In which Pinkie Pie learns that children are monsters.

Justin Riley

I can't say why, but next week will make you very happy...

Justin Riley

Fun fact: The scene where Pound Cake is crawling on the ceiling is a reference to the 1996 movie "Trainspotting."

MephilesNumberOneFan

The "And that makes sense" joke is the best part of the episode

Jared Bichler

I've been looking forward to this one.

iCommentToPlay

I was very curious and excited how you would find this episode after all the chat of looking after kids/twins!

Tim Sammuals

Can't wait for next week episode. I just don't know what went wrong.

Jared Bichler

A leading theory suggests that hooves actually act somewhat like hands in this universe. So no, you wouldn't have to hold a dirty diaper in your mouth. Carrot Cake just does it for the sake of time.

Ovlena

This episode explains how I enjoy playing with my niece and nephews, but also having the choice of never wanting kids myself. Not that it’s entirely the same for Pinkie since she eventually becomes the mother of Rubber Chicken

SoaringJe

Thinking about it now, Rarity's probably one of those people who absolutely can look after kids well, but what's even more sure is how she does not want to. And I respect that. Rarity might have learned that when she had to babysit baby!Sweetie Belle.

KylarStern1995

"That makes sense right" sure it does pal, sure it does. Pumpkin looks like him in colours at least but pound looks like neither of them. However given that this is a world of magic with a chaos god and also the sun and moon apparently move while the planet stays still let's give it a pass.

Crystal Pokeball

I absolutely LOVED that educational section about the science and chemistry of how food affects our brains!

A.B.

As someone who also does not have kids and has absolutely no intention of ever having any, your little Ted Talk about raising kids and managing their diet was really interesting! There was some stuff I already knew like how sugar is basically an addictive drug given how it affects our brains but there was also some stuff I hadn't considered like how kids playing with their food is how they learn.

RaisedEyebrow

It's mentioned that baby pegasi and unicorns have magic and flying surges when they're young. Thisbis mostly to exagerate what a handful they are, so don't be too surprised when other ponies don't have the same powers as the babies.

Taigan

I really want to say something about this episode and upcoming events but… spoilers!

Always appreciate the nuggets of wise information from Mosco! Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned about children’s eating habits!

2026-09-19 14:00 Oh man! I just became a mum last year. This episode is so relatable! I love the bit when pinkie points to broom end at Pumpkin cake and she just goes to eat it. That's so my wee Robyn 😆 Omg that spider story was horrific! I'd die! Lol

I knew with your experiences with the twins that you'd love this episode and it's parallels with your own life. Imagine how much MORE of a handful they would have been with wings and a horn! It's no wonder Pinkie eventually burst into tears. Fun little horse fact, real life foals actually do start getting their teeth in at around a month old, so Pumpkin was in fact teething. But yeah, babies love to just shove everything in their mouths anyways (no kids of my own but I've helped raise all 8 of my nieces and nephews, and the oldest has a son of his own now that turned 1 a couple months ago).

Saga

Both pegasi and unicorns seem to exhibit stronger flying and magical abilities when they are very young, compared to their capabilities once they grow older. It seems like it may be because it’s entirely instinctive, instead of being done through conscious thought? Happy you liked the episode. :) Next week is another fun one.

JHB

Considering how you've occasionally mentioned taking care of your younger siblings, I KNEW you'd find this episode hitting close to home.

Tristan Haller

Of course Pinkie's took physics couldn't help her here. Usually she's in the narrative role of the Roadrunner, but this time, she's Wile E. Coyote.

Sydney Horton

Yeah, so turns out Rarity had a baby with Fancy Pants. But really, this was a wonderful episode about biting off more than we can chew. Yet, the rewards at the end made it feel worth it. And it taught me to sing the Piggy dance whenever I do laundry.

Sydney Horton

I think they can get away with it since brown is really just darker orange. In which case, Ms. Cupcakes genes did not even try

Kat

I hope you'll be reacting to the uncensored/original release version of next week's episode !!!

Julio Castillo

Or.... y'know..... Ms. Cake could've just cheated on Mr. Cake. At least that's how the theory goes. The fact that Mr. Cake says "that makes sense, right?" like he's not even sure why his son and daughter are not earth ponies like him and his wife is both a funny bit and and also kinda concerning.

Helen Dingo

There are 2 versions of the next episode, make sure you find the "original broadcast" version to get the intended experience. (It got unwarranted backlash from parents, and they censored it, even though the Bronies AND KIDS who loved the show HATED the change they made) No spoilers on any specific info about it.

Kee Leichtle

This episode makes me rethink the idea of babysitting my baby niece 😂 I still want to do it cause I love her and it helps I have experience looking after pets cause it's more or less similar regarding feeding them and cleaning up after them.

Faroth

She literally had a little sister when she was already on her 25s, talk about weird parents or she was an "accident" on teenager parents ☝️🤔😂

Faroth

And the joke of the Cakes getting a night with princess trollestia was a thing back then, kinda trying to explain the pegasi/unicorn babies after she trolled them during the tea party with the sips of tea

Faroth

Sadly since they dont live together and he is rich, he won custody

Faroth

Gotta love rarity being like "oh nonononono..." Because ahe had a little sister when she was in her 20-25's, she knew how hard it is and 2 of ghem? No thanks...

