everyone deserves to be treated well. With how often people misuse my religion, it just makes it feel like I have to be quiet about my faith. You yourself just mentioned how devout men tend to have something to hide. It makes it easy to feel ashamed and judged even when I have never done anything of the sort. I'm thankful my girlfriend and everyone support my faith - my girlfriend even constantly bragging I'm what all Catholics should be. I don't think I'm as good as all that; there are plenty more before and currently who are better than me. I'm just trying my best to be good to all because I was inspired as such by my faith since I was a kid. So, yeah, that's my story.

ManOfStamp38

Proof that some things end up on the cutting room floor for a good reason.

Alexandru Ulesan

21:11 spoken like a true RWBY fan 1:07:26 poor William went trhough puberty in college 1:17:28 My guess it has something to do with Doc Seismic. He was using the same Magmanites as her to fight the heroes in s2 and s3

DieWinterkirsche

It´s a fun, light-hearted and chill episode... it´s basically the calm before the storm ^^

Androzani84

In terms of religion, I went to a C.E Primary School, and everyone there was pretty nice (at worst, I learned years later one of the teachers badmouthed me in private because I had a learning disability), before going to a school that, at most, did Christmas services at church. From what I've seen, there are good and bad people who believe in religion, or don't, some using it as a cheap way to curry favour (To quote a book I read, "Everyone loves a sinner who repents"). In general, I think who people are is determined by their circumstances. Talking about the episode, I started watching when I learned who Volcanikka's VA was, since I'd enjoyed her in Creature Commandoes and three Doctor Who episodes (technically, one DW episode, and two Torchwood episodes)

Elias Cristerna

Hearing Satan's voice hits different now after Bruce Campbell announced his 5 year cancer diagnosis. Which honestly is just the cherry on top of the shit sundae that was what felt like a week of losing icons.

Wealthy Toad

Look I hate to say it but the fact that they changed William's voice is so insufferable. Also his character feels 100% more just like a painfully gay stereotype best friend with no character I don't like it at all Being gay was a big part of his character now it feels like it's his only characteristic

Frazer fry

I'm a little conflicted on this episode, because on one hand I appreciate the new storyline and the way the episode gives some exposition as to why there are all sorts of weird supernatural phenomenon in this version of earth (albeit in a very tongue in cheek self aware way), but on the other hand a lot of the scenes in hell just take way too long without time between them to breath. The episode really needed a tighter pace or a more prevalent subplot. While I wouldn't call this episode bad, I do think either it or episode 2 of season 2 are the weakest overall of the show.

Elias Cristerna

12:56 The word your trying to say is "solder," but that only applies when fusing metal. "Cauterize" is what you do to flesh to stop bleeding with intesne heat/freezing.

Lando

Very similar to Mosco I grew up growing to Catholic schools until College but I also grew up in a Protestant house. For me I fortunately didn’t come across the same issues with religion many others have and to the contrary I got to see some of the good that can come from it. I have split from organized religion as I just have my own beliefs about it all. Just like everything there is potential for good and for bad. It’s very nuanced for me. In short organized religion is my main problem with faith.

JojoTrees

4:53 I mean prior to getting possessed he was one of the first humans to go to mars, so he had to be good for something lol

sophizilla

oh yeah they changed williams voice actor i feel like he sounds more like a stereotypical gay person now which i cant say i like ;-;

Vlee

im glad you didnt despise this episode like so many others do, its the weakest of the season, but still enjoyable to see mark get some venting done to a demon, but, y'know

MrBulldog714

Oh...this episode. See ya next week 🤪

Florena Emberlin

I can agree with that, on the lower end of the series but still good.

Florena Emberlin

Yeah for some reason a lot of people consider anything that isn't the Viltrimite plot to be filler.

Nightowl

Some great guest appearances in this one: Indira Varma as Volcanikka, Bruce Campbell as Satan, Kate Mulgrew as Domina. Concerning religions: they’re human inventions, so they can only repackage what are already existing human ideas and tendencies. If a god mandates or forbids something, it’s just his creators trying to spread their own preferences with some additional authority. Answers to the question of good and evil will always be a bit subjective but I believe that at its core most people will come to similar conclusions because we have similar brains giving most of us empathy, and certain behaviors are also just conducive to a functioning society.

Ko Villa

One of my favorite episodes!! To answer your question about the Helmet conversation: This never happened in the comics (because the Hell plotline is exclusive to the show), it's actually meant to poke fun at Marvel moviies where characters like Iron Man and Antman retract their helmets during battle when they talk, even though retracting the helmet is the last thing you want to do in the middle of a fight. Also it's an excuse to show the actor's face so they get more screen time I guess idk. Me personally? I loved that joke and I feel vindicated, there's no reason to remove the helmet just because your talking, especially when in the middle of a mission or a fight

Suplee215

I personally love this episode and I feel like the general dislike of it is due to modern audiences wanting all plot and nothing else. This episode is needed for pacing reasons In the season I think on top of character development. Going from last episode into the next episode will feel way too rushed. It needed a breather in hell. And mark needed to be in a "getting better" state to deal with his dad.

Neil Prospect

People hated this episode. I loved it. 1) I like filler episodes (as long as there's some overarching development for the characters) 2) It's hilarious (and with all the darkness Mark has been experiencing lately, much needed humor) 3) Demons battling in hell to Slayer? Count me in!