RedeemerofDark

Its funny I feel like I remember this episode being not very well liked by fans even though its such a cute and fun episode! Perhaps I'm remembering wrong.

Faroth

Or a three night with celestia... Sinve the daughter have his colors and the kid have celestia's fur

Faroth

Weirdly, it was parents who loved it since theirkids feel represented and was some randoms non related who asked to censor it and change "her name", is the same kind of people who for example isnt latino and suddenly ask to remove latino characters in a show behaving certain way even when latinos love the character

Faroth

Cats are the best pet for lazy people, 90% they do all themselves on their own

SoaringJe

I don't think the show put a number on any of the Mane 6's age, besides Fluttershy being a year older than Pinkie Pie. But that's certainly possible

Luís Pacheco

"You know it's bad when they even ask RAINBOW DASH before Pinkie" hahahahah, y'know what? You're right!

therewashuman

Why do you care about not being an earth pony it’s not like you are gonna have children

BeatrixBlueberry

Later we learn that the baby in the nursery IS Rarity's daughter and she was sent to live with her father and his family because Rarity wanted to focus on her business and didn't think she was up to having a kid, tho I'm pretty sure it's a retcon because no one saw her and ----- ----- having a kid together coming. Also, that episode led many to headcanonn Rarity as transfemme (and her bf as transmasc of course) because she says the baby was born on that day and obviously she does NOT look like she just gave birth in that shot.

Yhelta

Pinkie, your middle name is NOT responsibility. It's Diane

AgariGlaceon

NO, no lessons for siblings! Children should not be held responsible for their baby/infant siblings, it is the parents responsibility to find proper arrangements, children should be children

bearMathilde

I fundamentally disagree with the carb discussion. You need carbs to survive. Take it from someone with type 1 diabetes carbs is in fucking everything. Now i'm not saying eat highly processed foods stuffed with thousands of calories, but carbs and processed foods are not the same thing

Anzac-A1

Completely agree. Children are the parents' responsibility, not their siblings'.

Anzac-A1

5:33 Some traits can skip generations, yes.

Anzac-A1

Or you're reading way too much into a KIDS show.

Anzac-A1

He probably said that because he's not a biologist etc.

Leaf Storm

If you're looking for VA credits, Pound Cake was Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity) and Pumpkin Cake was Andrea Libman (Pinkie.)

Julio Castillo

Relax, dude. I was just pointing out a very common and popular fan theory xdd.

OnTheSpectrum7342

Couple of things: First, there was a bit of a joke/rumour/theory going around the Brony community that the reason the twins weren't Earth Ponies wasn't because of skipped familial generations, but it was actually due to the Cakes being in an open relationship or using sperm donors (or the worse option of Mrs Cake being unfaithful). Mr Cake saying "that makes sense, right?" after explaining the family connections, and his nervous expression when saying it, both help promote any of those theories, in my opinion, and I think it certainly makes more sense than how it was explained. As far as we've seen so far, everypony shares their pony subspecies with one or both of their parents, and I am struggling to think of any examples to the contrary, so why would the Cake Twins be any different? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Secondly, in terms of babysitting, obviously Fluttershy would have been the best option, but I'd also put Rarity and Rainbow Dash higher on the list than you would. Fluttershy is definitely the number one choice, but both Rarity has experience dealing with baby unicorns, since she probably helped out with Sweetie Belle as she was growing up, and Dash, like Fluttershy, grew up surrounded by only pegasi when she was living in Cloudsdale, so she'd have probably seen plenty of baby pegasi, which she sort of proved with her comment in the hospital. AJ and Twi could both also be said to have experience raising kids (AJ with Applebloom, and Twi with Spike), but raising an earth pony and a dragon would have different rules to raising a unicorn and a pegasus. Pinkie is the only one with no experience at all when it comes to this sort of thing, since her sisters don't have as big of an age gulf as the other sisterhoods we've seen.

The Wolf of Chaos

Your sister and I would’ve gotten along great. I was a weird kid who would eat broccoli raw, the adults were astounded. My aunt bonded with me by serving me broccoli when I was starting to form connections with people. Granted, you’re right about the pizza lighting up the brain, I was hooked on it from age four onward. Even crazier to think all those trips to McDonald’s as a kid are why my cravings sometimes say I’d love some now even though I quit going years ago because it kept making me sick. That’s a wild study, link that in the YouTube description and I think a lot of us will learn something new.

Warren

Cool that you caught the detail of the baby Rarity, the show was setting up that Rarity was sent back in time from the war-torn future so early on its shocking we all missed it until the big reveal

Warren

Its a little thing but i do like that the show has Mr. Cake do the diaper change and burping, its not a big deal but its nice that they didn't just show Mrs. cake doing all the baby care like a feel some other shows might do, plus i like that they both are good at being parents and its not a plot about one of them being hopeless with the babies while the other is away or something, having pinkie fill that role is a good way to do that plot without making the parents feel incompetent

Lilac Chimera

Oldest of 4 kids and most of my cousins here. We went through a situation years ago with my uncle’s divorce, and my parents were extremely busy helping him out and working so at age 16 I ended up spending most of my time looking after 6 children under the age of 10. And man do I feel that sobbing breakdown every time I rewatch this episode. I love those kids but God Damn can a girl get some rest and free time? (The youngest is 11 now and we’re besties. He’s been binging MLP with me for a few months and I got him obsessed)