Baka7

My favorite thing is how when it aired I didn’t really have a problem with this episode, especially as a comic book reader enjoying the smallest amount of backstory for Volcanikka, but now that I need to wait a week for the episode five reaction I’m tearing my hair out wishing we could just skip this one completely lol.

Tgriff02

I really loved this episode and themes it works with. "Make Heaven on earth instead of imaginary one in sky"

Void Weaver

I was getting Gargoyles flashbacks when Darkblood was climbing up that building.

Shrikesthorn

This is probably the weakest episode of Invincible. But the rest of the season makes up for it tenfold.

xattygt

Personally i dont thing this is a bad episode. It definitely one of the weakest in the series but this is a show where nearly every episode is a 8 or higher. This episode was like a 7

xattygt

I felt the same way about the amphibia episode this week to. A peak amphibia and invincible reaction is litteraly right after these fillerish episodes. Wish we can just skip them lol

xattygt

I agree this is the weakest episode in invincible but while this is a 7/10 nearly the rest of the show is 8+

Some Simp

thats fair, i dont hate it but this is probably the most filler epsiode in the series so far, you can skip this ep and almost nothing is lost

Justin Payne

So the helmet thing: It's a bit about Marvel Movies. For a while all the super suits used to be real practical clothing, but when Nanotech started being more common lore-wise a bunch of the suits started just being CGI with helmets that automatically come off exactly like that whenever the director feels like it basically. It used to just be iron man and the occasional Guardians of the Galaxy character, but now everyone and their dog has a CGI helmet that comes off when they talk, so this is a bit about that

Sarah H

William is now voiced by Brandon Scott Jones, whom I love in Ghosts, but he just doesn't fit William's character. To adjust to the change, I pretended William's voice just matured a bit now that he's older, but the difference still gets me.

Larl Sagan

I wish you can post the next episode early, I can't wait!

DieWinterkirsche

To me this episode is important, because it shows Marks shift away from feeling guilty because he killed...

Radley Carter

I was literally typing "Does anyone else think when Satan got his crown back, he waspretty much the same character as Adam from Hasbin Hotel?". But as I was typing it, you started talking about Hasbin Hotel 🤣

Radley Carter

Allen: We've been hovering up here for over an hour, Nolan. Can't we just go down there and tell him now? Nolan: No! We have to wait for Mark to look up and see us in order to aura farm!

Suplee215

Major character development is lost

iCommentToPlay

The helmet section I sensed was a jab at modern superhero movies (MCU). So many times the hero character is constantly taking their helmet off during battle or important combat scenes to speak to one another, despite it being important armour.

Tristan N Milner

To answer Nolan: Away from the work, having a child of his own.

Tristan N Milner

The original writer and creator of the comic wanted to do this storyline. People are now bashing this episode due to 5's spaghetti and 7's fresh fade hype.

Julio Castillo

I guess i just don't understand Invincible fans.... To me this is the best episode of the Season, and one of the Best episodes of the show in general.

Sarah H

To me, it's not a bad episode; it just feels like it broke the flow, and I think that's the issue most people have with it if they're not part of the 'filler' crowd. Episode 3 had a lot going on: Eve is pregnant, the Flaxans are back, Robot and Monster Girl are stuck in another dimension, and we haven't checked in on Nolan and Allen in a while. When I first watched it, I expected this episode to pick up from any of the points I listed, but instead we went in a completely different direction, which threw me off because Darkblood's storyline didn't seem as important as everything else going on. However, this episode is important for Mark's growth, and it fits well at this point in the season because it had to come after he killed Rus and dealt with the mental and emotional consequences, which are different from those he faced when he thought he killed Angstrom and took a heavier toll.

Tyranniac

The sentiment that Gus' life didn't matter/he might as well be dead just because he was lonely and traumatized and wasn't "doing anything worthwhile" is pretty fucked up. I don't know if those comments were supposed to be funny or what, but at least for me they mostly just made me not want to watch anymore ::(

Adrian Lee

"Hurm" is just another word for "huh"

Adrian Lee

They did change William's voice actor

REDE

Its kinda the other way around actually. The magmanites originate from Volcanikka and Seismic was just using his vibrations to control them.

Alexandru Ulesan

I figured that. I mean him using them might be what angered her

Amadeo Escobedo

the pacing and jokes are awkward and unfunny. Satan has a power rangers team. I still hate this episode LOL

RoseMetal

Awful take the result of poor media literacy

RoseMetal

It's so beyond stupid to call this filler. It's an important piece of marks growth as a character, and sets up important plot points for the future

ross lingard

I said that in another comment and calling it worst of show doesnt mean its bad its just the least liked out of all the episodes

Atticus Yaps

I personally loved this episode, and not only because it has one of the most iconic thrash metal songs of the 80s (Slayer's "Raining Blood"), but also because I love any episode with Damian Darkblood in it. I do agree with you about the not needing a book or religion to be a god person. I went to born-again and evangelical Christian schools for primary, and Catholic (Jesuit) high school, and saw first hand the hypocrisy from preachrs and priests, as well as some teachers that were later arrested. That's not to say all the priests were bad, there were one or two that were genuinely good people, but yeah,I saw the same stuff you did Mosco. I know I'm behind on watching these, I'm catching up as I've been busy
